let me see if I remember my facts..... feel free to Google them. Again this may be wrong but if it's right feel free to put them in your useless book of knowledge for Jeopardy.
When motor racing started way back, each country had a colour. Red was Italy, Green was UK, etc.... Maserati was the Italian car to beat UNTIL Ferrari came on the circuit. Anyways Ferrari soon became known for it's victories and over the year they all saw Ferrari as red. That is until they tried to OWN the rights to the colour. That is when crap hit the fan..... so Ferrari decided to make a certain colour of red their trademark.... not the original red that the Italians used. Look closely at the F1 cars and you will see the deep red is different than the red cars you saw years ago in Lemans. This is called Ferrari red and only goes back 20 years or so.
BUT before Ferrari came on the circuit their colour was yellow after the town of Modena. (way back) Thus the yellow background on the "cavallino rampante" black horse.
Plus everyone know yellow looks better than red. But not on the wheels of a green car!!!!!!!!! LOL
I am trying to spur the gray cells, and I do remember reading a friends Ferrari history book that stated that Fiat was the hot car back in the 1900's and that a very young Enzo Ferrari was their top driver, winning numerous races for them? Maybe that's where the whole Red Thing started??
I do believe some colors just look bad on some cars, like say a Red Rolls-Royce, or.................

Maybe if that Lotus was British Racing Green, instead of John Deere green..... I like yellow cars, but not yellow wheels. The exception to that would be the 98 Vette Pace car in purple and yellow Richard mentioned. It had yellow stripes, and the seats had yellow inserts. Much better color integration than on the Lotus.
My last 88 GT was one of the 241 yellow one's made. Years ago I had a 75 Monza 2X2 in Daytona yellow, and my current 68 el camino is Buttenut yellow. I would not have had a problem if my Mera was yellow, but I like the red too. As far as a John Deere green Mera..........

Rick,
If I can get a good color sample, my last 88 Mera will likely end up British Racing Green so you may have a chance to see how this looks with a Beechwood interior.
Wayne..... Austim Martin (not open top)...... BRG looks awsome. It's my second favourite colour ...just like all the colours BUT yellow are tied for my second best....ahhahah
First...IF a baby is blue, there is something wrong-not a good thing. Second...The only thing that should be Baby Blue are Baby Boys Blankets. Third...The right Corvette color would be Torque Blue.
XKE.... British racing green with chrome wire wheels and saddle leather! Or the Austin Powers Jag, Shagalicious Baby! Silver Spur...... Duhh....Silver of course! 67 Vette convertible Arrest Me Red with a white painted stinger 427 hood, white top and tuxedo interior (white seats and doorpanels). 69 MGB Same British racing green combo as the XKE. 88 Fiero GT I'd have to go with factory yellow since that is the one I owned for 11 years, and tried to buy for almost that long. 59 Caddy if its a coupe, gotta be 50's Pink, convertible, lipstick red, white top and white interior with wide white walls. 69 Camaro too may good choices but my favorite is the factory bright metallic green with white "Motion Performance" stripes Those car looked Bad Azz! 98 Meredes S-Body Diamond White, low profile 18's or 19's with staggered HRE high polished wheels, and blacked out windows. 79 450 SL Black on Black (to hide those awful crash bumpers) with chrome factory wheels.
As for the yellow wheels, I can even handle them on a red car (like a racing stratos with all the stripes) just not the John Deer Green combo. Makes me feel like I need to plow the north 40.

Correction, Platinum Silver......now where is that Gray Poupon?

My bad on the Vette colour. I was thinking along the line of a 1960 Vette, The 67 would be red.
Dan if you want to know who got the cover and you received your free issue of FieroFocus just look on the cover (quit drooling on the inside & close it),,,,, what do you see? So Mera X made the magazine?
I don't get it.... did they send you last months issue? which of your pics made the magazine? I won't see the magazine here till October by the way our international mail travels.

Got my blown speaker sorted in me MERA...she is back to fully operational! I actually noticed what I think is another MERA difference...the vents on the left and right hand sides, their surrounds are interior colored (beechwood for mine) while the vents that swivel are actually black. None of my Fieros are like this.
Do not feel bad about this since you have a lot of company. Based on my recent e-mail, at least one of my Meras made the September/October issue, but I have no Idea which one. I also did not submit a photo that was specifically designed as a cover shot so I am not surprised by the result.

Here's another mod I did a while back, and actually, this can be done with any Fiero. This is to keep the trunk light off when the back lid is up for a period of time.
VERY carefully, I drilled a small hole in the trunk bracket. That's on the bracket, not that small indentation on the latch thingy itself ("latch" is probably not the right word, its that little "finger" that sticks out to activate/deactivate the light). To determine the right location, I pushed the "finger" into the bracket as I was drilling. The idea is to drill the hole through the bracket, but UNDER the "finger" when its pushed in.
After drilling, I had to use a little sandpaper in-between the bracket so the "finger" would not hang up.
So now, when I want the back lid open, I push the "finger" up with my thumb, like this:
And insert my homemade pin (made from a coat hanger) into the hole I drilled:
You can see from this angle how the pin keeps the "finger" up, thus de-activating the trunk light switch.
If you step away, it looks like this:
Easy and cheap mod...best kind!
Tom
I like your idea "REMOVE BEFORE FLIGHT" Here's mine back in 05 it does save the batt.. Didn't have to drill, mine stays on with the tension useing a Ring Connector still looking for one for the Corvette to hang on it for fun. My Dos Centavos, Ed

You mean to tell me no one seen the Mera four page spread? I won't spoil the surprise for everyone BUT DAN I will say the fish eye pic made it. I'm almost positive there is a rear pic of Mera X too.... I think I make out the "Pontiac" badge under the drivers tail lights...hard to see from the sharp angle but I see the lake in the background.....
Rodney used to sell a nice "Remove Before Flight" tag/pin and may still have some to prevent the rear trunk light from burning continuously when the deck lid is open.
Dan, I am not sure its a Mera. Front "lip" that runs up to wheel well? No, back up lights, at all? Hood prop rod? No Build Tag? Different Wheels? Rear Antenna? Wrong Mirrors?

Maybe its Mera XX
and wrong engine...... a 3.1 L engine bored to a 3.4L" no one said it was a "1985" Mera, anyway but, if its over 200 HP maybe it could be "Mera X's" doppleganger or body double look a like
i am waiting on word (this week) about a new job. so i got my eyes open for a faster Fiero and a faster 308 lookalike, could fit the bill. a kit, of a conversion, of a car, i do not want to crash my Mera X hahahaaaaa..........

Not a Mera, but it looks nice. I like the front bumper better than the stock Mera piece. I wonder if the bumper is still available?
All five of my Mera dashes that are in the basement at this time are interior colored surrounds with black vents. This includes GT vents in the bunch also.

back to the car to beat back in the day.... i thought it was Alfa that was the car to beat...since Enzo drove for Alfa before opening his carrozzeria to compete against them.....
