actually he did write up the fix it ticket, and ok I was guilty of having the warrant, so I accept all that. What bugs me is the whole pull you over, and then look for a reason/problem. I mean there are plenty of other people out there actually doing stuff wrong, can't they just wait for me to make a wrong turn, not use a blinker, speed etc... God knows I speed enough, they wouldn't have had to wait long lol.

Just out of curiosity. If I pull up to a roadblock that usually (around here) has a sign saying either "Seat belt Checkpoint" or " DWI Checkpoint", and I am wearing my seat belt, and not drinking, then why do I have to produce license and registration? I will not let anyone search my vehicle without a warrant, and thus far have only had to turn down one officer. But I was told (by an officer) that by going through a checkpoint I had already consented to a search. I have yet to have a vehicle searched at a checkpoint, I just asked a local officer what my rights were in this situation. I have nothing to hide, I just want some freedom, if I have done nothing wrong don't fish for something.

I did not read through all 5 pages of this post but that 2nd officer that showed up sounded like the jackass cop in this video:

http://video.google.com/vid...2715792117793977759&

He got fired for threatening to make up charges. If there was no video of this incident, then that sorry SOB would still be out threatening people or making up charges. Some cops let their power go to their heads. Those bad cops are nothing more than bullies with a badge and should be removed from law enforcement.

On the other hand, good cops have my highest respect. Most people in law enforcement are excellent people. All it takes is one bad apple out of 10 cops to give them all a bad image.

I don't think you have many rights now a days, unless you have the $ to hire a lawyer.

Just try "not going through the checkpoint" and see what happens to you.

There was one of those close to my friends house recently and we watched as they towed about 75% of the cars that went through. about 10% of those people were given sobriety tests, the rest were just guilty of who knows what.

I just got my car back a few hours ago, and they don't even go through it nicely, they throw everything all over the place, dumb everything all over the floor etc. Thankfully the only thing missing was a cheap bottle of cologne that I tend to use more as an air freshener in the car.

And the conduct continues for 2009.

This story is evolving. At first it was stated there were no camera being recording at the station, then later on authorities are now saying there were, but shows nothing.... hmm?

Later the person who was fatally shot by police wasn't in hang cuffs so how was it that the person was shot?

Police Fatally Shoot Man At Oakland BART Station
http://cbs5.com/local/BART....police.2.898502.html

A 22-year-old man died Thursday after being shot on an Oakland train station platform by a transit agency police officer responding to reports of fighting on an arriving train, officials said.

The Bay Area Rapid Transit officer's gun went off while police were trying to restrain 22-year-old Oscar Grant at BART's Fruitvale station on East 12th Street around 2:15 a.m., agency spokesman Jim Allison said.

Grant was taken to to Highland Hospital -- where he later died from his wounds at 9:13 a.m., according to Mike Yost, supervising coroner investigator with the Alameda County coroner's bureau.

Authorities said they were still investigating whether the gun was fired on purpose or accidentally.

"It's clear that it was a volatile situation with young men who were arguing and in fact had continued to argue even in the presence of multiple police officers," Allison said.

Five officers had gathered on the platform as the train arrived from San Francisco following reports that two groups of men were fighting on the train near the West Oakland station two stops earlier, officials said.

The men continued to yell at each other after the Dublin/Pleasanton-bound train stopped, and police were in the process of separating the men when the bullet struck Grant, Allison said.

No one involved in the alleged fighting was arrested following the shooting, although two men were detained for questioning and later released. Police shut down the Fruitvale station until about 2:50 a.m. to collect physical evidence after the incident.

Officials have not publicly identified the officer, who has served on the force for just under two years.

The officer was placed on standard administrative leave as authorities investigate whether proper police procedures had been followed and whether the shooting was a crime, Allison said.

The shooting was being investigated by the East Bay Regional Parks police, who indicated that their probe was on-going.

