Dan you are paying $250 for the center caps. Any stock 86/87 GT 15X7 crosslace wheels is the same. You can probably have some Mera vinyl decals made for a stock set of Fiero center caps very reasonably, and find a set crosslace wheels for much less. Make sure these are original Mera center caps if you are going to pay that much for them. They shoud be in very good condition as well.
i feel ya, bro.....remember these?
i feel that these are the real deal. the clear background is the OEM i think, Rodneys replacements are a foil/silver, shinny backing.
if this is indeed true, i got $25 a piece for the centers, you bet and $100 for the set of Fiero wheels....then a $50, premium should they be actual wheels off a Mera.....from Florida.....like my Mera.....from a 1987.....(you see where i am going with this?) i feel that these could be my old Mera rims sold to this Bill guy from Heath my PO....long shot i know, but i dream out loud all the time
thanks for the advice, too.....now go get a 0-60 time hahahaaaa......
d
*EDIT*
HA!!!! and with out counting we did it boys our 2nd milestone.....100 pages. good show, mates!! its been a blast, so far.
we almost got 60,000 views and just under 4000 posts. i am so glad to have been a part of this awesome archive.

Rick you get a 0-60 mph time, yet?? i would like to know.....please.
i feel for the money the 3.4L FireBird engine (gotta stay with Pontiac) is a option for me with a fat turbo......
the 3800 turbos are monsters and i see me buying a Fiero with that instead of crashing Me Mera
but a 3.4 in Mera X retains the looks as you mentioned and gives the performance and oppoturnities to upgrade as i choose.
later d
Dan, I have not run mine to get an exact time. I can tell you it is noticeably faster.
We are finishing up a 3.4 PR auto swap on an 88 Formula. The 0-60 time on this car would probably be closer to what you would get as it is an automatic, instead of a 5-speed like mine. The engine has a performance cam, headers, and one of the original Borla exhaust systems made for the V6 Fiero. It is attached to the stock T125 auto with a shift kit. When it is running I will give you my "seat of the pants" impression of it.
At close to 4000 feet altitude, a wild guess would be about 7 seconds 0-60 for my car, without abusing the clutch.
Dan the wheels look nice. As long as none of them are bent, or have excessive curb rash, I would pick them up.
Ok everybody....Pay up! Just as I predicted Dan is at the top of page 100!!!
[This message has been edited by Rick 88 (edited 08-10-2011).]
well even at 10 sec.....its better than my best at 12.3 something
i need a 9-10 sec. engine in Mera X! that would be good enough, because i love what i got, currently, by the 'feel". but the numbers i cant say out loud in public. its too shameful. i have not gotten into it with off the line racing much, so i do not have a good view of a what i am in relation to newer cars. but the top end on the highway after 70, sucks. taught to me by a MiniCopper.....damn poodle in the passengers seat was laughing at us, even......gurrrrrrr! my cat, Takkun would have eaten that curly cued little rat dog.....whoops sorry
i may have 120 of the og 140 hp cuz its still steps, but to have that full 160hp, proported to be on a "New" er 3.4L is the ticket for me.

Congrats, Dan, you deserve the "notoriety." We should, however, take a moment to mention Tom, who started it all. Actually, a big "good show" to everyone who's contributed, especially you guys who have done all the restores and swaps, and have the knowledge base.

i miss Tom, wish he had more time..... he was the only other to post pictures of his Mera unlike some of you tight shuttered owners. some of you, need to show off a little more of your babies.....Julian is not scared. its time to let the Mera shine
OK Dan, I stuck my cam up inside my drivers wheel well at snapped this pic..... any comments of what I'm looking at? I feel like a perv on upskirt-dot-com sticking the cam up there.... LOL
You are correct. Paul has painted two of my Meras and I am quite satisfied with his excellent work.

