This topic is very confusing. In 2016, I had posted an 88 Fiero GT that I used to own. I don't see it listed any more.
Also saw a link for 88fiero.com, but it doesn't come up at all.
Originally, I thought this was to see how many 88 Fiero's were still owned, driven, and SURVIVED. Many of the posts on here are showing Fiero's that are stripped in junk yards, and ready to be crushed. What purpose does that serve? What is the final goal of all this data?
I purchased another 88 recently, and I'm not sure what good it would do to list it here.
Any updates from 88databaseguy, or someone who has taken this over? Just wondering.
88databaseguy was attempting to document every 88 produced. He was looking for options, colors, production dates, etc., etc. He was hoping to keep up with product changes (options availability or cancellations, odd combinations, color changes, etc., etc.) So all 88s are important to this endeavor.
I don't understand why the car that you posted no longer appears. Are you sure it was this thread? There have been several.

It lends closure. The car in the junkyard today might already appear on the list as a driveable car a decade ago but since its now doomed to be crushed, the "driveable" record from a decade ago is no longer accurate and can be updated.
On that note, 1G2PE11R2JP201687 and 1G2PE11R3JP217316 are in a Kansas City junkyard.... Both white 4-cylinders.

Hello From the 88 Database Guy. I want to thank everyone who's sent me data and posted info here. The database is still ongoing, and as Raydar said it is an attempt to document many aspects of the 88 production run. I will never get them all, but I decided long ago that gathering as much data as possible was a worthy pursuit. Right now I've got partial or complete info on a little over 6000 cars. I saw the two cars css posted on Row52 and he's absolutely right, one of these two cars was new and one was from a long time ago and I sure hated to change that car's entry to "dead". I gather info from the online auctions, sales sites including eBay, craigslist, kijiji, bringatrailer, and now even Facebook. If you've seen a car there chances are high that i've seen it too. Not to say I don't appreciate people posting the info on this thread, but for new people who are sending me info I would prefer you send me the info at john.willhoff@gmail.com so I can keep the records organized better. It's gotten to the point that with 6000+ cars, and multiple entries for many of them, I've got what I believe are solid statistics on the production run and I'll post some of those statistics soon.
A word about the value of all this. I have no illusions that whatever data I ultimately collect will be of much use to anyone. I simply intend to collect what I can with the time and resources I have available, because I think someone should be doing it. In talking to Robert Casey, the author of the great book "ALL 1984-1988 Pontiac Fiero Colors Codes & Quantities", we know that at one time all this production information was available. In fact, it may STILL exist but it's not known who has it or that it ever will be made public. What is not known by anyone is how many are gone already, and perhaps that's one of the most important things in this whole effort, to document them as they fade away. Not that I think the Fiero will ever become a super high dollar collectable car, even for the most rare ones, but documenting the survivors and destroyed cars is something I will continue to pursue.
If you would like to add your car, please send me the VIN, factory colors and options (sunroof, hardtop, 5spd, auto, wheel color, leather or lumbar seat, ttop!) to my email above and I'll add your car or update the entry for the car if I've already got it. I don't need your name or info in the database, I like to add it when it's available but if you don't want that info there I absolutely will not put it in there. This is a car database and not a owner database.
Thanks to Cliff for the wonderful forum and to everyone who's contributed over the years. With the new picture uploading feature (Awesome Cliff!) I will upload what may be one of the coolest things to come from collecting the car info so far. See below for a copy of the production color run info for the 1988 cars.
Pick-n-Pull of Fresno CA is showing 1G2PE11R6JP214619 in their yard; four-cylinder base model although someone has given it a vented hood and aero nose and lower rockers. And an orange paint job! I've been to this junkyard in the past and cars come and go quickly.

yep, just like Raydar posted this thread was to inform 88 Database Guy about one I found in the Junk Yard. Never thought it would turn into this, but glad that its worked out.
As I told css, i had that car, JP214619 from an ebay add which showed it has a V-8 of some sort, you guys out there in Fresno might want to check it out. If you do, please snap a shot of the SPID label and post that too. it's also listed on row52 but as usual only one photo, but you can see the nice big hood vent on it though.
skywurz, thats a new car to me, can you give me all the details please?

