I see it now---I just didn't realize we could have multiple usernames in the game.

I used an old email that I don't use anymore, I was just curious to see if all the people that I here saying "INVEST IN GOLD, ITS THE ONLY SECURE THING LEFT!!!" So I decided I would open another with only gold stocks and see how it did. I can't seem to find anymore gold stocks on the exchange to invest in, know of any other gold symbols?

I was thinking about having another account in the game. One account I would just buy a stock and let it ride..in the other I would try to buy and sell several times trying to buy low sell higher.

No, but I wonder if I can open some new accounts in real life with just a spare email addy? I have several I never activated yet.

At one time... my stocks (well total) was down 15%+ I have stuck with these two companies though..and am going to continue. I think they will pay off decently in a few more months!

You would be in 3rd place if you would have sold your 800 shares of LIHR before it quit trading on 8-31-10. I got lucky and sold mine on the 27th...It would never let me buy again and then I saw you still had 800 shares so I watched your account. When it went to $0 I got to reading about LIHR and I think it was bought and it's stock stopped trading. It's one of a few flaws I have found with the game.

Thanks for explaining that. I have no experience with the stock exchange and I couldn't for the life of me understand why I was ($30,000).

I haven't done anything with my account in a couple months--didn't even have an order in till yesterday. I was 13th place for awhile there, Cashed out, yesterday(at a loss) and will try to get back in to it when the weather turns too bad for me to do outside stuff.

I have a question for everyone......... When is enough, enough. I'm not a greedy man, I would be more than happy to get 20% on my money for the year. I think most of my investments [cd's and mm funds} made around 3% last year. If this wasn't a game would there be a point where you said I've made enough so I'm selling and not invest any more that year or would you just let it ride?
The more I play this game the more I think the market is easy for the big players to manipulate it.

I don't know, good question. I've been making monthly returns of 10% on my (real life) investments in the market this Summer/Fall and I wouldn't mind if that number were higher. Maybe I'm greedy.

Depends on how you're structured in your investments-- tax wise. If you reach your goal, and cash out in real life, be ready to pay significant CG taxes, and then, ya have to decide where to park that cash------remember, the max you are insured for thru FDIC is $250K now. You could always place some or all of it in a tax deferred guaranteed return annuity if you don't need it for at least 1 yr. After 1 yr of a 4 or 6 yr term, you can draw 10% out without penalty (early surrender) . Otherwise, there is a significant penalty, computed on the value of the account the day you request the early surrender. Is there a point I would bail completely because I had reached a preset goal? Not unless I see something in the market that would tend to make me even more cautious than I am now. I am NOT a fan of mutual funds either. At one time, when the market was stable, the diversiity in MFs was desirable. Now--not nearly as much so. If I were to bail on the stock market completely-- tomorow, I would keep 1/4 cash, 1/4 in annuities, and 1/2 would be invested in raw rural land.

Anyone notice anything strange about the following?

The last transaction (top line) 'looks' like it took place after hrs.

BTW, some of you laugh at my way of trading, but after sitting out of the game for over a month, I got back in last Sunday night. You are looking at approx $8000 profit in 4 days.

I "try" to cash out every day before the market closes, so I don't get caught upside down at a low market open point--even if I leave some on the table. It may go up more tomorrow, but IMO, you don't have anything till it's over in the right hand column under "cash". Some days I don't make it, but since I am going out of town in a couple of hrs, I wanted to at least have 1/2 in cash before closing bell. I was lucky--both stocks sold. Another reason I wanted all cash is because of news coming out of the Fed.

Be careful today--Fed Chairman Ben Bernake is on tap to speak regarding QE-----the market will react to whatever he says----one way or another. It always does.

I've learned a lot this year, especially in the last 5 months. Going to put it to practical use beginning 4th qtr 2011. On a much smaller scale of course.

dunno--his 1st day of trading activity didn't go too well.

But then, I don't view any of it as competition, just a learning experience.

It sold all my held stock at $0.00. Sooo.... not my fault. The game glitched. Or I did something completely wrong... but that doesn't seem right.

That happened on my 88HF-2 account on there. I was doing pretty good with all the gold stock, but then, well you can see on the top of this page that LIHR stopped trading when I had 800 shares of them.

It was my very first sell, so needless to say I'm not very motivated to continue playing...

You have a transaction 'hung up'.
You and 1988holleyformula both need to go to your portfolio page, (logged in) scroll to the very bottom and click the feedback and suggestions link. Then choose "portfolio problems" and a dialog box will open for you to explain what went wrong. They once, in a past year game, GAVE me a $5,000,000 gain on a $500 trade, and corrected it when i contacted them. They will contact you via email with the solution-usually within hrs of your feedback submit.

I tried to create a new game but the process gets stuck on step 1. I'll try again later unless someone else can get an advanced game created.

Perhaps you cannot start a new one right now due to the fact that Marketwatch/WSJ says all the games are "moving" on Aug 30 with added features not previously available.?.

And, I did encounter a LOT of "sorry--a processing error occured in your order/ Please return to the Homepage to begin again" during the last 3-4 weeks of this game. Hopefully, they will fix whatever was causing that.

I have tried to start a new game several times. It is just not working right now. I'll try some more next week and every couple of days until I get a new game going.
