Spring fever fellas. (And ladies.) Time to start making those improvements to your Fiero so it's ready for the warm weather cruising. You kill two birds with one stone when you do this radio upgrade. You improve the looks of your interior AND you get to listen to CD music while you're cruising around town.

The next person that orders one of these packages will get it at half price. APRIL FOOLS!! I can't afford to do that. I don't have enough of a margin on these to give any kind of discount.
Seriously though, these are already over half the price of the same unit through any GM dealer. Sure, mine are used, but they're in very good condition, have been tested by me personally and come with a warranty. In fact, it's now a 30 day warranty!!
Don't be an April FOOL! Get one for your Fiero (or your sweetie's Fiero) today.

Actually, I don't believe there is a waiting list at all any more. I just got a couple in yesterday too.
There is no issue with wiring it in an 88. I've had a couple people report that an AC plug was in the way at the back of the opening, but that was easily solved by removing the screw that secures it to the dash and pushing it up a bit. No big deal at all. Of course, I've had an equal number of 88 owners say they didn't have a problem with that plug, so there must be slight variations in tolerances.
There are actually two plugs that are used on the Fiero radios. A large black one and a small white one. There are female plugs for both of these on the adapter. You don't have to cut any of the factory wires to put this in. If you have the Performance Sound System, you will have to splice a couple wires, but I provide instructions for a method that utilizes splices within the adapter now, instead of the car's harness.
I'd be more than happy to sell you one.

FYI, I've got a Monsoon in my 88 and it fits fine. No problems with any cables, although it is a bit of a pain to get all the wiring out of the way as you slide the unit in. You don't need to remove the metal triangle bracket in back, the black post on the back of the radio fits into it. The only thing I did was shim the unit forward a bit with some washers because it didn't quite fit flush with the radio bezel. Other than that, it dropped right in.

When I got the car it a cheap aftermarket stereo in it. I replaced it last night and it has 1 plug. My 85 and 86 have 2 plugs. I have always understood that the 88 radio was different from the earlier years. I'll send you a pic and if your adapter will work I'll take a monsoon cd player.

First I've heard of that. I'm still learning things every day though. If it's all stock, I can assure you this adapter will work. I've had lots of Fiero owners put these in their 88s. Formula88, for instance, put a Monsoon in his.
You can go ahead and send me the pic though. My email address is madproducts@hotmail.com

Sorry for all the confussion. I went to kick hill yesterday was comparing radio's. The 88 plugs are different. The double plug on the earlier models are put together to make 1 plug on the 88's so everything works , it just looks like it won't. Please send me shipping information and I'll get a M/O out to you this week.

Kru,
I purchased one of the Monsoon's from you but have not installed it yet. Can you please provide me with instructions for splicing wires at the adapter instead of the car's harness.
Thanks

NOTE: This isn't an official request for a radio, (yet) so don't order one and have it on your hands cause I dropped out...
With that out of the way, I'd like to know whether it would be *POSSIBLE* for you to obtain a cassette UP3-this way I could mount a CD changer in the front compartment a la Skitime. I surmise that these radios have the "plug" in the back so they can control a changer? Do you have any info on a set up like this?
hey kru...i bought one of those up3 players off of you a few months back and have misplaced my instructions...you say you have a fix in there for the factory sub? if you do ..could you e-mail it to me at shlumpy2000@yahoo.ca
thanks inadvance. ernie.

I happen to have one of the cassette versions of these stereos on hand. It does have the plug in the back for the changer. It would be $60, including shipping to the continental US. $85 with the adapters. Let me know if and when you decide you want it. Of course, now that I have mentioned it, someone else might beat you to it...
I also have a few of the Chevy cassette radios, complete with the remote single CD player...

Sounds nice...do you have any ideas on how much a changer that would work with a UP3 would run? Also, do you get these cassette radios in often? I don't really want to buy one right now, before I have my car...It sounds like a great setup, though! +

Is it possible to hook up one of the CD changers to an indash CD player? I have this setup (from Pioneer though) in my pickup and I love it! I have six discs to use for extended driving, yet when I want switch or try out a new CD I have the indash to use.

I don't know the answer to that one. Maybe I will see about getting a changer with my next bulk purchase and see what kind of configurations I can come up with.

When I pick up my fiero, count me in for a monsoon unit. I'm gonna be replacing all the factory equipment with high-end aftermarket equivalents, and powering them with small highquality amps. the monsoon carries that lil eq, and I find it just about right, given the fact that it'll retain the nice, homey stock look to the car. =D
I'll send word when I find an 88 to my liking hahah

Sounds good. I should still have one. I've got 4 as of right now. Of course, I'm going to be 'peddling' these at the Dells Run later this month. Who knows what my inventory will be like after that...

A note of thanks to kru. I just finished installing my Monsoon Pontiac unit and it installs and works exactly as advertised. Installation was a little frustrating with bundles of harnesses and a couple of large connector blocks giving me grief when I initially tried to insert the unit into the slot, but my perseverence paid off big time. The Monsoon looks and sounds terrific! BTW I have the original Performance Sound system, and your alternate mods (cut white wire and splice harness side to red wire) to the GM adapter harness worked perfectly.
Thanks again for a great product and service.