Well what I had here is just a confusing mess. It was a Red 5spd gt grey interior. it had been painted... But the evidence I have shows that it was in some sort of front end collision in the early 90s that caused A pilar damage. (Deer, moose, cow) it then assumed the identity of the 87 that was glued on to fill in the gaps. The 87 was also wrecked around the same time in the 90s. The roof at mid B pillar was cut and rewelded on. This was then cut at the near front firewall and welded on. This included the Vin tag location. Most cuts and welds were along factory joints. The car only had 1 of the mini vin tags left and it was on the passenger door. I didn't want to just assume that the 88 door vin was the original vin until i found it on each rear shock.
I was most likely wrong about it being in Fresno.... First listing I saw on the page was a black 86 in Fresno and that was probably what got me excited since I hadn't seen one listed there in a real long time.
88 Guy.... Thanks for the PM but I'll have to leave it for the California guys to check it out in person. I'm in Illinois.

Here's the thing about that 86 in Fresno, it looks like a T-top.
1G2PG1198JP202997 is a white GT listed on Ebay, at a dealer in Pennsylvania. 5-speed, sunroof.... Front hood has an American flag airbrushed on, and the whole interior of the car has been re-done in red-and-white. Lots of red powdercoating and red wire loom under the front and rear hoods; pretty much anything that could be removed or unscrewed easily.
I can't find the thread right now, but there was recent discussion of stock 88 Fieros with staggered 14" Hi-Tech wheels. Some PFFers showed us their supposedly stock 88s, and they had 14" staggered wheels.
The introduction of Sunbird wheels towards the end of Fiero production (a running change) would have helped stretch low stock of the Fiero-specific Hi-Tech wheels. This would have avoided the risk of ordering a batch of Fiero-specific Hi-Tech wheels near the end of Fiero production, and then not having any Fieros on which to install said wheels.
Are the Sunbird wheels different? I'm pretty sure I've never looked at them up close side-by-side.
EDIT: I just saw the other thread. Seems the offset was different. Never would have imagined they'd make different wheels for two cars that otherwise share so much - same diameter, same bolt pattern etc.

I just purchased 88 GT 1G2PG1193JP218251 from California. I don't know if the previous owner has sent you the information, so I hope this is helpful. It is white, 5 sp, sun roof, Beechwood leather, rear defrost and black wheels. I am restoring the car in my retirement. Take care, Kevin
Found one in J/Y VIN: 102PG1190 JP200421 Model: GT 2.8 auto Grey interior Black (not sure it’s original color) exterior Non sunroof Wing Non cruise control Black honey comb wheels
I have a base black ‘88 coupe. 40,000 original km’s cleanest ‘88 I could find for $3,000 CDN it’s been converted from 2.5 auto with no tilt or A/C. My old ‘88 Formula was killed by a Forza rookie.
1G2PE11R8JP224729 is in a Chicago-area junkyard, a Medium Red 4-cylinder automatic hardtop, gray interior. A longtime Indiana car, it spent more than a decade deteriorating in the parking lot of a run-down garage-towing-U-Haul place in Gary. In real rough shape.
1G2PE119XJP219290 is a teal greenish-blue Formula at the Rochester NY Co-Part auction yard. It's a 5-speed sunroof model with V6 and gray interior and has the correct Formula decals on it despite being (apparently) a repaint.
I'd sure like to have it for a 5-speed swap! Just 88K miles.
i bought a 1988 out of a nc junk yard for parts..its reddish with a 2.5 automatic.grey interior.manual windows manual locks has ac no cruse control.no sun roof.14 aluminum wheels.vin 1G2PE11R8JP211995
I forgot to mention this one from earlier in the summer: 1G2PE1197JP221868 is in an Indiana junkyard. Black automatic Formula, with sunroof. It has been repainted flat black but I think black was the original color.
Check out the Geo Metro convertible next to it!

I recently bought 1G2PG1195JP200754, which is a red '88 Fiero GT with a grey interior. It's got 197K miles. Engine and trans were rebuilt about 50k miles ago. I'm getting it back on the road after 5 years non-operational in the san francisco area. It's a 5-speed. Not sure what options were available but it seems reasonably nicely appointed.
