I checked my battery "at rest" and got a 12.9 voltage reading. Then again, while at idle, and got a 14.4 voltage reading, (gauge also reading on + side). This tells me my alternator is A-OK, and my problem may have been the cables I tightened. I also did check the belt, & it was tight. Thanks for your suggestions, I hope all my problems could be solved this quickly! Waynum
P.S. It's snowing, sooooo she's back in storage.
Page ownage, AGAIN! Look out Dan, I'm after your record!

Don't fret little buddy, the snows coming your way, maybe you can pick up a few bucks there.
As for that car...are the side scoops to far forward, on the door, shouldn't they be further back, say in front of the rear wheel?? Come to think of it what good would scoops be there, cool your crouch?

THANKS BOSS!! went in already once, but the big push is to come!
as far as the car that kind of Ferrair is low on my list of F-Cars.....so i dont know. the thing about that car is the engine....... since to drive a car one needs an engine, no matter what it looks like....that engine drives!!!

Also the rear wheel opening does not look correct. (it is pinched in closer to the tires at the bottom) This car may have had some crash repair in the back. I have see other 355 kits and the rear wheel opening had an even spacing around the tire.
Wayne, battery cables can deteriorate over time. They may look fine on the exterior and be shot inside. Might be a good idea to replace them if you have more problems. Also check that you have good grounds.

You might be on to something there Rick, it does look a bit hacked. The Mera is back in it's "hibernation mode" it's like 10 degrees out there, heck it's even hard for me to get started! Will check things out in Spring, if it comes. But I did see a Robin.....it was froze to death in a snow drift, clutching a little blue worm
*I named him "Dan".
* the little blue worm of course

i am stealing the "Queen" part......tooooooo funny!!! the stage is on the floor so the rear is closer to the centerline of the stage is my hope!! i would think if it were an obstructed view, i would know by now!! plus being in the side center of the stadium helps form the best combo, so far. i need to see ther stage set-up after the tour starts.....could be cool and HAS already made history! quick sell out and largest act to play the venue i think
Dan, Elton may be getting old, but he still sounds great. Saw him here in El Paso and he put on a fantastic show. You gotta see these guys while they can still perform. I saw the Stones recently too and skinny Mick still has it. Rock on!

Greetings, I just wanted to say what a great place I think Pennock's Fiero Forum is and this thread in particular.
Here is my car, a Fejer 308 kit on a 1985 GT. The build started in '93 and was finished in Ferrari Fly Yellow in '94.
I sold the car in the autumn of 2008
BUT, I recently saw my old car - with a new paint scheme on it's beautiful shape and made a deal to get it (again) and now can hardly wait until the summer.
-- Taken with iPhone.
Happy Motoring.
Best regards.

Thanks Rick. When I first painted the car, Ferrari Fly Yellow was very rarely seen on the streets.
I initially was not too fond of the fact that the new owner re-painted the car, but since it looks like a completely different car now, I really like it.
The wheels didn't come with the kit, I sourced them myself. They are 15" Cheviots and are no longer available, but still in good condition after almost 20 years.
IMO, these Fieros and other rebodies are like good friends and fine wine, we can really appreciate them greatly with the passage of time.
I'd certainly like to see more pics here. Have you any new pics of your car to share?
Cheers.

Welcome I FAR I, you will enjoy it here. Most are real straight shooters, there are of course a few "loose nuts" and one (maybe two) wack jobs you just have to guess which. Just be careful which ones you let use your bath room, or barrow your tools, and NEVER let them do both!
It's fun to find again your "first love" for me it was a 1966 Vette, paid a lot more the second time around, and funny thing, it didn't make me 24 again. Also I was amazed how many of it's "warts" I had forgotten about, to make things worse my wife hated it. So, I sold it, again, but this time for more than I paid for it. But you know what, if I found it again I would buy it again. Moral of story...keep it.
B666...Oh Yea, the colour is pretty much like you described it and really struck me this time, and, those pics you posted is just what I like to see.....ALL gorgeous automobiles!
WWP...LOL...I appreciate the 'heads-up' and agree fully about the first love thing and believe me I hope to keep her this time. When I sold the car it was because I was working so much that I hardly had time or opportunity to drive it. An appraiser and collector wanted to buy it and I figured after a good 15 years the time was right.......Wrong! I even had the occasional dream about driving the car after selling it, but thought my mind was playing tricks on me........well, when I saw the car was for sale, with it's new dark red shade, I jokingly said to the guy "I should buy it back if no one around here is smart enough to take it". Hmmmm. Anyway, I left his shop and drove down the highway and as fate would have it, a V8 Aston Martin drove up behind me. When it was passing by I got a good look at it and thought to myself - 'My old car looks better than that, drives great and probably cost 1/10 the price'.......That's what is REAL Nice about these cars!
Keep the pics coming guys, because everyone appreciates beautiful things.
Cheers