Cops are just plain worthless. I have hated them since day 1 and will never give them any respect. Just last week my car was towed illegally and it cost me over 200 to get it back. And they damaged the car so bad its now undriveable and they say it was like that when they towed it. If the rear springs are broken how the hell where they able to tow it with a wrecker?? I have had guns pulled on me for no reason at all. I have been put in handcuffs for no reason at all. i know its not the nicest thing to do but if I meet a cop out of uniform, once i find out they are a cop I loose all respect for them. My friends dad was a cop. As soon as i found that out I told the kid to screw off. 99.9% of cops have no reason to be cops. Cops deserve no respect at all from anybody. Anybody ever search youtube for cops using tasers or hear about it?? They think because they are non lethel they can use them whenever they want. My friend was tasered right in from of me because he couldnt get his ID out of the plastic thing in his wallet fast enough so the cop had him get walk across the front of the car and then told him to walk back to the cruiser and while he was walkin back the garbage cop hit him with a taser but conveniently the dash cam couldnt see it cuz the car was in the way. We where pulled over for going 3 mph over the limit too. After seeing that I will always hate cops. They are power hungry and think they can do whatever they want too, and to anybody they want to.

With your attitude I bet those guns were pulled on you for a reason. I hope a cop doesn't help you when you need it. You certainly don't deserve it. And since you don't respect them you would rather die then get that help.

What about the lawman who shows up to an accident scene and pulls a relative from a burning car? Are they bad?

What about the cops in New York on 9/11 who saved lives--and gave theirs... Were they bad?

What about the cops in LA who lost thair lives protecting the public during the riots in '92... were they bad?

See a pattern here.... Some cops may be bad, but some of them are Heroes and actually deserve respect.

I for one an glad we have police protecting us, god forbid that the Military would be patrolling the streets.

I was driving down the street. My road is a left hand turn off the road I was on. I was in a 1986 chevy towing a landscape trailer. I passed a cop going the other way down the road. I made a left onto my street and pulled into my front yard because I could just pull out and not back up. I had just got food at taco bell. I put the truck in park. called my boss real quick to let him know I stopped at my place on lunch. I took my belt off and grabbed my food and went to grab the door handle to open the door and there was a gun pointed at me through the window of the truck. Another cop came flyin down my road and blocked me in by skiiding sideways across my front lawn. He then jumped out of his car with gun drawn. I had no idea what was goin on. the cop said he saw a weapon in my truck when he drove by me and I was going over 55 miles an hour.(i was doing 45 and the limit on the road was 40) They put me in cuffs and dumped all my food out and searched the truck. Never let me say a word until they where done. The same cop has been harrasing me for a while after that now cuz he was wrong. I got a ticket that day for speeding and no belt. And he has issued me tickets in the same truck for racing and speeding everytime he passes me. Then the cop that tasered my friend. i have never seen any good from a cop towards me or anyone else. IMHO they deserve no respect because since they have a gun and badge they can do whatever they want. I have never even been able to write a complaint because the prick pig is a sergeant and everytime i call the station its always another sergeant there and refuses to write it.

Today was day 1 for me in SLAP (Sheriff's Labor Assistance Program) for people convicted of minor traffic violations. Community Service type of stuff. 1 officer in charge of about 10-12 of us. He did his job, and still managed to be decent to us. Not overly friendly or overly jerky, just the right balance.

From the other guys I had heard that you do whatever work til about noon, take a 1 hour lunch, then sit/stand around for another hour and then get sent home. This guy brought us back to the building where we started out around 1pm and then told us, go get yourselves lunch and go home. Then asked if everyone understood lol. We did and left. That was nice of him.

You weren't allowed to have cell phones, and apparently they let you, as long as you don't stand there using it in front of them. A few times different ones went off, and he just said put it on vibrate, instead of saying something mean, or taking them etc. ( I didn't have mine and ended up walking/bus home).

Today was good for a first day.

There are a lot of good cops out there. There are also a lot of bad ones.
The problem is, when a person encounters a bad cop, the stakes could be their reputation, their freedom, their livelihood, or even their life. We have no way to know the good cops from the bad until it's too late. And we don't have faith in the good ones to ferret out the bad ones because they cover for each other first and worry about civilians second, even the good ones.

Well ain't that something..... http://cbs5.com/local/oakla...irings.2.910020.html

Oakland's city attorney said 11 police officers will be fired for allegedly lying to obtain search warrants in drug cases.

Two sergeants and nine officers face termination in a case that has put dozens of prosecutions in jeopardy. Attorneys say at least 12 cases have been dismissed because of the scandal.

City attorney John Russo said an internal investigation alleges that the officers falsely told judges that substances seized from drug suspects had been identified by the crime lab as illegal drugs. Those lies were used to persuade judges to issue warrants that police relied on to gather more evidence.

