Many of you have followed my musical efforts and been supportive, but I have had enough. Blue musicians and blues music is just so negative that I have to quit. All that drinking, drugs, running around on so many women; it's just so ignorant and useless I can't sing about it any more.
A week from Monday, I will be entering a conservatory to learn to play the violin and study Mozart and Beethoven. I hate to leave some of you behind, but I am looking forward to clean, refined, sophisticated music that doesn't glorify the worst in humanity.

You might just want to try moderation --- send me the booze and the women - about a years worth --- and let's see how it works out for the both of us before you make any life change moves!
If not --- Best of Luck.

"Lots of towns... Lots of songs... Lots of women... Good times... Bad times... Only thing I ever wanted anyone to say is... 'He could really play... He was good'." ~ Willie "Smokehouse" Brown

*Howlin' Wolf (guitar, vocals) with Sunnyland Slim (piano), Little Hubert Sumlin (guitar), Willie Dixon (bass) and Clifton James (drums)
Now THAT is a lineup. Thanks again Willie. We need to spin some records some time. I see your blues and raise you with more:
Professor Longhair.. also one of my nicknames. Still, not half the man as the original. Hope to see Allen Toussaint play this year.. gotta catch that man before he goes.

I saw that also Nick but since he didn't mis-use any commas, I let it go.

Robert cray! I might have to go buy another copy of his strong persuader album since I've lost my original. Man, I played that cd a lot! I especially like his blues guitar work.
Interesting commentary, and I appreciate all of it. I notice none of you pointed out that no matter what I've said, Crossroads keeps turning up, doesn't it?
Some things never change to those that don't observe and yet penquins still can't fly.
------------------ Ron "The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed, lest Rome become bankrupt. People must again learn to work instead of living on public assistance." - Cicero , 55 BC. So, evidently we've learned nothing in the past 2,000+ years.

Heybjorn, I play the violin. I've been playing it since I was 5. If you have any questions on equipment... IE: what bow is better, glass or wood, etc... rosin, strings (Dominant, by far...) and whatever else, feel free to PM me.
The one thing about a violin though is that, like most other instruments, you're kind of on your own without the rest of the "band"... like, a Violin is sort of like an electric guitar in that most of the music is written for an electric guitar and the violin as they are the primary instruments. But nothing sounds great unless you have the electric bass, drums, etc... just like with a violin, you don't get the best music without a full quartet, or say... an orchestra with brass and woodwinds.
Couple of good violin dominant pieces I like are from Mendellson (spelling?) he's an old Jewish guy from somewhere, no idea... but his violin concerto in D minor is pretty cool. You can also make everyone cry at Christmas time with Pacabel Cannon in D, and also Green Sleeves (if you play it sad enough... hah). Or even better... Adagio for Strings by Samuel L. Barber... but then again, I guess you said you were looking for happy music. I've always liked "The Planets" by Gustav Holst... (he's dead now)... pretty awesome suite of music. He wrote a piece for every known planet at the time, based on their Roman-Mythology name-sake. Like... Mars, the bringer of war! It's not exactly happy... but it's definately very "Type-A" personality wise. Also, the brass really have this one... so it's not exactly a great piece for a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd row of strings... but they really get some action here.
