Getting excited to see these made! Sorry I can't answer your questions because I cant take my sunroof all apart because the car sits outside. I'm looking forward to seeing some pictures of what you come up with!

The drawings are done!!! Now for the programming, that I have to do at work. I have images that I would love to post, but PIP is not cooperating. I get "unkown error (12003- FTPUpload File:FtpOpenFil" whatever that means. And I get it with the older images I post too, so it isn't just for these images. I am looking at 20 ga stainless steel. The studs will be stainless also. They will be M8 x 25mm, hopefully that will be long enough and not too long.

I may be interested in a couple sets of these depending on price. I wish i came back to this sooner, could have sent you a complete set with the bolts but i guess you have everything you need. Any idea on a price? Also if you want you can email the pictures to me and i can post them up for you if you're still having issues.

Update

picked up some scrap powdercoated material for testing. I don't have much stainless so I have to do my prototyping with mild steel. Any way I can successfully bend these. So now I have to program the punch and start making blanks. Talked to the roller guy and he has his reservations, but I think we can pull these off!! So if your interested in white powder coated tracks they will be the first off the line. I think I have enough material to make about 30 sets. The stainless I think I can get about 15 sets. I am watching for more stainless and will update as I get more.

i wish you luck with this, I'll be watching this closely.

Edit to add, you should start your own thread for these.

Got a little more testing done today. I am not worried about the straight pieces I know that they can be done. The curved piece I have to make 12" longer for the roller. The roller centers are about 6" away from the center roller and I didn't calculate that in. Stay tuned we are getting closer!!

And now for some great news and some bad news. The great news is I have produced a set of white powdercoated sunroof tracks!!!! I placed the sample parts over the new and the match is close enough to perfect!!! So if anyone is interested in the white material I have let me know. The white material will come in at $60.00 per set and the stainless will come in at $75.00. The holes will be drilled and the t-nuts will now be welded studs. The tracks will not have the t-nut dimple. And if I can find some cheap rubber for the bottom side I will throw that in too.

The bad news is the scrap sheet of stainless I have is 48" x 48" and I need 50" in order to roll the windshield curved track. I am going to see if we can make this work. This longer length is due to the roller. The outer rolls are about 6" from the center roll so I end up with 6" flat ends. So since I said I would produce stainless I will call around and see if anyone has any 20ga ss drops laying around.

If I can get into the shop on Saturday, I will produce as many sets as I can. I would like to get 5 sets of each produced.

No we are dealing with 20 ga .036" thick. Really thin stuff. We are thinking about trying a backer strip. We will see what happens.

Will the install require any mods to make them work and will they hold the rubber gasket the same way the factory traccks do?
Post some pics if you can.
I mayy be interested in the stainless as well. Haven't removed mine yet but might as well have a set handy . . . Just in case.

Direct replacement use the same tools to install as to remove. The only difference is instead of a bolt tightening them down, there will be a stud with a nut.
