As the title states, I am preparing to place the second round of front and rear brake bracket sets as shown in the thread "Improvement on 11/14 in brake upgrade". I currently have 9 people placing orders and need 10 to actually send the order in.

bluefiero, 86goldse4speed, kevin23k, htexans1, GODFATHER, Hurricane, MartyK, 87FieroGT, and LFiero67 are all accounted for.

Each set will consist of 2 front and 2 rear 10 degree brackets cut drilled and tapped, ready for PC or paint. 5 degree rear brackets are available, but need to be special ordered (will replace 10 degree rears in set....no extra charge).

Each set will be $80.00 + shipping and any additions (extra set of rears for example) will be an additional $40.00.

Please PM me with your order and please BE SURE you want them before you order. I will let all know when I am ready to order. Paypal is preferred method of payment, but checks (won't ship until it clears) and M.O.'s are ok.

Thanks

Looks like a small change thanks to tharvey's input......the brackets will be $92.00 including shipping anywhere in the continental U.S. Do this look good for everyone?

Thanks Tim, makes everything a whole lot easier!

Ok I have kind of a weird question. I have the upgrade from the fiero store on the front of my 86 and would like to upgrade the rear. Would this work for that ? What other parts do I need to complete the rears?

It would work but you would now have two different size rotors (9 1/2 f vs 11 1/4 r) for a mismatch. I am not sure how this would effect your braking balance. You should ask some of the more knowledgable guys in the "Technical Question" section.

To answer part two: You would need two rear brackets (only being made in sets of four (2f and 2r), 2 Cadillac Seville rear calipers/pads, and two Lebaron rear rotors. Check the link listed a a post or two ago for the full list.

I do have someone interested in the front brackets only, so if you are interested I can break up a set.

Here's an update on the ordering!

It looks like I can send the order in on January 25th (Thursday)....that is three weeks from today (sorry, that's the earliest my guy could take it).

Anyone interested in ordering brackets needs to PM me (please not a post on this thread) no later than 12:00 pm (noon) on January 24th (Wednesday).

I already have several people (you know who you are) on the list who have PM'd me (about 11 I think),
so get your PM's in if you are interested.

Paypal is the best method of payment and my Paypal addy is : rjblaze@verizon.net
$92.00 including shipping
Any other form of payment should be noted in your PM for the list and I will respond.

HEY, I just noticed I called this the " Improved 11 1/14 inch brake brackets" instead of the "Improved 11 1/4 inch brake brackets"......I am definitely losing it!

Anyway, payments need to be in my hands (paypal, check, MO) by the evening of the 24th. I need to send my guy a 50% deposit before he will start.

No need to send them yet (still two weeks to go) unless you really want to.

Thanks

Almost forgot one VERY IMPORTANT thing. If you are paying with paypal, PLEASE include your PFF username in the note section so I can determine who did and didn't pay. If you are using check or MO, please be sure to include a small note with your PFF name and shipping address.

Thanks Again

Just an update. Time is drawing near....only two weeks left before I am trying to send the order. There is still only 9 names on my PM list (MartyK declined....Dougg was added) and I need at least 10 (hopefully several more) to keep the price down! If you are interested, please PM me a.s.a.p.

Just getting a little nervous over here! I can't afford to eat several extra sets just to be able to place my order with the manufacturer.

Thanks

I had a request to see if I could get the 1.00odx0.50idx.435 thick spacers needed for the conversion. Anyone else interested in these to go along with the brackets. I am waiting for a response from my contact to see about the price for these. Hopefully I could include them at no extra charge if the price is low enough. Any thoughts?

They are the .435" spacers for the front, the rear spacers should be a regular .50" id washer. I still have not gotten a response about these spacers yet, hopefully today or tomorrow.

I just realized (duhhhh!!!!) that a 3/8" steel spacer along with the same size needed for the rear .060" will make a .435" spacer. I was wondering about a 1" piece out of 3/8" thick steel (with the .50" hole drilled in the middle) + the regular washer. I know that this is a two-piece spacer, but it would work. Whatya think?

So,
do you still have to machine the hat off the fiero bearing to use this upgrade?

I might be interested. Do the rear calipers need the e-brake hooked up to work right, like they do on a factory set up. Aslo anybody have a rough estimate on the price of the rest of the pieces.

Yes you have to machine the front rotors to turn them into hubs for this conversion.

The Cadillac rear calipers have e-brakes and hook right up to the stock cables.

Check this thread:

for your list of needed parts

I have an Excel spreadsheet that I tried to copy and paste in this thread, but the formatting is gone, and it is hard to read. I spent just shy of 300 bucks for all the parts I needed to do the swap. I saved a quite a few bucks (approx $100.00) by getting my rear calipers from a parts car. I bought everything else at different parts stores.

Thanks for the info. topcat.

I just spoke to my producer and he could not locate .435" thick steel for the spacers, but we discussed him making 1"x1" squares (with 0.50" hole) from the same steel the brackets are made from. All that would be needed would be 4 more regular 1/2" washers (.060 thick like needed for the rear brackets).

BTW it looks like we are up to twelve sets for the order so far. I person had to drop out due to a change.

I need a count of how many people would want the 1"x1" square 3/8" thick spacers for the front. We would have to add an additional 1/2" washer to get the .435" (7/16th") needed. I already know kevin23k needs a set of spacers. Anyone else? I am trying to get my guy to throw them in with the bracket order and not charge extra. The more the merrier as they say.

This is twofold...
Would it be possible to get the square welded in place and then have the hole drilled while they are still at the machine shop? Then there is no two-piece spacer problem (I think it is mostly just a problem for me and not one mechanically).

Has anyone used the 5 Degree bracket yet? I still haven't seen a write up on that one and it looks like no one has answered your questions about it either...

I will PM with my order (again, finances changed unexpectedly... for the better!! )

Hey guys. I am still wondering if the rear calipers need to be hooked up to the e-brake to work. I don't have the e-brake stuff on my car. So I need to know if I am gonna have to buy the e-brake stuff also. Thanks .

I'm pretty sure you don't "need" the e-brake cables attached for the Cadillac calipers to apply the brakes. I just think it would be a good idea to have a functioning e-brake system on "my" car. It's a safety thing, you know. Doesn't your state inspection check for an operable e-brake? Better check with some of the "engineer" types on here....maybe in the Technical section?

If you don't want rear ebrakes, just use the front calipers on all 4 corners. I'm sure this was covered in the original thread. They are interchangable.

If I remember right; no, you don't need them to work, they will still adjust themselves properly. It would be cheaper to go with the front all around.
Now for my personal complaint: You are required to have an operable parking brake (more properly, an EMERGENCY brake). No one plans to need the E-brake but it is a safety requirement in every state (because it is a Federal requirement).
Some places even require you to use the E-brake for parking...

Thanks for the info guys. Its not that I don't want a e-brake, I just needed to know if I needed it hooked up to have the rear brakes work right. That way I could put them on and purchase the e- brake hardware over a month or so.

Bump for the upcoming deadline...

Second, I was just at Fiero Dave's website and he says the E-brake does have to be hooked up for the rear calipers to adjust correctly. I do not know why and do not understand the difference as I have been under the impression that if you didn't use the E-brake from time to time, just the E-brake would be out of adjustment. If the Fiero caliper needs it though, the Caddy caliper should also need it...

EDIT:
Oh, and payment is sent!