Russo said some of the officers also lied to internal affairs investigators.

yah but they get all your info (reg and ins) before they even pull you over. Why do they need you to show it to them again, and why do you get a ticket for not having it, when they know you have it? grrrrrrrrrrrrr

I think I know why, because if you have a job, and don't have time to go to court, then you just pay the $180 fee (and that's for each one ins and reg)

This is part of what I mean about looking for stolen cars or certain people. Once they know who it belongs to then that should be the owner of the vehicle. They just want to match up the paperwork and make sure.

As for the ticket for no registration or insurance, I guess it varies from state to state. Here if you get a ticket for say speeding and you have no proof of insurance, when you go "fight" the ticket or pay it you can show then that you have insurance and don't have to pay anything extra.

Okay, this little guy is a good cop.

Boy, 14, dupes police, patrols Chicago for 5

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/..._us/boy_fake_officer

CHICAGO – A 14-year-old aspiring police officer donned a uniform, walked into a Chicago police station and managed to get an assignment — patrolling in a squad car for five hours before he was detected, police said Sunday.
The boy did not have a gun, never issued any tickets and didn't drive the squad car, Deputy Superintendent Daniel Dugan said.
Assistant Superintendent James Jackson said the ruse was discovered only after the boy's patrol with an actual officer ended Saturday. Officers noticed his uniform lacked a star that is part of the regulation uniform.
Police said they were investigating how the deception went undetected for so long in what they described as a serious security breach.
Police didn't identify the boy because of his age. He has been charged as a juvenile with impersonating an officer.
Dugan said the boy looks older than 14 and was motivated by a desire to be an officer, not malice or "ill intent."
The boy once took part in a Chicago program for youth interested in policing, so he would have been familiar with some procedures, perhaps helping him blend in, police spokeswoman Monique Bond said.

Another one from up here in Canada. Three drunken cops robbed and almost killed a 47 year old delivery man. The police chief says the men "might" lose their jobs over the incident. Thank god for us we guys like this looking out for us.

Okay, (pardon the pon) but, that's gay dude!

Boston cop accused of escorting **** stars to club
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/...ce_stripper_escort_2

Snip-it:
BOSTON – A Boston police officer is being investigated for allegedly helping two gay **** stars from Sacramento cut through traffic to get to a nightclub. Police say the officer, whose name has not been released, has been placed on desk duty for allegedly using his cruiser to escort a car from Logan International Airport to the Roxy nightclub in Boston last October.
A law enforcement official close to the investigation confirmed Friday the escort was for Aden and Jordan Jaric, a couple who perform in live strip shows and pornography as "Brangelina." The official was not authorized to speak about the investigation and spoke on condition of anonymity.
A phone listing for the Jarics could not immediately be found.
Boston police learned of the alleged escort after a photo of a police cruiser in one of Boston's highway tunnels, along with comments about the trip, were posted on a blog.
The night after the Jarics were at the Roxy, they performed a show at a Providence, R.I., male nude club called Trixx All Male Revue.
Providence police uncovered the photograph while investigating a report of explicit sexual activity at the Trixx show. When they realized the photo was of a Boston police cruiser, they contacted the city, the law enforcement official said.
The official said it appears the officer escorted the men from Logan airport to the Roxy, but not to Providence.

To be honest, I have a lot of speeding tickets, driving while suspended etc...

Nothing is alcohol or drug related, no accidents etc...

Basically only speeding, and driving will poor.

I have learned that paying for the public defender is pointless because the fines etc.......are mandatory and I know what to ask for. The 2nd to last one actually told me, save your money and dont use the Public defender.

So on this latest case. I applied (a while ago) for the public defender, then later on I canceled that.

so I went to court and talked the prosecutor and she told me I HAD TO HAVE THE PUBLIC DEFENDER. come back next week.

2nd week, see the PD, and he says we can call in the officer and try to work something out. (ok this works) come back next week.

3rd week, NEW PD, knows nothing about the case, but she calls in the officer and he out right lies to me, telling me what I said at the time etc... only making my case worse.

I have been to court many times and they have never checked for warrants.

Now this ONE TIME that the officer has to come in. They find a warrant. (yah I knew it was there), but I am trying to get my car back, and can't leave it at the mechanics house forever. So they tell me I have to pay the $328 warrant, AFTER I get done with court, otherwise they will take me into custody. I tell the officer I have the cash on me and will pay it completely.

I go see the judge and he says something like "your the one with no job". I will only give you the SLAP program if you pay the TOTAL fine in 1 week. $1,239.