The Mera center caps shown in the pictures are identical with my 1988 Mera lace wheel set. I believe that this confirms originality since Rodney's vinyl stickers were different and has a solid background color (silver, black, or gold).

very bottom of this pic..... in-panel, molded air box that is used as fresh air intake to the air cleaner canister.
it seems that you have a diffferent gasket than i do humm
its cool that CC used the door scoop for this function.
[This message has been edited by batousai666 (edited 08-11-2011).]
Dan can you post a picture of your gasket so we can see the difference? Maybe it is an 87-88 thing......
you bet
Mera #6001....
maybe its a Fiero SE thing
the rubber is close to Julians...but his looks "stacked" and that sticky black stuff between the panel and the rubber on X and missing on the Prototype looks like the same stuff i have on my alternator fan in the trunk, behind the carpet.
is that fan also limited to the early Fiero....I.E.....not the 1988's??

I have personally tried several different engines in Fieros or Meras. My own collection has a 3.4 pushrod with a turbo, a mostly stock 3800 SC Series II, a modified 3800 SC Series III, and a 383 that is now in progress and should be completed in a month or so. I have also driven a 4.9 V8 car as well as the stock 2.8. Since I have not driven the 383 yet, I have no real comment on that except that it may scare me when I do. It is supposed to be dynoed at around 440 HP. Of the engines that I have driven, I like the modified 3800 SC Series III the best (so far). This is because of HP available as well as the exhaust note. The other cars are nice and I would not change them since I like to periodically drive different performance vehicles.

The 0-60 time for the turbo 3.4 is supposed to be around 5.2 to 5.3 seconds. As soon as I repair my turbo, I will see what my time is with a 5 speed. BTW, I now have a Design one, Stage II turbo setup for sale if anyone wants to improve performance on the stock or a 3.4 engine.

Nelson, will your turbo setup work on a 2.8? If so, what's the benefit, and what's the down side?
The turbo setup will work on a 2.8 and several people have successfully run them. The down side is that the oiling on the 2.8 is not as good as a pushrod 3.4 (IMHO) and you may not want to run the boost as high on a 2.8 as you can a 3.4. That being said, this turbo setup came off an 87 Mera with a 2.8 liter engine and successfully ran a number of miles. Engine HP will go up with the boost level but I would not run much over 10 psi on either of these two engines.

Nelson, at 10 PSI boost don't you have a problem with detonation without an intercooler? Are you running water/alcohol injection? Will it live on pump premium (91 octane)?
Want to share something with you all, I was given a bag of waxs by a friend cleaning out his garage, in this bag was a Turtle Wax product called BLACK CHROME cleaner/sealant. I used it on my dull & dingy mirrors, bumpers and even under the rear bumper and the side vents. They look like new, and its not greasy or glossy, just a nice satin black. The date on the TM is 1999, so I don't know if its still out there, but if it is...pick it up.

Rick,
I run premium 91/93 octane in all my cars and the 3.4 pushrod engine with turbo is run at 6-7 pounds boost with no intercooler or alcohol injection. That is a different turbo than the one I have for sale (Design 1, Stage 2) that is designed for up to 10 pounds of boost. So far there have been no issues with the engine and I hope that it stays that way. The Design One system was run successfully for quite a few miles on an 87 Mera with the 2.8 engine but I am going with a 3800 SC Series II as a replacement so I no longer need the turbo setup.

Your suspicions are correct, it's out of production. I have heard that Turtle Wax Black Box is the replacement product. It's a three-step process so it's a little harder to use, but good reports.
Dan you up for a ride East? I'll have my Mera in a car show in Dearborn. On Rotunda just west of Oakwood Drive. It's right between Building 1 and Building 3 of the Ford Product Development Center. It will be parked til 3:30pm. Don't forget this weekends Woodward Dream Cruize.!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Dream Cruise.....boy I'd like to see that in person one time. Anyway, I am driving the Mera up to Gunnison with two other Fiero's this weekend for the show there. I understand the will have the largest number of Fiero's in attendence ever. This is the first long trip for the Mera, so wish me luck!!
