Isn't SAP a product? It's not really a programming language, is it? From what I understand, it's just a configurable product like Microsoft Dynamics CRM that allows you to build custom templates / forms / database modules through a gui front end, right?

Its not programming language but a software(didn't mean for it to come across as a language like COBOL which by the way I know LOL, I actually went to school for it).. I have seen many windows and network people on here, but nobody that works with SAP.. It is know as the "grand canyon" of software because its so vast, but you have the right idea, many many companies use it to run all facets of their business (moto the best run companies run SAP)...

I work with Oracle Peoplesoft applications in product development. SAP is our main competitor. Most Psoft dev is via a GUI designer but we do have a proprietary language called PeopleCode that is object-oriented.

I can agree with that, but never say never. Lol. At a previous employer we were working long hours to implement a completely new .net solution that was purchased to replace the COBOL apps that were in use. It never succeeded, I left before it crashed and failed. That large fortune 500 company is now no longer. I'm actually working on a project right now where we are creating a new mainframe region and we'll be doubling our use of COBOL. Many of our customer-facing web apps actually feed into our COBOL based apps.

Found another job! I start Monday. It'll be a slight pay caut at first, but they give regular raises, 1st at 90 days, then every 6 months, so I'll quickly surpass what I currently make.

I told my boss that I'd stay part time, but that he couldn't expect me to carry the store anymore. We'll see what comes of it.

You ever thought of just working for yourself?

Build websites, do repair, etc. I bet you would do pretty good, and you could just do home repairs until you get enough for a shop.

I did that for awhile on the side. I made good money, but not enough of it to be a 'full time' job....

I'll figure it out.

Ack! SAP.. 10yr old crappy german software

We integrated last year.. still adjusting.. Talk about throwing productivity away for the sake of reporting.

We now have 100% proof that we're being productive entering information into SAP

25 minutes till I leave this place for good. Some good people. Some not-so-good. Aged me more then i should have let it. Glad I made the decision to leave, need to re-group, finish healing (tummy flu knocked me around the other day), and find a new gig.

Wish me luck. about to attend my "exit" meeting...

All the best in the World, Chris. IMHO, you are in the wrong job, or rather 'trade'. It just doesn't suit you To be honest, i bet you could be JK Rowling's Male counterpart...but I guess you don't have the application, or inclination...or even the TIME to sit and write books. But I think you SHOULD

That went better then I had expected. Thanks for the reply, Nick...

I'll find another job,one which better suits me, and I will also dig in my heels and start working on some of my computer-related projects again.

Made it through the first round of interviews for two (good) jobs. First round was the 'Personality' Interview, second round is the technical Interview. (Next week). The technical one shouldn't be a problem, I know my stuff pretty well.

The past month, I have been meeting w/ headhunters, consulting firms (yecch) and some wacky high-end recruiters. These two jobs seemed to be the best matches. Another 2 possibilities at the tail end of next week (if neither of these two pan out).
I tried finding a job on Long Island, but the pay just wasn't close to what I was lookin' for.

Three others jumped ship soon after I did. Don't blame them...what a nutty place that was...

Yeah, I liked it -

The 'meat' is good, but perhaps something should be done with the formatting of the bullet-pointed section, *not sure what exactly, my brain isn't working right now...* ( and the ending needs a bit more "bite", or those last two paragraphs need to go above the "things I did " section.)

I had been sending my resume out and filling out automated forms, I saw one job I really liked, and I wrote the wackiest email to them - they called me back in less then 5 minutes. The salary was too far below my rate, but it was a cool job...

must sleep now!!!