$1,239 in ONE WEEK, from someone who has no job? WTF.

I will probably end up doing the 10 days in jail. (which I hear is really only about 7), and I will still owe the full $1,239

all this for a non-violent,no accident. nobody got hurt, no drugs, no alcohol etc......TRAFFIC violation.

oh and here is the kicker. What got me this ticket was.......my friend drove me to my 1st day of SLAP, in their car, and got sick about 10 blocks away, so I drove those remaining 10 blocks. (yes they will say I should have walked, but then I would have been violated on my first day for being late.

My advice to you is to learn how to drive.
We're not talking about a single "traffic violation." You say yourself that you routinely ignore any and all traffic laws. You routinely speed, and when caught and lose your license anyway, you keep driving.

Since you show a complete refusal to accept any responsibility and abide by even the most basic traffic laws, putting you in jail is about the only other option.

"Had" to drive or you'd be late for your SLAP meeting? So? Be late and explain it. You could use your excuse to say you "had" to rob a liquor store or be late on your rent. One doesn't justify the other.

NO I do not ignore ANY AND ALL traffic laws, I drive a bit over the posted limited and continued to drive while suspended.

The posted limits are ridiculous and are nothing other then ways to generate revenue. But well there is nothing I can do about that. so if I get caught I accept it.

Heck, even when I have been stopped FOR NO REASON, they have made up tickets and I have just accepted it because I know you cant win.
(well unless you have enough $ to hire a lawyer) Then you can be innnocent.

Ever notice when you go into court for a traffic issue, they don't ask if your innocent, or want a trial? They first offer you a deal if you admit to being guilty and pay a fine.

NOTHING about you being innocent.

I have never been ticketed for driving very fast/racing/ldrugs, alcohol etc. Just doing the same as everyone else, and happen to be the one pulled over, usually because I have a car that stands out more then your usual 4 door sedan.

Oh and with SLAP, there is no explanation. Your late, you go home and get written up.

I have no problem with admitting to something when I do it. I am not trying to make up excuses. I was being driven by a family member, in their car,and they got sick 10 blocks or less from our destination. yes I could have walked and been late, but it was my first time showing up for this program and I was worried.

oh and while I know any "excuse" is useless. I did explain to the officer why I was driving those last few blocks. and when we were in court, he lied and said that I never explaied that to him. I was there with someone else, in their car. If was just going driving myself, then I would be there by myself in my car.

Oh and they MADE me take the public defender, had I seen the original judge when I was scheduled 3 court dates ago. I would have gotten the normal $1,200 +court fees, 6 months to 1 year to pay, and 10 day so SLAP since I am a NON VIOLENT offender.

btw, out of that $1,200 . $200 of it is for the Public Defender, who knew NOTHING about my case until 5mins before the case came up, and then did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING BUT MAKE MY CASE WORSE.

I can not come up with $1,200 in 1 week while unemployed, so I may end up doing the 10 days in jail, where I will surely learn other criminal activities.

I will show up BEFORE I owe the money and try to speak to another judge and get some time to pay, like NORMALLY.

oh, and didnt someone say in other threads how the jails are over populated and they are letting loose dangerous people. Well then its good that they are taking in those people who drive to fast in their place.

Like I said, this is not my first time. I am at court to go through the process, accept the outrageous payments etc.

But this ONE TIME, the Public defender calls in the officer (only because last weeks pd suggested it, last week). He has to be a jerk, and tell them to do a search for a warrants. Like I am some big time criminal. I am behind in fees, because I am poor.

I guess part of what really annoys me is.

Yes, I may be wrong for speeding. So you pull me over for speeding and give me a ticket to generate revenue.

Yet, while your doing this (this is a small town). there are drug deals going on, right out in the open, outside the high school, housing projects etc.....

I also don't have a problem with people doing whatever drugs they want, as long as they are not hurting anyone else.

I guess pulling over speeders, is less work then busting drug dealers.

Oh and btw, while on the slap program, the officers speed, make illegal turns etc.......

The rules only apply to certain people.

When you go fishing - do you catch EVERY fish?

I'll agree there may be other crimes of greater priority than a speeding ticket, or careless and reckless driving, or driving with a suspended license.... repeatedly.
Perhaps if the cop wasn't busy with YOU, they would have time to catch those drug dealers?

