Is there anyway to post where the strut towers are in that diagram? Could you also post 8.5" with a 56mm offset and 9.5" with a 65mm offset please?

The red line is an estimate as to where the towers are...may not be accurate. Feel free to send me measurements so I can make it right. [This message has been edited by Joe Torma (edited 07-13-2006).]

Could you also put up 8.5 with a 25mm offest and 9 with a 38mm offset (Skyline wheels. Project Corvette Magnesium is looking a little grim due to wheel offset and mod cost ).

Thanks Joe!!
Excellent info source on offsets and tire profiles!! I have printed off both for my personal "Fiero Info" book. The majority of forum postings have really been helpful as I search the archives, finding answers, project info and suggestions. I'm a regular reader, finding most often that I don't need to post a question, since it has been answered at some previous time.

ok, this may be the last time I due this, so can you once again please put up 9" with a 35 offset? I think I've finally found a staggered set of wheels in my style and price range. The rear might require coilovers but that's not too much of a biggie.

Why is that when I try to order rims and tell them I have a Fiero, they immediately tell me the wheels will not fit? Mine is an 1988: the wheels are Front: 18X7.5 48mm offset Rear: 18X8.5 35mm offset Am I wrong in that they won't work? What size tires should I get? ------------------ 1988 Purple Fiero GTw/SC3800 conversion Best ET with 3.0 pulley,XPHOT cam, SS I/C and 105lb Valve springs: 12.38@110mph Best 60 Foot ever: 1.699

Should I get the 18X7.5 38mm offset instead for the rear? I want a 245 series tire. I don't want it to stick out past the fenders. [This message has been edited by SOULCRUSHER (edited 09-21-2006).]

After some debate I am thinking of these: FR: 17X7 48mm offset or 18X7.5 48mm offset RR: 18X7.5 38mm offset
Which set do you guys think will look best?

They represent the outer edge* of the popular GT stock wheels taking into account the offset(see top yellow ones) so you can judge how far your new wheels will stick out. For 88 fronts, go by the left line, and for 86-87 front & 86-88 rears use the right. *minus lip thickness [This message has been edited by Joe Torma (edited 11-30-2006).]

Hey Joe great thread! I'm new to the forum, been watching on and off for a while now and this thread is one of the most useful to me so far since right now I'm looking at buying some new rims and tires... still trying to figure out which ones I want though.
Would like to give you a hand though I think your rear wheel specs might be off a bit... my local custom rim shop (very professional guys with a great setup) has a 15x7 47mm offset wheel listed as the stock diamond spoke wheel for 88 GT, unfortunately they don't have specs on the 15x6 front wheel though so I'm taking it with a grain of salt!
I can only assume that the GT setup is the same as my 88 Formula and last week while measuring my 15x7 rear wheels they were about 1" from the strut and were closer in line with the face of the front wheels than the 15x7 30mm's on your diagram... the 15x7 47mm does match what I've measured on my car better, and looks about the same on your diagram do you think that 47's might be the correct spec for the rear wheels?

so, according to this, I should be able to fit 7x17 ET35 wheels, but not 7.5x18 ET35. Still, I'm worried that I will receive a set of wheels on friday and find that they stick outside the fender when it's time to get the car running...

Does anyone know if it would be ok to put 15x7 with 35mm offset on the front and rear of an 88? I assume it would work but I know the 88s came with the 15x6 in front.
