"Ohio Indy" good for you, just like the t-top book I have been working on for 1988 CJB cars that I've been working on since 1991, it's going to be a "graas roots" project because Pontiac isn't going to help. I can give you good news and bad news. Good news; Never to late to start it Bad news; I've been working on mine for 14 years and almost done and I only had to find 1252 BUT DON"T GIVE UP!
doug kinney has 3 of them in wheeling WV might wanna get in contact with him
theres another one in a junkyard here in sissonsville WV called baldwins its a total heap, and very very little left on it thats not covered in inches of mold, but its there none the less.
Okay please insert mine into the list. 1G2AF37R8EP272064 Auto 149,000 Bates City, MO 1G2AF37R4EP237733 4spd 100,000 Bates City, MO 1G2AF37R9EP269576 4spd 90,000 Bates City, MO I can't find any info on my fourth one It must be in the car. I took the car to Sedalia MO today in preperation of the display at the Missouri State Fair on Sunday. I will get the info posted when I find it. We also have at least five more in our Kansas City Club. I will try to get that info also.
I am going to throw this out here purely to see if someone else has this document...
Back about 6 years ago, there was a guy in AZ that purchased an Indy Fiero from me. I think his name was Greg. He indicated at the time I met him in Amarillo Texas that he worked with some guy from the GM test place in Mesa. This guy had a document that was faxed from GM in MI with all the Indy VIN's. I told him if he had such a document that it would be worth some money to Fiero people to finally nail down the amount of Manual's vs Auto's during the 84 build cycle of the Indy pace car.
Well, about 2 months later, that document showed up on ebay. It went for some really high dollar value, like I think $550. I figured it was just bogus bidding. Turned out however, I emailed the guy when I saw his Indy up for sale on ebay about 2 years ago. He had the document, and it sold to the high bidder with an agreement to never share the document with anyone else.
I wonder who purchased that document? It was about 20 pages long. The fax quality was really bad.

anyone know how to break down these VIN#'s to determine placement on the assembly line? Who has the lowest production numbered Indy and all that. just tought it might be fun to figure it out
If you have ever driven in the Phoenix area you know the answer to how you total a car (or in this case get totaled by a drunk or illegal.) After the 2nd one I gave up until this year when I decided to try again. I don't drive it much however.
I have driven in Phoenix AZ several times. each of those times I was forced to be on my guard. I swear half the people on the roads in that area drive like idiots. I can see how it would be possible to total more than one car there
OhioIndy I got four more for you with data sheets from two also.. Please keep me up to date on these and I will get you more. Also one is from Ebay. Hopefully, Toddster will pop in here, as he's had at least 4 Indys that I can remember (and thats in the last year or so). He also knows who the guy is with the list of all the Indy VINs and has been trying to convince him to release it for a long time, but the guy won't budge (I don't know why, Todd probably does).

My Web page | The Turbo Super Duty Build. You know that little voice that says it can't be done? I duct-taped mine's mouth shut and pushed it down a flight of stairs.
Found another today at a show. 1G2AF37R1EP260645 manual 25,000 Euclid, Oh I forgot to say this car had real light tan seat belt tops that are near the console. The part conected to the floor was gray but the tops where you slip the metal end into was the tan part and not the Beechwood color. I did not have my camera but they looked to be orignal. I am wondering if they ran out and put these in?????? Rick B
VIN# 1G2AF37R4EP267329 4 speed manual Currently with 91,045 miles Indy scoop with working pace lights Daytona rims (that look very close to the actual Indy Fiero rims) wrapped with official Indy 500 tires Location: West Lebanon, NH Owner: Steve Kelley This is the only Indy Fiero known to have paced races in 2004 to celebrate not only the 20th anniversary of the Fiero in general, but to also celebrate the fact that the Fiero paced the 68th Indianapolis 500 Race held back on May 27, 1984. My Indy was featured in a few newspapers and had a small article printed about it pacing in 2004 in an issue of High Perfomance Pontiac. All modifactions that were done to this Indy were done as to not effect it in anyway from being easily put back to original stock condition. No holes drilled for scoop, etc. I also have two sets of original Indy rims, one set that is near mint from an extremely low mileage Indy with the original Goodyear tread still on them.

The master Indy VIN list does exist. I was bidding for this list many years ago, I'd guess 5 years. It sold for $200. I just couldn't pay more for the master list than $200 at the time. I wanted to make the list public knowledge. The new owner of the master list has never come forward.
The high bidder's username was something like "azfieroguy" or "azindyfiero".
The seller of the master list, if I'm not mistaken, was Joe Wynman. Joe also had rare items such as 89 fiero end links on ebay at the time.
The master list WAS accurate, I tested it. I emailed Joe many 1984 VINs and asked him to tell me which were Indys (I already knew which were, and were not Indys). All the VINs I supplied were legit. He correctly replied as to which were Indys. He complemented me on my cleverness to test the master list, because others had flat-out told him the list was fake.
There's a guy named Peter Rutledge that started a Indy VIN list back in '98. I have a list he emailed me of 48 other Indy owners. Maybe some have already posted here. As I get time, I'll compare and post what's not already here.
1G2AF37R5EP270238 This was in auto trader. It is also listed as having power steering and a 4 speed automatic over drive trans. LOL South Carolina is the area.

That on is already on the list above.
I do find it interesting that the the VIN#'s for all the Indys, although reflecting the cars order of assembly at the Pontiac Plant, seem to have no baring on the the order in which they were actually Indy'ized. because the Prototype is way down the list and if i am not mistaken, had tan interier originally because they had not yet made red interiers for the Indy production cars yet.
It is almost as if they already made the mass of 84 Fieros, had them all shuffled on that huge storage lot they were all parked on, and then were just randomly selected out of order to be Indys
What is the story on the F having to be in the Indy VIN? The reason I ask is almost half of the cars on the auto trader have the same as the Indy http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/searchresults.jsp?advanced=y&certified=&isp=y&search=y&lang=en&search_type=both&make=PONT&model=FIERO&make2=&start_year=1984&end_year=1984&min_pr ice=&max_price=&max_mileage=&distance=0&address=44109&engine=&fuel=&drive=&transmission=&doors=&color=&x=103&y=12 Rick B