Late Sunday night (San Jose, CA) I was on the 101 traveling south when I notice a cruiser pulled over (near the divider, but not enough room for lane clearance). I was going 65mph so I slowed down to 50-ish and pulled over to the far lane when all of a sudden-- the BMW driver and CHP decide to pull over to the opposite shoulder. Yeah, that’s right… cross 4-lanes (in my lane).

I had enough time to react to the BMW, but the CHP-- I nearly hit him. The officer was focused on pulling over the driver that he forgot that it's a freaking hwy and sudden moves doesn't work too well. Granted, it was about 00:20HR and the traffic was light, but you don't across four lanes w/o first making sure nobody is in harms way. The CHP cruiser are equipped with load speakers so he could have instructed to the driver to move over to the opposite side of the road once the area was clear, but no. This officer was right on the BMW rear bumper-- making sure he doesn't get away.

Although, I and the others drivers took evasive maneuvers I couldn't help but wonder how the situation would've gone badly if a 18-wheelers was in the lane. Who would've been at fault? The CHP, BMW, or the truck driver? Somebody could've lost their lives all for a speeding ticket or some type of violation.

We have legal precedent here that states the police cannot be held liable for damage they cause in the performance of their duty - so, whatever mayhem or carnage that results - tough cookies. Yeah, it's BS, but they get away with it.

One time, I left a bar in my Fiero shortly before 2 AM on Sat. night and was cruising up the main road towards the Interstate - just listening to music and enjoying myself, but not speeding or anything. Well, a cop saw me leave the bar, so he figured I MUST be drunk, and started following me. Unfortunately, I didn't notice because I was into the music.

So, I pull onto the highway, and he's right on my bumper. I merge into traffic, and he's still right on my bumper. I can't tell it's a cop car - just a large sedan right behind me. He gets closer, so I slow down some, hoping he'll pass. He stays right on my bumper. I slow down to about 45-50 mph in a 60 mph zone and he's STILL right on my bumper. THEN the blue lights come on. He was so close to my Fiero that I couldn't see the blue lights in the rear view mirror - I just caught a glimpse of them reflecting in the side mirrors and around the car. When he came up to me to give me the whole line about "do you know why I pulled you over, etc." I told him I had no idea he was a cop, and if he'd stayed on my bumper much longer I was about to brake check him.

Yeah, he didn't like that. Go through the whole "papers please" routine, do the drunk tests, even blow a hand held breathalyzer and blew a 0.04 - half the legal limit of 0.08. Then he tells me the reason he pulled me over was because, get this, I was weaving - "inside my lane." I so wanted to scream "IF I WAS IN MY LANE, I WASN'T WEAVING, JACKASS!!!" but thankfully cooler heads prevailed. After wasting about 45 minutes of my time he lets me go.

I'm so glad they're out there protecting me. Anyone leaving a bar at night MUST be drunk, apparently.

Yup. My only complaint about local PDs here is they will pass bars more often (intentionally) at night on their patrols and follow people leaving. I've been followed a few times but from my truck they are easy to pick out as cruisers, but I've never been stopped.

I haven't been hassled for carrying yet so we will see how that works out, there are a couple pending lawsuits against PDs in PA for illegal activity regarding violating people's rights based around gun issues/stops. I might not have as nice of things to say about the police after this summer because I'll probably be open carrying most of the time.

CHP Officer 'Fixed' Ticket for Sex

March 24, 2009
SAN DIEGO -- A former CHP officer is accused of fixing a woman's speeding ticket in exchange for sexual favors.
Abram Carabajal is charged with perjury, conspiracy to obstruct justice and accepting a bribe.
He faces up to five years in prison if convicted of the three felony counts.
Prosecutors say Carabajal lied when he told a judge he did not receive a subpoena to discuss the disputed ticket, leading the court to dismiss the ticket.
The woman later told investigators the two had sex at a hotel right after the court hearing.
She faces similar charges and will be arraigned April 13.

Former Sheriff Gets 79 Years for Raping Inmates

KTLA News
March 24, 2009
FAIRVIEW, Okla. -- A former Oklahoma sheriff has been sentenced to 79 years in prison for sexually abusing female inmates.
Former Custer County Sheriff Mike Burgess was sentenced Tuesday on felony charges that included five counts of second-degree rape. The jury that convicted him had recommended that he serve 94 years in prison.

