No website was ever created. I'm sure that John Willhoff had the best of intentions when he started collecting this data back in 1999, but it's been 18 years now. Let's be realistic... this data is going nowhere.

I know John Willhoff (88 database guy) I had helped him for many, many, many did I say many years. He gave me a print out of what he had back in 2004, I have continued to add to my print out for 13 years now and counting. I think a on-line registry for all 88's would be great "BUT" ONE IMPORTANT THING, It should be able to be viewed for free by all, "BUT" only one person should be able to add the data in, (one person would be in charge of this by sending their data on a 88 to that persons email address) )reason I belonged to a different on-line data base for a certain car model, It started out great the data started pouring in as everyone contributed and were able to add them, themselves, "BUT" then trolls started attacking it by putting in wrong data (b#llsh#t) and thought it was funny, but all it did was hurt the car community that started it, because they ended up shutting it down because so much data was faked or incorrect, the data base was longer accurate and had to start it all over again, with one person in charge to add the data. That data base has never recovered from that!!!! If this can be done I have no problem giving my data over, which is about 1 inch thick full of information with thousands of 1988 vin# with information on them. My suggestion, to make it work fast, you should list the last 6 digits of the vin starting at 00001 to 26402, then when the person comes across information on 88 send email to the operator of the page, they add it like plug and play (the vin digit is already listed just need to add (ext color, interior color, auto or stick and so one) I would also recommend you abbrevate all the options for each car (just a example Don't spell out sunroof, or plain roof or T top, just s-roof, p-roof t-roof) something like that. Just my 2 cents...

If the database is online, use checkboxes, rather than text fields, for the options. I don't have an issue with multiple people adding data, but each should have their own logon to do so, and the logon should be tracked for each change. Also, what happens to the database/site if you go wherever the original guy went?
I really like your idea about check boxes, and as far as anyone being able to log in and but be able to track anyone entering the data for accountibility, I might be ok with, but what happen to the other car database I was involved with (NOT FIEROS), trolls started changing exterior colors and mostly engines sizes. Now for a fiero the engine thing isnt a issue but exterior, interior color and options would be. Just my 2 cents.
You could only grant access for a few people. Every change they made should be logged. If there is an issue, lock their account. Changes could then easily be deleted. Trolls couldn't access. Think of it like a forum. There are only a few admins. Users wouldn't have to log in, but they could only search.
Hey guys, thanks for advice here... it's appreciated. I wound up getting a bit behind this week so it's taking a little longer than I'd hoped.
The new site will be 88fiero.com, Anyone that wants to be a mod will get an email address xxx@88fiero.com (if they want it)
I do like the idea of opening it up to all years - lets just see how this one works first. If you guys like it - we can rebrand it and expand.
Full disclosure: If this begins to pick up web traffic in the Fiero community, I'll look to incorporate some non-intrusive advertising to offset the cost and time investment I make to build this out.
Found another 88 in my local Pick N Pull today. Talbot Yellow Formula w/ T-Tops.

1G2PE11R4JP206440 is in a junkyard in Oregon; red 4-cyl. with sunroof. That's all I really know about it. It doesn't show here when I search for that VIN.
Currently non-op in Louisville, KY, bought out of LaGrange. Does not run or drive, needs extensive work, but mostly stock. Black with gray interior, gold wheels, not sure if they are original, probably not, had some Enkei's on it. 160006 miles. Currently looking for some parts to get it back on the road.
