We'll shoot for the usual meetup in Paso Robles, for the trip across the mountains.

Any thoughts on what to do if the Pfeiffer Canyon Bridge (south of Big Sur) isn't fixed when the Coast Run rolls around?

Caltrans is estimating 6 to 9 months. So figure 18 months. I think we definitely need a back up plan.

Oh wow! I just saw this on the noon news and that they're totally tearing it down! This area has been really ravaged by all the rain we've had following several years of drought. There may be more road and shoreline deterioration, mud and rock slides, and fallen trees between now and summer depending on how much more rain we get.

Not looking good for the original route. Looking into other options now. We'll stay with the same dates, and see what we can find. Definitely open to suggestion and discussion.

Hello all you Coast Runners!

Sounds like we have much more interest in this year's California Coast Run. Really looking forward to my 4th consecutive year!

We've gotten some early confirmations and some questions about the specific route / destination this year due to the weather induced demolition of a bridge has that completely closed Hwy 1 between San Simeon and Carmel for perhaps 6 months to a year.

Since the thread you are currently reading is actually the specific thread for last year's event I would like to suggest that all further comments, confirmations and questions be posted in the new thread for the upcoming 2017 event.

https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum7/HTML/000570.html

If you have already confirmed your participation in this year's event or have any questions or comments that have already been posted in the old thread I would suggest you repost them there so we can have some continuity for this event.

Thanks!

More bad news on the coast! It says 1 mi. south of Gorda. Article also refers to another road in from 101 to the Big Sur area, but all the roads out there would have to be checked out for condition, time, and services. I obviously didn't get the above link posted correctly--just copy it and paste it.

This may be a long shot, but what about driving around the slide- thru FT. Hunter-Ligget.....Go 'round to Bradley, then to Jolon thru the base and over to Nacimiento-Fergusson road to H1.....You may want to try calling the base...see if they can escort us across.....and back later that day.

Probably a long shot.....But it wouldn't hurt to check....
