The only question I have about the septic tank is it has been around for a long time. Don't they have like a grandfather clause of some kind that they can use to make you keep it there because it was there when you moved in? Don't think I'm rooting for the other guy, just looking at possibilities.

20 years under the same owner, this place has been sold 3 times in as many years. Only broken off from our property for like 18 years.

A lawyer with questionable ethics is no surprise (with my humblest apologies to all the lawyers who are ethical.)
This particular one seems as loony as his clients. Obviously all of this stuff can be (and has been) checked. Sort of like pointing up at a clear blue sky and saying that the sky is red.
Were I a lawyer, I sure wouldn't keep them as clients.

It may be a fine point but, I'll bet the lawyer reported that he had been told by his client that Steve's place was a puppy mill, etc...... They tend to work that way.

I'm sure you're right, but sooner or later he's going to figure out that his clients are not only making themselves look bad, but are making him look like a complete fool as well.
If you can't trust the people you're attempting to defend to at least have a passing acquaintance with reality, you're pretty much screwed. He's going to have to investigate every single point his clients give him, before he runs with it. A good lawyer would probably do that anyway, but it would be nice to be able to give your own clients the benefit of the doubt.
I won't be surprised if he quits these idiots before it's over with.

Well our lawyer is sending them and their so called lawyer a letter stating:
We will be putting a fence up on the property line, right threw their garden.
We are allowed to do that.
The previous offer is no longer any good.
Now they must remove the leach field, or pay us $25,000 plus all legal expenses and survey costs. Then we will Have the surveyor come back and re pin off their leach field.
As soon as they get the letter we start the fence line. Right threw their garden, I will pull up the fence they put up and all the corn they planted. They will get the fence thrown in their yard and I will feed the corn to the pigs in the barn.

Moral of this story? Treat everyone as you want to be treated.. because they may own your leach field
I bet they are rethinking everything now.. If they had only been nice lol

Id just go out to 'their' garden thats on your property and pick food for myself while they were outside to see you and smile at them.
I don’t trust them not to poison it.
They lie to everyone they talk to or try to get on their side.
They lie to their own lawyer, making him and them look bad.
They have turned a small dispute over a property line into anything they can make trouble for us.
Calling code enforcement, animal control, police, town manager, is just trying to make trouble for us.
Taking time away from these people that should be doing other things.
Taking time away from our chores, which we have many.
We had 2 out buildings delivered by flat bed yesterday, one at a time and each time one arrived they called code enforcement. These buildings were put no where near there property line,
Not they I wouldn’t have loved to.
The guy that delivered them heard the story. He is a true Mainiac, lived here all his life. Offered to put the buildings exactly 15’ from their property line free of charge anytime we want. He hates flat Landers to. ( a term used by Mainers for anyone not born here)

I have to say I am sorry you are having to go thru this, but I sure am glad you decided to share it with us Now where is that popcorn... Oh and if y0ou need to rent an insane redneck for security... I am cheap and have my own gun

Hmm. Hates flatlanders too. The implication there being that you hate flatlanders. Nice place. If you're not born there people automatically hate you. So now I have to ask, is this about these people being troublemakers for you, or are they just "flatlanders" who aren't welcome there?

Will you work for bullets and food?
If so I just might take you up on that.

Just a term. Like redneck.
The economy up here runs on tourist dollars. We don’t really hate anyone,
Except maybe you.
Just kidding don’t take it personal.

Well, no, we really don't have a term. Everyone is welcome here. What caught my attention was that the guy "hates flatlanders too"
That statement tells me that you and this guy (and by assumption everyone from maine) actually HATE "flatlanders"- people who weren't born there. I'm not accusing you of anything, merely trying to clarify a statement that you made. And no, I don't take it personally, I'm sure plenty of people hate me, that's OK, they're still thinking of me, I don't care in what way. So I still win.

Flatlanders dont mean a thing. I was born and raised in maine on the coast though. I have a friend that moved to South Paris area and now calls ME a flatlander even though she herself lived as one for 25 years?
Besides How can you take any one that lives in an area that has more John Deere dealerships than car dealerships combined seriously?
