Oh baby, I can't WAIT to get that all stainless dual exhaust and muffler.. congrats my friend, that is definitely my next "big spend" somewhere down the line. Tax return next year maybe?
my old exhaust had leaks and rust all over it so i didnt have much of a choice on getting a new exhaust but i decided to go with the high performance stainless steel exhaust instead of another stock exhaust. im hoping to get a high performance cross over pipe and headers next but ill wait to do the headers until i have to pull the motor. they should be a lot easier to remove that way.
Finally got my car lowered and did some nice cleanup on the wheelwells and suspension components while I was in there....Stiill lots of bodywork to do and then paint comes!!! peace
I locked the keys in the engine bay when I was changing out the temp sending unit! Duh lol So I had to troubleshoot my hatch release that was not working and finally got the switch jumpered out and my keys out. Found out the switch was broke on the inside so gorilla glue to the rescue again! My gauge is still not working but I know I am not overheating so its all good. Still have to figure out what is wrong.
The lower trans cooler line popped a leak yesterday so it sits in my dad's yard waiting for a chance to get repaired. Driving the Aurora for the rest of the week and working 14 hour days. =[
Not "my" Fiero, and not totally a Fiero,...well it's actually a 1986 Fiero chassis and 2.8 V6 with 4 spd. manual underneath. Just wrapped up working on it after 5 days for another PFF member. Lets just say I did a LOT of work on this car and cut the owner a VERY huge break on the price. (I'm either generous as all get out, or stupid as all hell, I'm not real sure right now...)
Drove her 400 miles found trip just to get screwed by the judge at traffic court. Lame. On the bright side the car is running like a champ and showed no signs of issue with the 100 degree heat. The Driver on the other hand with no AC not so good...
Finally installed my Rodney Dickman tach filter, but no dice. Must be a bad gauge. Also working on burping the air from the coolant system... probably why the motor has been running too hot lately.
The PO of my Formula was backing the car out of his garage and hooked the drivers mirror on the center post. Whoever "fixed" it did a pretty sorry job of it. The mounting studs were nearly pulled out of the mirror and the holes were oblonged. I have been putting up with a "wobbly" drivers mirror for a few months now and this morning on the way to work, one of the studs fell out. This afternoon, I tore the door apart to repair it. It's a good thing I have several spare mirrors and pieces - parts. Took about an hour but it's all good now.
Tear it apart:
Egg shaped - semi stripped mount holes - one stud is a SAE 1/4" cut off bolt!
Thank goodness for spare parts:
Replacement back on:
Some new door panel clips - they just don't make these plastic clips like they use to:
All Done:

Set the timing, installed new windshield molding, put headlight bumpers in, tightened the hood, cleaned the interior, and most importantly, took it for a drive.

Randy what types of work did you have to perform on the car ?
Changed brake pads. Discovered I've got a CV joint leaking... can't afford it right now though. Gonna buy a speedy boot to hold it over probably. Got a bad strut too.... *sigh* :P
My steering started acting funny. The steering wheel would occasionally "stick", and I'd have to yank on it to break it loose. Not very safe!
So today, I pulled out the steering rack to see what's going on. I found that water was getting into the steering rack, causing the rack to rust inside. The rust particles got into the pinion bearing, and were causing it to bind up. After a thorough cleaning and re-greasing of the whole steering rack assembly, it seems to be working smoothly now. I'll find out for sure when I re-install it in the Fiero tomorrow.
Just tinkered a little tonight. Messed with the temp gauge again and had no luck so I suppose I will be pulling it tomorrow to see if the needle has jumped on it from pegging out after key on. But, I did take the time to snap a couple of more pics of it. She is getting so close to hitting the road! LOL
Took it to the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix today and will again tomorrow. A couple thousand cars displayed on the golf course at Schenley Park. They have the park divided into sections by country, a vendor village and the real draw, about 9 classes of vintage racing on city streets. Amazing cars of all kinds displayed and remarkable cars racing. If you couldn't make it to Frazee, MN this weekend, then this is the place to be.

Today I replaced my front speakers with a 5 1/4" midrange and tweeter component set and did the Tang-Band subwoofer upgrade, sounds great, no more boomy bass!
Also, got the car ready for a car show tomorrow morning.
Nolan
Edit to add that I also bought some more stuff...

Today / in the last 24 hours: New tires installed and alignment done! Mechanic said it was the worst, biggest pain in the ass alignment job he's ever had to do; but I finally have a steering wheel that is straight when the car is going straight, and can once again corner like on rails!
Meg's car got some Clutch work done by Wayne's World of Fieros in Allentown. HUGE improvement. Found a bent clutch pedal, and some alarm wiring that was interfering with the shifter itself. This week will see a new battery and PA state inspection. Keeping some fingers crossed for an easy time of that!
1. brake upgrade (grand am) 2. suspension replacement front and rear 3. alignment 4. rear bearing 5. changed the original plugs from 87. 6. changed original wires from 87 7. changed original distributor cap and rotor 8. changed distributor 9. decreased engine 10. found out the car never had the rear manifold recall.
