The MrMicke package arrived at the airport today. Got a phone call.

-Hi there, this is from the airport. You have a package from USA here. Do you know what it is?
-Yes. It´s a set of seatcovers that MrMicke sent for me too try and get customers here in Sweden.
-OK, but he wrote on the paper that it´s free of charge but a value of $515
-Yes, it´s a promotion shippment.
-But you cant do that as a privat person. You need too pay tax and soo on.
-Damn. OK. If you say soo.

Another $100 or more. Well I want the seat covers soo no crying...
Thanks for trying MrMicke

Here in The Netherlands they charge 6% import tax + 19% VAT (25% subtotal) over package value AND shipping from the US, then there are also handling fees etc....many times I end up paying double price of the goodies because of the shipping and tax...

Ask the seller to put a much lower value or "used car parts" on the package and have any bill sent seperately....worked for me a few times, too bad your promotion shipment didnt work out.

Yup same here too...we get taxed (massively) on product AND shipping charges!!!! Some kind people alledgedly send goods as "Used Autoparts" or specify half the value on the package and then send the full invoice seperately.......I am forever grateful to the kind people who might possibly sometimes do this for some people sometimes....otherwise you can basically just double the sale price to get the real cost.

Cheers
PK

Shipping things into Australia is expensive as well. If it is under $1000 luckily we get away with it having no charges, most of the time. After that we cop about 33% in taxes. A good way to work out what something is here is take the USA dollar price. Say $1000 US. Then triple that amount and call it AU dollars for a total of $3000 AU landed, freight, taxed etc etc.

Yes. However, when I installed Mr. Mike's in #15 I thought I was sitting on ballons. After 1500 miles the material settled (compressed). Please do post pics.

nice, "neighbour"

here taxes are 12.4% import then 25 "vat"

let's se what that makes it.
80+20shipping= 100+12.4% = 112.4 + 25% = 140.5
but if the value + shipping is less than 40 US$ it's tax free!

man that's worse than i thought. something worth 80 almost doubles! or 40.5% on top of total including shipping.

nu skal jeg have glögg.

hans
