I have a quick question about how well the material will stand up to the elements. You mention they seem a bit more rigid than the originals, do you anticipate they will spider crack like the originals did? Thanks.
The spider cracking you refer to is called "crazing" The cause is alcohol based cleaners. The surface is actually porous so the small molecule alcohol enters easily. These panels should last at least as long as originals and originals are over 20 years old now. If proper care is done the originals or new OEMS will not craze. The sun will make them more brittle over time but not craze. As far as I know these are no more resistant to the sun as the originals though. I'm told they are more resilient but we really won't know if this is true for 20 or so years. You can buy good plastic cleaners at places like Tap plastics or orchard hardware.

Any chance of some teaser photos ??? Or we just going to hold out till ready for production ?
Maybe.
Actually I was thinking of starting a thread about them in general. We have a pretty good idea they are gonna turn out great. Testing has been very positive. I have decided to send the mold back for some revisions and then I will retest a new batch.
It costs over a grand to do a batch of test panels. I was hoping for perfection first time out the gate but I also knew it was extremely unliky to happen that way.

That looks great! Can't wait to see them finished. Those look to be very close for the first test batch. You should feel very proud. Great work Pokey! Now its getting exciting!

The team test fitting them to the car and marking up areas needing attention.
At far left is Oz, the guy leaning over the decklid is Rick who made the molds, at rear is Andrew (pokey), and to the far right is Richard. I took the pic.

OMG! I read from my last post to here. Some very interesting stuff. I now know more about the production of GT windows, and human nature than I will ever need to know... I will be needing two sets, hope I can afford them.

Is there any way to get my money back from Lori Castro? Paypal says that all disputes must be initiated within 45 days after payment, but here obviously its fast approaching two full YEARS since I paid. They (Paypal) go on to recommend that buyer and seller resolve issues amongst ourselves, but I see no way to do this since she seems to have no email or internet, and the good people at the Fiero Factory won't even put calls through to her anymore. Does she have her own phone? Maybe Visa can help me?
Please do not respond if you're just posting in support of Lori; her business skills or lack thereof are not my problem; I followed HER rules, joined HER waiting list and when she emailed me asking for payment because she'd be shipping "later in the week" I paid promptly and in full using Paypal. NOWHERE was I under the impression I was just funding her trial and error experiments with her windows.

Nothing new. He took the weekend off for a well deserved rest. Rick is still fine tuning the molds I believe.
Oh man! So much for taking a couple days off. I'm safer working. We went to a company picnic at Bonfonte Gardens and the whole time my phone rang with one emergency after another. I wanted to shut it off but I had left a man in the field working so all my other crews kept calling. Blah blah blah we can't think on our own Blah blah blah what do we do Blah blah blah Come wipe my ass Blah blah blah. So I decided to drown my anger in a funnel cake. Took the Niece on a few rides and got sick. No problem that is what bathrooms are for. Well the bathrooms were disgusting. Just kinda smiled and suffered for the sake of the kid having a good time. We head back to Ann's sisters house, I'm feeling better but really exhausted. I was thinking work doesn't get me this tired. We had a great dinner with Omaha steaks but I ate real lite considering the pin wheel in my stomach just started to slow down. We all sat in the living room to watch a singing play sort of thing Ann and my niece(7 year old) put together. My brother in law (Ben) had just sealed his garage floor and the fumes of peroxide were everywhere. But it wasn't bugging anyone else so I watch the show. Well it was horrible and so funny. I tried to conceal my laughter and I looked to my left and Ben was about to start laughing also. That broke me and I started cracking up. I tried to get up and turn so I wouldn't ruin their show and that's all I remember. Things got dark and I remember hearing some noise of wood crashing together. I passed out and I'm told stumbled a bit before falling straight down like a tree. My head hit square on a steel foot of the dining room table. I went into convulsions for two minutes. Ben moved everything out of my way and I guess tried to keep me from hurting myself anymore. I came to hearing his voice and looking at the grain of the wood floor. Wood floor is a very confusing thing to figure out. I didn't know where I was or in what position I was in. I only knew his voice, A screaming pain in my head that felt like white electricity trying to get out of my skull and that damned confusing wood floor. I followed the voice and to my surprise there was a blurry vision or everyone standing sideways like they were attached to the wall. It literally took 30 seconds for my brain to reboot to understand I was the one laying down.Over the next couple minutes I felt things like speech and motor function come back but they kinda felt like they were in safe mode. Not the whole program just enough to move and slur a bit. I scared the hell out of my family and I myself was fairly concerned but the pain in my head really took all my attention.
I get a MRI in the morning to check for problems. I have had my skull put back together before so I'm worried something holding me together is broken. I squeezed my jaw together real tight today to try and line everything up and there was a loud crack that even Ann heard and then the pain in the left side of my head went away instantly.
So there is my weekend. I have slept most of the day on a day still to dizzy and in pain to move a lot. I have been planning on working in my yard for weeks. I'm very depressed I lost my only day off. God knows when I will get another.

