Thanks Rob I got mine yesterday. Now can anyone tell me how to remove the light console to get to the wiring overhead. I don't see any screws and I don't want to just start prying.

What are cars are these from? Do they have to come from a GM car? Will that fit the button already in a Fiero?

In case you haven't got it off yet, there are 2 screws in the grooves where the sunvisors snap in, and 2 more under the clear lenses. Just be careful prying out the lenses, they be old!

I just found the dimming compass mirror I bought for a Fiero years ago, finally get to install it in one! I only used it for a couple weeks before I took it out last time - it rattled like crazy. Now I see it was the compass sensor thing rattling, I'll shim it this time. Though I have no use for a compass with GPS these days.. Love the dimmer though - I put the dimmer / homelink one in my Scion when I bought it. Use it to turn on the kitchen door light when I get home.

3800 swap is on the road! Too bad it only drove 30 feet before the brand new clutch apparently ate itself... Now I have to start it in gear...

Yes, these came from GM vehicles and they will fit the stock button on your Fiero windsheild. I have spare buttons as well..

Not sure if there is a switched +12 volts in there. I would run a wire from the fuse box.

There is no "Install link" per say. The pin out is in the thread on page 1. You install the mirror on the windshield wedge and run the needed wires to a location of your choice.

Pin layout is as follows:

PIN 1 = PINK = POWER = +12 volts* - Switched.
PIN 2 = BLACK = CHASSIS, GROUND*
PIN 3 = LIGHT GREEN = BACKUP LIGHTS*
If not using the backup feature, connect this to ground otherwise auto dim will not function properly.
PIN 4 = GRAY = TO AUTO DIM OUTSIDE MIRROR - NOT USED
PIN 5 = PINK = TO AUTO DIM OUTSIDE MIRROR - NOT USED
PIN 6 = DARK GREEN/WHITE = TEMP SENSOR**
PIN 7 = BLACK/WHITE = TEMP SENSOR**16 pin: (*required; **required if you have a temp display)

The colors may vary so go by pin number...

Thanks.

Google is your friend

Covers a few models...wiring and use...

http://allscion.com/images/...%20all%20mirrors.pdf

Temperature Functions:
1) Push Temp switch for 3 seconds until display blinks °F or °C. Release, then toggle
Temp switch to select between °F and °C. Release then toggle the temp switch to select either °F or °C. After 5 seconds of no switch activity, display will return to
normal temperature reading.

Compass calibration:
a) Zone Variation: This compass must be set to compensate for the variation between true north and magnetic north. To set variation:
1) Turn ignition on.
2) Using the map, (Fig. 19), to find your geographic location, note the zone that you are in.
3) To select zone, push in the Comp. switch for 3 seconds until the zone selection comes up. Release, then toggle until correct zone is found and release switch. After 5 seconds of no activity, display will return to normal temperature reading.
b) Compass Calibration: This compass automatically calibrates itself while the vehicle is
driven as your route takes you in complete circles. Therefore no calibration should be required, though it may take up to an hour. A quicker method is listed below. If the vehicle’s compass headings become inaccurate, the compass can be manually calibrated by:
1) Turn ignition on.
2) Zone variation needs to be changed for use in different areas of the country.
3) For a different Zone selection, see a3 above.
4) To re-calibrate, hold the Comp switch for 6 seconds until CAL is displayed. Drive
your vehicle in at least 3 circles, allowing 45 seconds to complete one circle.

Hey Rob,
Thanks for the info.
It's really great when someone sells something and then is nice enough to do the extra leg work to make everything smooth for all. I will deff buy more things from you in the future.
You are a good man and this is a great forum.

Positive rating given from me.......
