i have issues with the Mera sticker......it has a 9th digit as "G"?? i thought they were numbers in that slot if not a X http://www.nytmare.org/fiero/vin/fierovin.htmmight explain the rear lid as some rework | quote | Originally posted by Fieromaineac:

i have seen Rodney acknowledge Mera #8152 in Orlando, FL but that was 1996-1997. I also notice that "Mera #7039 has the newer Mera leather.....at 7039 thats cool limits the stitched ones the first 6 have d [This message has been edited by batousai666 (edited 10-06-2011).]

My deck lid corners were up, not as much, and I removed some "excess" weatherstrip that brought them down. Additionally, there is more curvature to the deck during the hot weather, which I suspect is caused by differential coefficient of expansion between the deck cover and the substructure--same with my hood corners. ------------------ Dick Mera #8046 1987 GT - T-boned (RIP) [This message has been edited by reholmes (edited 10-06-2011).]

https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/109535.htmlNot to get us off topic, but check out how this exhaust system sounds. This would sound great on any 2.8 or 3.4 PR V6 Mera. I don't even care if the performance does not improve. I just want this sound coming out of my Mera.

Can you show a close up pic of the "excess" weatherstrip you removed. I did not know the rear deck moved around like the front one......... These cars have some odd quirks.

This Taiwan exhaust system has been discussed earlier in the thread. I think one of the thread members was going over there and try to check it out--maybe Tom. I think they are getting that sound from 180 degree headers. Yeah, it sounds way cool! Rick, It needs a lot more than that! I expect that it may take me two more years to complete this project. It will be my last one for a while unless something really unique or that I cannot resist jumps up. Nelson | quote | Originally posted by Rick 88:

I don't think you can--not the Taiwan sound. You will have to route #2 and #5 to the opposite sides. Any comments from the exhaust experts? ------------------

Awsome job Nelson. Make sure you take the time to swap your amber & red lenses, it's just one of those things that I always notice.

Finally got my issue of Fiero Focus, WOOOOHOOOO I like the article. It's fresh, meaning that it's noy a cut and paste from Rodney's original article. As for contacting someone in Capac MI who use to work at CC, you'll never belive who I had conversation with.... One of the lead designers who worked for Bill Mitchel (VP of Design at GM back in the day) contacted me for a car show and told me the story of how designers use to take on side jobs. He saw my Mera and right away said that he knew the name of the designer who did the clay model for the MERA. I am waiting for him to call me back with his contact info (if he's still around). ------------------ Julian - MERA #8071 [This message has been edited by Julian (edited 10-08-2011).]

I liked your idea Holmes...... so I stold it I think with a little Photoshop and a red FieroFocus logo it would look cool. I think it was just you & I who submitted a cover shot. ------------------ Julian - MERA #8071

I know that I did not try to take a photo suitable for the cover. All I did was to submit some that I already had on file in the computer and a couple of them were in the magazine. Nelson [This message has been edited by hnthomps (edited 10-08-2011).]

Well, Julian's is truly superior--the background couldn't be more appropriate and very artistically composed. It would have had my vote--personal bias notwithstanding. I went to a car show in Care Free today--lots of hoity toities and their expensive European cars. A few nice rods and restored '50s cars. One old geezer had an absolutely perfect Fly Yellow 308 GTS. Really wanted to get some pics for Julian, but my camera was acting up--I did get one of the engine bay. Sorry 'bout that. After I got home I got the camera working--well, he's a local so I might see it again. [This message has been edited by reholmes (edited 10-09-2011).]

Read the fine print....... Owner Julian Lunardi, Photographer Mauro Chechi...... yes, Mauro took the best pic, not me. I too had a cheap camera, but my good friend Mauro has an eye for composition & a friging nice camera. This cost me a dinner for four. ------------------ Julian - MERA #8071

Rick, I had this stuff all along the top of the transom, which I removed . . . as well as a double layer on the underside edge of the lid, which remains: Sorry, I don't have a pic of the transom nor miss fit of the deck lid. I also have strips along the side edge of the rear compartment.

Richard,
My car does not have the transom strips. I will have to check the underside of the decklid. My stock truck weatherstripping keep my lid slightly elevated. I tried to install some reproduction trunk weatherstrip and it made the problems even worse. I know there are some additional adjustments I need to make for a better fitting decklid.

None of my Meras have the transom strip installed and I do not believe that it was a factory item. I tried installing some new weather stripping on the deck lid of a F308 rebody, but still had some trouble keeping the trunk dry in a heavy rainstorm. I think that with the right trunk gasket you should be OK wrt leaks in that area.

I think this stuff is for anti-rattle--can't believe it's for keeping rain out given the two huge holes in the rear deck. Of course weather strip here only keeps the sunshine out ;-)

Nelson, check your plastic "D Plates" at the sides of the truck opening. I was getting water in my truck when I washed the car. My D plates had small cracks I could only see when I removed the trunk weatherstrip. I repaired them with some waterproof sealer. No more leaks!

I resolved the problem by selling the rebody about a year ago. With four additional project cars I just did not need to keep the F308 rebody. Nelson | quote | Originally posted by Rick 88:

Done Hollered..... Dan get another brick under the rear wheels! That is where the weight in the Mera is located. Actually, I'd recommend some good jackstands instead.

Dan, I thought you were trying to LOWER the ride height...... you're just doing it all wrong. First bust up 4 holes in the concrete, then dig down a few inches...... And they said I wasn't mechanicaly inclined. huh! You are welcome.... ------------------ Julian - MERA #8071

thanks for the head up....but i am going for 3.4L min. and see alot more 3.4 DOHC than anything. then on top of that i see FastFieros for sale cheaper than the eng swap for the Mera. its killing me!!!! so i feel i will work on the Mera and get a Fast Fiero in the interum.......a job and it will be done. heck if i had a job all along i see me having at least 3 FF by now, Katatak's V8, AcursedX turbo 3800 and this 3.4 L DOHC. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymot...&hash=item336ce34679CRAP!!!! Dan, I'm glad for you..... unfortunately my word of the day starts with "F". My battery exploded, acid everywhere, large dent in the fender, trunk carpet stained......... oh well, on the bright side it was my Alfa Romeo and not my Mera. Apparently my voltage regulator failed and my alternater overcharged the battery. When I went to start it, the spark is all the gasses needed to explode like a shotgun! So you can now figure out that the "F" was not for "Fantastic" grrrrrrrrr ------------------ Julian - MERA #8071
