As you may know, Rodney Booth, Chop Top #18 owner, has been working on getting a Vendor who can make compound curve side windows that will fit the V-8 Archie Chop Tops (& could also fit other Chop Tops done the way we do them). You can read about his efforts in this thread https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/074795.html
We've been sending his steel chop top windows back & forth in an effort to get them fitted correctly in a few chops that I have here. We are doing our best to get them to where they will fit all 25 Chop Tops we've built so far. Also if you're placing an order, please add your name to this thread.
Archie
Well, I just laid down some bread for three sets. Thanks Archie. "Let's get-here-done."

Right now we have 19 sets spoken for & payments or payment information in for 11 sets.
I had wanted to make the trip over to get this started last week but payments were not coming in as had been expected. So that trip got put off.
This week is all about getting ready to go to the Dells. I really would like to get this in motion next week. So the people who haven't contacted me about payment yet should call ASAP.

If Archie hasn't already done so, maybe his sending a PM or an e-mail reminder to those who haven't backed up their words with a payment would help. However, at this juncture, maybe I shouldn't be too hopeful about that proving very successful.
In any case, given that madcurl ordered 3 sets, if nobody else ordered more than 1 set, that means that almost 1/2 (8 of the 17 PFF members) who ordered chopped glass side windows still haven't made arrangements for payment yet.
If you're one of those 8 people, please at least extend to Archie the basic courtesy of confirming whether you're arranging for payment, or you're backing out of this group buy, OK?

i'm not speaking for archie but i don't think archie is buying extra sets for the possibilty of shipping damage. i'm sure the windows will be insured when he ships them. i'm sure he could ship them any way you specify as long as you pay for the shipping.
he may buy a couple extra sets but not for that reason. i doubt he would want to have a big inventory of "just in case" windows, that could get very expensive for him. if you're worried about shipping damage you could pick them up if desired.
lets get this rolling people, if you don't want to pay up and you said you were in on this at least let archie know. let's not hem and haw and look for lame excuses to back out of this deal. you're holding up others and wasting time.
no posers please!!

any news or timeframe archie? have enough people paid up yet to get this moving? would love to have the glass in hand, and therefore glass installed. time to start lighting some fire under peoples butts. i know you'll get this going as soon as you can but i guess i'm just antsy for some glass. let us know what's going on. thanks in advance for making this available archie.
as it always is, 20 people say they are in and only 1/2 back it with money wishfull thinking is one thing but don't say you are in when you can't come up with the money.
I am not in that big of a rush for mine because my car has a long way to go but it would be nice to get what I have paid for!
i call those types trolls, all talk and nothing to back it up, come on people pay up or let archie know you're backing out, it's the polite thing to do. don't be a troll

I've not received one recently (and I'm assuming, perhaps erroneously, there was one).
In early May, you acknowledged receipt of my $650 PayPal payment. You'd also expressed an interest then in sending e-mails for any updates, rather than PMs. Accordingly, I just resent to you at the e-mail address listed on the "Contact Information" page of your website (where I sent you my PayPal payment earlier) confirmation of my own e-mail address, home address, and telephone number.
I think I was one of the first five to pay up, so if there are any updates more recent than the one I received from you in early May, I'm anxious to hear about them from you because the subject of this thread, the "Glass Chop Top Side Windows Group Buy," seems an excellent idea.
great news! thanks archie, i appreciate your efforts in this endeavour..........people who haven't paid up, get off your can and put your money where your mouth is/was. don't leave archie holding your bag!
thanks again archie!

Alright enough of the Joe Blow thing LOL . Hey Dean if you own that shop can I come work for you?
LOL! no not that shop, the Joe Blow glass shop down the street I only hire people I don't like because I know they will become glass zombies over time. LOL
I want out????????
anyway....................................................... Next! D.
Are there any sets that are spoken for and not paid for? Or available? I want atleast one set if not two. Funds will soon decide.
Archie i sent you a Pm a few weeks back.
Lookin forward to a response.
The minimum order on this run is 25 sets. 18 seta are spoken for so far, that means that I'm buying 7 sets to make this happen at the same price we were originally quoted.
That means I have 7 sets extra right now. I do plan on holding some of them back for future chops.
The sample windows I took there will be scanned to go to their tool making equipment & that the tooling will then be made. I'm told that actual production of the windows will begin about the 1st of the month.
Up until that point i can always increase the number of windows we want to order.
So if anyone wants to get in on this buy, they should call me before the 1st of the month.
When I originally talked to the guy about how long it would take, he said 8 weeks.

Traveled 896 miles yesterday in just under 20 hours.
Got the window masters dropped off to the supplier.
I was very impressed with the operation they have there.
It isn't like dropping something off at Joe Blow's corner glass shop.
They have a 200000 Sq. Ft. factory with about 140 employees & the right equipment to do the job.
They were impressed with what we were doing with the Fieros & I passed out several V-8 Archie "T" shirts that have the pics of 2 chop tops on them.
I took a tour of their engineering dept. & talked with their engineering people about the masters & what we needed.
They have the right equipment to digitize the countours of window glass (pics below).
Confidence is high.

I have not had that much time to post on this latey but I wanted to say first off I want to thank Rodney for taking the time to do all the R&R to help get all the fellow chop top owners real glass in there cars. I also want to thank Archie for in my opinion going up and beyond any company I have ever dealt with to also make this glass project a reality. To drive the distances he has and put out the money he has when he like the rest of us is probably not in the best financial sistuation to do so hits me in the chest a little bit. He is a businessman and like all businesses his first priority is to make money. Well its obvious to me and I am to sure others that he is only doing this to help all his customers thaty he has had over these many years when he doesnt need to. I really appreciate when this happens because we all know that it just doesnt happen. So thanks Rodney and Archie.