Allegations against first surfaced in a 2007 federal lawsuit against Burgess. He was accused of using his power over female inmates and drug court defendants to force them into having sex with him. The lawsuit also stated sheriff's employees had prisoners engage in wet T-shirt contests and offered cigarettes to those who would flash their breasts.
Prosecutor Jim Swartz that in one case Burgess asked a drug court defendant to meet him at a hotel in Oklahoma City. Swartz said she feared this would violate travel restrictions imposed by the court, but she agreed to it after Burgess told her: "I'm the sheriff. I'll take care of that."
Swartz said Burgess, 56, used his position to find out where drug court defendants lived. One evening, Burgess showed up at an offender's hotel room, knocked on the door, and when she answered he said, "Booty call," before entering the room and having sex with her, the prosecutor said.
Defense attorney Steve Huddleston said in his opening statement that Burgess never forced anyone to have sex.
"This is a lie," Huddleston said. "Never did happen."
A former Custer County inmate testified that she performed oral sex on Burgess in November 2006 after he promised to make her a trustee and possibly get her out of jail early.

well there ya go, now you know how to get out of a ticket the next time they stop you.

this one sounds like she went along with it, then maybe tried to get him in trouble for it, or maybe he came back for seconds and she told on him not realizing she would be in trouble too.

heh...a guy walks out of the bar and stumbles to his car. Drops his keys and has trouble picking them up. falls into his car and barely gets it started. After three attempts, he finally gets backed out of his parking space. Upon leaving the bar, he gets about two blocks when he is pulled over and given a sobriety test. Another argument for police car cameras
The Dallas police department has suspended a patrolman who detained a motorist outside a hospital, where his mother-in-law was dying. The cop stopped Ryan Moats, a Houston Texans player, after he rolled through a red light in his haste to reach the dying woman. When Moats tried to explain, the cop drew a gun, threatened him with arrest and repeatedly told him to "shut your mouth." Said Officer Robert Powell, "I can screw you over." And this was with a dashboard camera running.

Moats could have been more cautious and respectful, but he was in an extreme situation, and the cop showed no interest in being reasonable. And by the time Moats was allowed to go, his mother-in-law was dead.

The police chief, after viewing the video, said that the department was "embarrassed and disappointed" and that Powell "did not exhibit the common sense, discretion, the compassion that we expect our officers to exhibit."

If this is how Powell behaves when he knows he is being videotaped, how would he conduct himself in the absence of a camera? And why aren't citizens insisting that every patrol car be equipped with a dashboard videocam?

Most cops are good cops. But more cops would be good if they knew they were being watched.

I work 4pm to 12am. After leaving work and half way home(12:30am) I come to a 3 way stop with a County Cop car sitting with lights off.(Rural area) I knew I would be pulled over, since it was after midnight and it has happened a few times before. After 2 miles and one stop sign, I see the red and blue lights. I pull over, engine off, hands on wheel, interior lights on. He then tells me that the Sheriff wants all suspicious vehicles pulled over on back roads, after midnight, due to cattle theft in the area. I'm in a 3/4 ton Dodge diesel with NO trailer. He asks for my drivers license, after seeing my last name he realizes he knows my Father. Hands my license back, and has some small talk with me. It upsets me that I can be pulled over for working, driving, and living in a rural area.

Its a bunch of bu*l s*it.

Got one for you all

Was leaving home on my way to drop off my pup at the vet's to be boarded while I was in Grand Isle, LA. Top a hill right beside the battle field park, knowing this area is bad about deer I'm not going excessively fast, going around 61. As I topped the hill I saw the deputy Sheriff in the on coming lane, looked down to see my speed, between 61 and 63, slowed to 55 and set the cruise. As soon as he saw me he pulled over to the shoulder, letting the cars behind him go past. Then he made a U turn on the side of a blind hill with no lights on. He followed me for almost 2 miles before he got close enough to pull me over. If I was going to run I would not have slowed down in the first place.

