The old Mitsubishi Starions.

They actually had those in Plymouths and Dodges as well.

I found an article on a very nice conversion done to one...

John Lazorack’s V-8-swapped Chrysler Conquest is a testament to the Diy philosophy.

I always like those. They were pretty quick for their time.
They're kind of like Fieros in that they have a bit of a cult following. I believe they eventually evolved into the Eclipse. Sort of.

Yeah I was looking at it thinking, wasn't the Laser and Talon their replacement?

They were pretty neat. I think you could get a 4 cyl turbo in it. Looked a lot like Porsche 924/ 944. I loved the side bulging fenders.

I had a silver one. Man that thing was fast. I got rid of it when I had my first kid. I still miss it!

Ah....The memories! For me, it was a decision between a Fiero GT, and Conquest/Starion TSi, and a Mustang GT. The Fiero won my (then) 19 year old heart.

The Ford dealer wouldn't talk to me seriously. Thought I was just 'some kid' who couldn't afford the car. I didn't like the seats of the Mustang GT Convertible. At the time, Mitsubishi (Starion) and Chrysler dealers around me either didn't have the TSi, or there was only one in the showroom, and so I couldn't actually drive one.

So, then I went to the Pontiac dealer. The salesman (Jim was his name) was slick. He knew how to sell cars, and went out of his way to get me into a Fiero GT. The seats 'just fit'. The sound system was good. The sound of the engine was perfect. And that's how a 19 year old was sucked into the world of Fiero's.

All in all, it was a good thing that I didn't end up with the Mustang. And probably even better that I didn't get a '2.6 liter from hell' Conqest. The 2.6 had numerous cylinder head problems, and the Mustang would've just gotten me into more trouble than the Fiero was capable of.

I wish I still had the Fiero that I bought new. One of these days, I'm going to dig up the VIN number, and see if I can find out what happened to her.....

I see this car around the area all the time and is one of my favorite local cars. It looks even better in person and sounds great!

I like that body too. The old Toyota Supras remind me of it as well.

Down here, like the Fiero I hardly ever see these or the Starion.
About a year ago, I went to a car show and there was a club of Starions.
There must have been 15 or so there.
It was kind of exciting, like I guess people who see a bunch of our cars react when we are on a cruise or at a show.

Are you familiar with the location where the picture I posted was taken? I'd be curious about the history of that old brick building.

I'm actually pretty sure I know where that particular photo was taken (Southwest Detroit near where I work), but I know nothing of the building. Unfrotunately, buildings like that are a dime a dozen in Detroit. If you want to learn and see some cool pics about some of the various abandoned buildings in the D, I suggest browsing www.forgottendetroit.com

Out here in BC, most old buildings are made of wood (as large trees were so plentiful), so brick buildings (to me) are kind of unusual.

I actually owned a blue 1988 Conquest. That picture looks just like my old one. (I didnt have any flag decals on mine) Black interior with sunroof.

It was a good car until the lower end of the motor let go at 95,000 miles.
