Today I tried to replace the alternator on the Indy but couldn't get the bottom bolt out. Stupid thing is seized in there. I soaked it with PB Blaster and will try again tomorrow after work. Oh, I managed to damage a brake line so I need to replace that now too.
That increases the price a bit but can be done if you have some cash available.

On a side note. What did I do to my Fiero today? I drove it. And it felt good. And I will do the same again tomorrow. And it will feel good again. It has been a long time since I have been able to do that three days in a row...I could get used to this.
i put in a rodney dickman 200-210 fan switch in and the car runs good. i took it for a ride and it never got to hot or the fan never came on. plus the idle is back to normal. i think i had the wrong temp. fan switch in. it is cooler in fl. now.
Working on my first 4 cyl Fiero. 87 I picked up from a guy. Paid to much since I had to replace some floor pan. Oh well.
Hate where the oil filter is located. Makes a mess of the engine. Picked up relocation kit. Mounting behind the right rear wheel by the bumper. Decided would be nice to be able to drop the filter down when changing to make it extra easy..
1. spin on.
2. Monuts to the bracket.
3. Working side of bracket.
4. Receiver.

Finally got a wiring gremlin solved. Dash lights are a good thing. Re-assembled the interior and did a nice detailing on the insides. This was on my '86 next up on my '85 sail panels replaced, headliner and sunvisors replaced and a nice interior cleaning for it as well.
safety training last friday with my Indy (driven by germangt) and my 1988 GT:
As a former Audi owner and German language student I know about the German philosophy of driving (they are serious about it). Can you tell me more about this safety training? It looks like a great experience for learning to handle a vehicle in poor conditions.
Is this a private enterprise or a government sponsored program to make the streets safer? Is there a cost?

I installed the ep-381 fuel pump, sending unit, fuel filter, and seafoamed it. Only to find that my problem was, one of my plug wires cracked so replaced that too.
I let my nephew drive my car around my yard. He has never driven a standard before so it was kinda funny. However it did scare me that he would tear up my trans.
Then I pulled out the dash from my parts car to get ready to install it into my driver. I ran out of day light. :-/
Finished the install on my Pioneer AVIC-X930BT NAV system with XM radio. Had the cutting, wiring, and fitting done earlier this week. This weekend was the finishing touches as well as the installing LED dome lights. I ordered the LED courtesy lights, but as bright as just two of the dome lights are....why bother???
Hmm, well first I spilled some coffee in it, then got out at a light to see if any exteriror lights were working besides the headlights (by working I mean after about five min. of turning the round black knob I can shut the hood get in the car and flick them on, yay!). The dash and radio lights decided to not turn on anymore apparently. But I found out my tail lights wont work and my right rear turn signal has no pulse to it, just turns on, and according to random guy driving behind me the brake lights work still
wow. after doing some reading I think I pale in comparison but I'll still contribute! Today I removed my old thermostat housing, removed the old gasket from the lower plenum and the housing itself. Cleaned both to a nice smooth finish, prepped the area and replaced the gasket. Silicone'd it for good measure. Installed one gas strut and having some troubles with the drivers side. Will figure it out. Next I removed my Y section of exhaust pipe and cleaned that out a bit considering that is a weak spot in the flow of exhaust (That reminds me I still have to tighten the bolts on the downpipe). putting it back into place I knocked my tranny and took a chunk off of the shifter assembly. Hoping tomorrow I can fix it. Suggestions? (I was going to JB weld it. ALOT). Next I installed a new pioneer 4 way stereo to compliment my new 6x9's in the dash and my 12' infinity 1000W sub. Stereo was working and then I installed it into the dash and now it won't turn on. Have to take it apart again and check the wiring (Fiero's. My wiring is good.). Still shorting out on my front park lights. Pulled the switch and their still on so that tells me it's a short somewhere.. great. How come it couldn't be as easy as the switch?! Fieros.. You can't help but love them
I recovered the seats in the Indy. It now has factory seats back in it. I have a bunch of parts (sunroof seals, good center console skeleton, seat belt receptacles) to install on the Indy this weekend sometime. I also have parts I need to put on the 88 (front FieroStore lowering springs, rodney dickman lowering ball joints, plugs, plug wires and ignition module). Tired of the cut springs in the front of the 88. Here's a picture of the recovered seats in the Indy:
cruised all day yesterday with a group of fieros and today i took it for the last drive of the year to go get some stabil for it and now its tucked away in the garage until spring time. i have a few winter projects for it to pass time until i can drive it again but its gonna be a long winter.