Dude.....that's some freakin scary stuff goin on there!!! Hope you feel better, and hope the doctors can figure out what caused your blackout.......high blood pressure and stress maybe?? Dang!!! Take care of yourself!!
That's the last time you'll be complaining about how hard I make you work!
Relax for a couple days. Trust me, I know how hard it is to do but you can.
I have no choice. They pulled my drivers license. I have a job out in Martinez I can't finish not to mention I need to drive out to San Carlos to approve the molds before we send them to Milpitas for more tests. I need to finish the job in Martinez to help pay for production costs after we have a working system. Even if you threw me another remodel job I couldn't do it to save my life. I'm ****ed three ways to Sunday. Damn Docs have me grounded. I tell them I can take it and I wouldn't hold them liable but they really don't care what I say. They just stick me in more machines. If I had the resources these doctors seem to have with spending money and equipment I could make anything I wanted in no time.
It is gonna cost me another 5 grand to get everything going including the printing and I should have that in time but I may have to use credit to actually get the retail models out to customers that want them. That is assuming I make a good product and all goes well.
Damn it sometimes it seems the harder I trudge forward the farther behind I get. I'm getting pissed. It's going to be a real bad winter if I don't get this **** together. I was worried I wouldn't have windows on my car for the Coast Run and Now I'm worried I won't even be able to drive my car there at all. Oh the Drama! All I want to do is work.

Pokey man I know the frustration but hey. You are alive and we would rather keep you that way than worry about when we get the windows. Take it easy and things will fall into place for you. Get well man and my families best wishes are with you.

Someone know why Fierostore hadnt jump yet in the GT quarter windows bandwagon? They are trying to make sevaral hard to find parts, and they started to make rear GT tailight lense, something probably harder than a simple GT quarter window. Although they use the original tooling for the lense. So why they didnt make them yet? Just curious.

Ya Perry has got a point. The fiero store should of got into it by now. Probably those GT windows are the most wanted item that is on a GT fiero. They did a great job with the rear taillight lense. That was a hit, no question. BTW, Pokey has come from scratch on this project. I wish him the best with finishing the windows. Many, many fiero folks with be happy to install new GT windows on their fiero than the other re-pros that are / were on the market now.
Anyways, it looks like Pokey has all the tools to make these window. Probably better that the tooling that GM started with.

Well... so far Lori, no windows.... and pokey has alot invested also but his personal issues look like they will be making this project drag out much longer than he or anyone else expected, so if your in the market for a new set of OEM originals your SOL, but for now.... but with options like JimmyS has put on the table " https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum4/HTML/043053.html " with the option to paint to match your car, add custom graphics easy (test fit on my car pic)
why should anyone be struggling to cover up that missing section of the GT rear clip?

Pokey is being held-up until he gets his license back. After his fall he had his license temporarily suspended until his doctor gives him the green light to drive again. Stay tuned.

huh? You mean in California a doctor can have a driver's license suspended? Wow, I guess I really do live in "the sticks". Out here in Tennessee we may have a doctor recommend we don't drive for some reason, but it is not binding.

In certain cases they can. I don't want to talk about the "specifics" of Andrew's case. If he wants to share he can. But yes, a doctor can suspend driving on medical grounds.

Same in AZ. My sister had her license suspended for 3 months recently due to medical issues.
