Is anyone actually collecting all of this data? Is there a database or website somewhere? It seems like this whole thread is just one post after another of '88 VINs that pop up on ebay or in a junkyard, yet it doesn't seem like anyone is actually doing anything with this data?
Yes... John is collecting this data. He is quite busy with work and his family, and doesn't have a lot of time to pop in and check. But he does appreciate everyone's information.

Someday it may all be important, but even if it isn't (say, because the actual production build sheets for each car were saved somewhere), at least we're building a database on cars that have been scrapped or parted out. Along the way, I've meet many wonderful people who have helped me out tremendously, and to one and all, I offer my Heart Felt Thanks!
For those who might have an 88, know someone who does, or might see one in a junkyard, I'd appreciate any help you can give me in documenting the cars. Basically, I collect info on factory color options (Exterior, Interior, and Rims (GTs and Formulas (I know, Formulas should all have black rims from the factory, but do they?)), the roof type and the tranny type. Any other info is also welcome, but even if all you have is a vin number and the fact that the car is intact, that's a good starting point for the future. Any info is better than having a blank record for a car. For those that might have the center console removed, there is a sticker on the ALDL connector (unless the glue has let loose!) which has a date code and shift number on it. I also collect this info when possible, but do not believe it's tied to car production weeks anymore. Still, having the info is better than not, and maybe someday we'll be able to use it to our advantage. ... Thanks to all for reading this and your continued help.

Thank You Radar for responding for me. I do appreciate your speaking up for me because as you said, there is alot more to life than cars right now. www.johnwillhoff.smugmug.com for those interested in what's become my main time stealer outside of work and family.
I do indeed check in here and record the info, so thanks to all for continuing to add data. I haven't decided yet the best way to share data, but I will at some point. Thanks to all who help with the collection of data, there are far too many to list them all but Angellightning and Gall757 are doing alot and I appreciate it.
Keep those wheels turning, hope y'all are enjoying your cars.

I like how when you navigate to a year, they list each one that they have collected data on and then when you select the link it opens up that data on the specific car w/ RPO codes and stuff. Owner info and all the other meta data that has been collected.
could be done like this for each VIN or something.