Trying to be courteous I pull into the lot of the local Propane supplier and make sure he and I are both out of the way. This is something I always try to do, hoping to make the stop safer for us both.

cop "Do you know why I pulled you over?"
me "No, sir"
cop "Speeding! Do you know how fast you were going?"
me "no sir"
Cop "How fast do you think you were going?"
me "How fast was I?"
cop "take a guess! KEEP IN MIND WHAT YOU SAY DETERMINES WHAT I CHARGE YOU WITH!"
me "being completely honest as soon as I topped the hill I looked down and saw about 61 on the speedo"
cop "WRONG I GOT YOU AT 71!" License, registration, and proof of insurance"
I hand him my license and Concealed Carry Permit, while looking for the insurance
cop "Do you have a weapon in the vehicle?"
me "yes sir"
cop "where is it?"
me "here in the driver's door pocket"
cop while having his gun half way out of its holster "PUT YOUR HANDS ON THE WHEEL AND DON'T MOVE! do you have anything else in the vehicle I should know about?"
me "no sir"
cop "your buddies dead body in the back?" Keep in mind I'm driving a regular cab Sierra pickup
me "DO WHAT?"

he goes back to his car runs my stuff and hands me a ticket for 71 in a 55
cop "if you had been doing 61 like you said I would have let you go, but since you lied to me I'm giving you a ticket, slow it down there is no excuse for how fast you were going. So what kind of animals do you hunt?"

Out of no where he wants to small talk after giving me a BS ticket

Me "any and all, am I free to go?"

I'm taking this one to court, not going to put up with BS tickets on principal. My GF keeps saying "you know a lawyer will cost allot more then the ticket"
I will pay tickets that I have earned, mail in the fine and be done with it. I've gotten maybe three in the past 6-7 years, this is the only one I have ever went to court on.

I've never heard of a cop so edgy with anyone having a CCP and having a gun in the vehicle. Every other cop I've dealt with will say "Ok just don't touch it."
I've even been B***ched out for having a gun in the vehicle that was unloaded. Thought that one was funny.

Heck on my way to take my CCP class a few years ago, I got pulled over because I didn't get slowed down fast enough coming into a 45. Had my hands on the window sill and told the cop I had a gun in the vehicle before he even got to say anything. He asked me to step out of the vehicle ran the gun and my license and told me to leave the gun on the dash and watch my speed. "We don't worry about people with CCP's cause they are generally good people, how else could they get the permit!" He threatened that he could give me a concealed weapon charge because he was not able to see the gun when he walked up the the truck, blued 1911 on a black Carhart jacket in plane site in the passengers seat. He was a cool cop, told me to go get my permit and have a good day.

So just to clear up I do not have a bad attitude towards cops doing their job just one's that make up BS tickets to make themselves feel better. I have only ran into a couple bad apple cops and this is the first that gave me a ticket. Most of the time they have nothing so they just tell you to slow down or some other BS. Most of the cops I've met I tend to like. I look at it, they are doing their job and I'm just driving through their office.

Last night around 00:15HR I was pulled over by San Mateo's finest. It's been a while since my last encounter (actually they're a bit behind) but never-the-less-- like clock work they pulled me over at my favorite pizza joint.

I first saw the officer crossing an intersection (I was stopped at the red light). My first thought.... I'd bet he's going to come around! Sure enough, by the time I reached the next block (I was going to stop anyway to get some pizza) the officer was behind me with lights on.

The keys were out of the ignition and I was pulling out my license. He taps on the window and I open the door;

Me; I crack open the door.
PD: Couldn't you roll down your?

Me: Not when my keys are in my lap.
PD: I pulled you over for not having a front license plate.

Me: What? There's the plate right there in the window.
PD: Well, it's upside down.

Me: What? Unless somebody been in my car it should be right side up (we both look closer and the plate is right side up).
PD: Well, I thought it was upside down. Can I see your DR, reg, and insurance.

Me: It took me about 1-minute searching to find which insurance card (I have four of them). I handed them to the officer and he goes back to the squad car and runs my DR/plates, blah, blah, blah...
PD: (I forgot exactly what he stated at this point)

Why? Cause I was trying to take a picture for Jstricker, hehe. Anyway, I got the okay to leave because the officer and I had a brief conversation about the front plates. I informed him that jackass will rip your plates off to steal another car using your plates. That's one of the reasons why I place it in the front dash. The officer agreed that thieves do steal plates and he didn't have an issue with mine being on the dash (which he could've given me a ticket... if he was a hard nose cop). To be fare to the cop--- the cop was on my left when he saw me at the intersection and the plate was on the opposite side of the windshield.

Anyway, it was cool and he didn't come out lying through his teeth. I was detained for 4-minutes at the most and I afterwards--- I walked over and got me a slice of pizza. However, it's May. The year is young --- so I'll no doubt have two or three more pull over’s before year end. Oh yeah, the front plate has been on the dash since 1999.
