Many modern cars today have plenty of options for those who want to modernize the Fiero exterior appearance. Some have used GM, Ferrari, Lamborghini, and even the 350Z mirrors. What types are you planning on using? What types of add-on have you used (heater, deflectors)? Please post them here.
Pontiac Solstice- sorry no pics at this time. Pulled them off to stengthen the mounts as one was broken off. May switch to the new Mitsubishi Eclipse mirrors, they are just a bit bigger and use the same mount set-up.
I'm going with a simple yet nice look. Right now, they are the stock plastic but they will be filled, sanded, and cleaned up and painted when I am done.
They have blue tinted lenses
And of course, my tweak to them since I am doing a car with quick release door skins, they had to be quick release also. The quick release pins are hidden under the rubber boot.
Nice looking mirror Jon. Do you know anything about which models might have a dimming feature too - i think some of the corvette side mirrors were dimming but I have no specifics ....
I have been looking at alot of cars for this lately (im a long-haul truck driver) I noticed that the mazda miata 90s and one of the newer honda coupes look like they would work very well. or atleast be an easy option

I don't know of any door mounted mirrors with dimming. I'm sure there must be some out there, including the late model Corvette, but I don't know for sure.

i will let him spill the beans when it is ready.
BTW it looks good !
If it's a FL widebody I just hope they look better than the first ones, but they say the second time is a charm. It's a shame although hideous I hear they cost him a small fortune.
I'm trying to work with a company to get replacement glass for the Fiero with embedded LED turn signals (not the cheap stick on crap either). These would be just like the OEM stuff you see out now. Costs should be under $150/pr if all goes well, but they are resistant to tool up for an older vehicle.
Got any pics from a little further away? Kind of put things in perspective. Thanks
Not sure I understand the quarter window question...from that angle in the first pic they are reflecting a lot of light, but they are ordinary tinted quarter windows.

I'm kind of watching this thread cuz I want to do some different mirrors. jscott how do those aurora's compare size wise to the vettes? Sorry curly not trying to steal your thread buddy just trying to bring out all the good info so you can make an informed decision
Since the door skins are not fiberglass, but the IRM(?) material, what is used to close up the hole if piller-mounting them or modifying the hole in the skin? I am assuming the window clears the Bonneville mirror pictured above.

The door skins are reinforced reaction injection molded (RRIM) urethane, or in other words stiff rubber. You can fiberglass on to it and it will hold up to normal everyday wear and tear.
The mirrors are from a 96 Oldsmobile Aurora, and yes the window clears the mirror.
...thanks for the link - now you just need to update the interior (BTW, I still hate you).
You know the dash and interior won't stay stock for long. I just needed to put a stock interior in it to make it presentable until I can have time to put in the custom interior. You would think with all the plug and play firebird harnesses I've built I would have kept one for myself...nope. But it's coming as soon as I get that HEI thing figured out
LOL, yup, but its hard to find door mounted mirrors, gotta get em where you can, Spent a day at U pull n pay and didnt find anything door mounted that looke decent !
