Bump again.

Plus I'll give $5.00 more if you want to leave the C/V & Tri-pot ends on the axles.

how do you remove the tripods from the axles, if you dont need them ill remove them to save weight, otherwise ill just take the end pieces off at the boot, 100% of my axle failures have been from bad boots, mostly on the short axle side, ive got almost all perfect long axles, but if you dont need the entire axle ill remove this stuff.

ive got 7-8 axles maybe more, ill have to double check, but ill keep a axle or two for me as a spare.

Also i do want the limo archie, but with gas prices going up, my cost of living has gone way up but yet my pay seems to be the same, i guess that cuts some toys out, i did purchase a $400 BMW the otherday just so ill have back seats (it does run/drive just fine) *IF* you find someone heading from you location with an empty trailer and they are heading somewhere near, or through charleston WV let me know, if i have the money to send ya plus pay for the cost of their fuel only (since they are heading this way anyway) then ill possibly take the car still, ive got over a grand saved at the moment, but who knows what i could dwindle that down, i was at 1600 saved before i purchased the BMW.

with the wife and now two kids, i just cant get the logistics down to go get the car, plus i have no way of towing it back, i do have access to my fathers dump truck but at 8MPG its not sensable to take it.

I'll keep all of that in mind.

Removing the ends s kinda a nasty job & the labor & nastyness (<~is that a word?) of taking them apart is much of the reason paying a little additional shipping might be a better idea. That's why I'm offering more if you don't remove the ends.

To Remove them, you have to remove the bands holding the boots on and slide the boots towards the center of the shaft. Then on the Tri-pot end you pull off the tripot & wipe away a ton of grease so you can see the snap rings. With snap ring plyers open up the inner snapring & move it towards the center of the axle a little bit. Then slide the spyder towards the center a little bit. That will allow you to have access to the outer snap ring. remove that snap ring completely, slide the spyder off the axle. Then you'll have to open up the 1st snap ring again and take it off the axle completely, then you can remove the old boot. On the outboard C/V joint you have to wipe out the grease enough to see the snap ring that's inside the inboard end of the C/V. You have to open up that snap ring while pulling the C/V joint off of the axle.

If you've never done it before, you will never want to do it again after you've done the 1st one. Like I said it's a nasty job. Don't do it on the living room carpet.

We're used to doing it here & we have all the right tools to do it & we still don't like to do it, But we HAVE to, you don't.

Archie

just an FYI for anyone else selling Archie their axles and shipping through the Post office.

I sent mine today and shipping from MN to IL was $18.50!

MN to IL is not very far... so consider your shipping costs.
Just an FYI:

Archie, mine is en route to you.

i sent a 4 speed transmission to kansas city from charleston WV via a wooden crate at 117lbs fedex ground and it cost about $65 bucks.

i figure 6-8 axles will be about the same weight, maybe alittle less and ill crate them as well if i have the wood.
