For those of you that carry concealed, I'm curious what type and brand of concealed carry holster you prefer. Pros and cons of what you have tried? I'm also interested in what you carry too. I'm thinking of holsters in regards to a 1911 in particular but all input is welcome
I prefer my elastic waistband with a thumbbreak. It holds several different guns. you can wear it with anything from t shirt and shorts to a business suit. You can wear it over or under clothing. You can place your gun where ever you prefer it. Im right handed and prefer it towards the front on my left side. You can wear it low on the hip or high up on the chest. You could even wear it in a swim suit. Other benefits....it has 2 pockets to carry extra clips, ID or cash/credit cards. And it holds in a bit of belly fat .

I can definitely see your attraction to this. Have you ever had any problems with it staying in place? Do you do any rigorous activity while wearing it? Any particular brand you prefer?

I tried pocket holsters with my Beretta 32 and it always seemed more of a hassle, getting lost in the pocket, or turned upside down..
I don't carry yet, but I will be soon, and I have been looking at holsters, and this is my opinion of pocket carry, or pocket holsters. I just imagine myself struggling to pull the gun out. Kinda like Barney Fife fumbling with his gun.

When Steve McQueen played San Francisco police detective Frank Bullitt, he used a shoulder holster with the gun's handgrip protruding downwards. Imagine sweeping your right arm across your torso and grabbing the gun's handgrip when it's protruding downwards from the holster. It's a faster, more natural draw.
McQueen actually copied this from real life San Francisco police detective Dave Toschi, who headed up the investigation of the famous Zodiac serial murders case.
Caveat: I'm not a gun owner. I'm just taking advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to post something in one of the "gun" threads. No, I can't really post any sensible advice based on personal experience ...

I got mine from NRA Store. It stays right where I put it. Other clip on or belt holsters seem to wander all around on waistband or belt. Ive got about 1/2 dozen different styles I never use. I bike and run with it with no problem. Finger break just takes a part of a second to open, keeps gun in even running or jumping, bouncing on a motorcycle or boat. I think it was like $25. I have 2, one black and one tan. Tan dont show thru white tshirts and dress shirts as much as the black that I usually prefer under colored clothes.

Any particular reason?
They are quality made, relatively inexpensive, easy to put on and get off in the car, but stay on your belt when worn and don't 'imprint' too badly. I use a thumbreak model, but am able to draw quickly and easily.

Click on the second one at the bottom of Formula's video (belly band) This is what I have and she has it positioned where I do mine. I could never stand something sticking in my back.

Never owned one, but on appearance only, it looks like the gun could fall out easily. Thoughts?

I think it will be fine. Some holsters will have a screw to increase tension if you want, although this one doesn't look to have it. I've never had an issue with a gun coming out of a holster. Unless you are going to be hanging upside down, it won't be an issues.
Eek, the most dangerous place to carry. If you slip and fall, or carry in a car and are in an accident, you can pretty much expect to be paralyzed as it will shatter your spine. Steel and bone, guess who wins.
Uncle Mike IWB holster or something similar is what I normally use. The other options are shoulder holsters.
I used to use Uncle Mikes in my early days of ccw as they were cheap and i was poor, but they tended to wear holes in them rather fast and get 'loose'. Only leather with metal clips for me now.

I use a Blackhawk CQC except I have a belt base instead of the paddle base. Blackhawks paddle base is uncomfortable. I've fallen off a ladder and haven't lost my gun yet. Leather looks good but for an everyday carry, Kydex wins.