No problem and thanks for the pics Rick. I'd like to post them here if you agree.
The kit was bought in Feb of 1993 from George Fejer, the manufacturer of 308/328 and F40 kits here in Canada. He said at the time, that it took a $150k investment on his part to start his business. He was featured in an article of KIT CAR magazine back in the early 90s and was said to have sold approximately 200 kits. Fejer was highly regarded in the automotive field and was also supposed to be part of an Indy500 winning race team. Along with that distinction, he was also said to have been in Hollywood and helped with the construction of the Mustang used in the classic movie Bullitt starring Steve McQueen. I found him and his wife and son, to be very nice personable and professional people.
The kits were priced at $4500 US and $6500 Cdn in 1993 when I bought mine, but I got mine for $4k cash. That price included ALL body components, brackets, hardware and mirrors. George Fejer offered the option of having his shop put the car together for an additional $1200 - a great price imo, so I exercised that option. On offer was a Turbocharger install too, with the customer only needing to provide the Fiero and any other pieces such as wheels, springs, etc. that they wanted on the car, and, if so desired, people could also buy a 'turn-key' car. For my part, I limited my costs to the kit and the installation. I chose the 308 body style because it was the epitome of a sportscar and the Ferrari from my teen years.
I spent the spring and summer that year saving money for tires, wheels and paint, but would go on weekends to pay installments for the installation of the body and also to see the progress on the car at George's shop in Barrie, which was about an hour or so drive from Toronto, where I lived at the time. They always treated me well at the shop and were never too busy to answer questions.
By the autumn of '93 the car was put together and I went to pick it up and take it home. The next step was deciding whether to wait until the spring to do the paint and final wheel and tire combination, or to do it immediately before the coming winter........hmmmm, I decided to wait and take the time to get the car mechanically sound first, besides it didn't look too bad at all with it's white gel-coat and primer and I had some old Chevrolet Citation split 5 spoke rims on the car which looked real good and suited the sporty shape of the 308 body. I actually have some old Polaroids of the car at that stage, but wouldn't even know where to look for them now after about 6-7 moves since then. Oh well, c'est la vie!
Next: My thought process in deciding what wheel and tire combo to get and what colour to paint the car?
In going thru this thread, I've seen some cars that are painted in colours that I had considered and we all know by now which colour I chose, but we also know that there are a great many choices that could have been made.
So, maybe at this point, some of you could share your thoughts on the colours you chose for your cars and maybe show some pics if you've got them.
Cheers, Paul

Thanks for the history lesson on your car. I had heard of the Fejer name but had no idea he produced so many compared to the relatively small amount of Mera's built. I'd like to see some completed versions of the other body kits he offered. I remember the Citation X-11 wheels. Are those the one's you ran on your car. They were a good looking wheel. You are welcome to post any pictures I sent you.
Rick, it's kind of nice recollecting those days. The notion of driving an exotic looking sportscar for less money than an annual salary, was a great expectation to have then and still is now. I had found some of those X-11 wheels and ran them before the car was painted. I should have kept them too, because they suited the car really well. If anyone should ever find some, I'd recommend getting them and re-finishing them for a Mera or 308 style kit. They were 14" but they looked great on the car.
I've made an edit to my post about the number of kits sold by Fejer to approximately 200, because 2k would seem extraordinay....sorry.
To be absolutely certain though, maybe someone can find the actual magazine article.
B666....I like the look of the first pic with the chrome thin spoke rims.
Cheers

Rick 88s -- 88GT.....I am partial to the choice of colour here.
88 Mera......Lookin' Good!
Next time, some pics of older Pontiacs that were pure Excitement!

Paul, Thanks for posting pics of "Mellow Yellow" with the "Blue Meanie" my 1972 455-HO Trans Am in the background. My friends nicknamed my Mera "Sophia" as in Sophia Lauren, because the Mera is a curvy, hot blooded, Italian/American.
Sophia is the more mature but still very good looking version of the girl in the current Fiat Abarth commercial. As for the Fiat Abarth, sorry, but it does not hold a candle to the Mera's looks.
I am looking forward to seeing more pictures of your 308. What kind of performance increase did the supercharger make?
Yesterday we went to La Bellezza d'Italia--no, neither Sophia nor the Abarth girl were there, but there were F-cars and L-cars and Alphas beyond belief. I took only 4 pics and those of a 308 the likes of which I have never seen--custom body, twin turbo, and very well appointed:
OBTW, the redhead (testarossa?) in the picture doesn't belong to me, and she looked even better from the front ;-)
Sophia sounds about right, especially if that hot blooded latin temptress was the muse...lol
Here is the 75 T/A that you sent me...I've fond memories of this type of car.
My kit with the supercharger is supposed to be good for 220hp, but I will upgrade to a smaller pulley set and should get up to 250hp. I have the 85mph/140kph speedo, but during some spirited late night challenges I've seen the speedo turn round and round in 360 degree revolutions as the tach was at 6k rpm in 4th......I'll let you do the math.
this could be cool.....i was looking for that Swedish guys Mera and used a mail search on the pages Here that i emailed myself, when i thought it was going to get shut down by Cliff, anyway, i punched in JanR and got all the pages he had posted on.....cool.
so someone go back in the 1st 71 pages cuz thats all i have and pick a subject i can try to find using that search. if so i can make a glossary for subjects pertaining to spicific Mera and topics, like rear bumpers GETMESUM!!! clues that is let the hunt begin!! if this works i will email the rest of this thread for the total Mera Experience, and that book i promised
Nelson found a Mera and Posted in the Mall....and i was whining about the sticker thing again but, it made me start to dig..........again

i know that Indys does not follow format, but if its still being "worked on" its proof of a form of a early attempt, that still suits me fine Now JanR has said he only has a Paint code sticker too in his confirmed #7004 for this statement...............

soooo its between the 1986 Prototype with no sticker and #7004 and #7006, which seem to be the same. so i got a 1 in 3 shot!! but mind you, Rodney has the VINS of #7001 and #7003.....AWESOME!!! now its all or NONE its almost in stone i swear. i am about 95% sure i have Mera #7002!!! most of you have been here all along and i see i got cut short with some drama (pg69) around the time Mera #7004 was found......so i never got the follow thru with JanR, but the pictures i do have, are the clincher, that and a previous owners address as a fringe lead i still have as a finisher. so this year i am still in the game but winning, big time
this thread is completely AWESOME!!! and full of info!!!.................. and i love it!!! thanks to all who have shared and helped make this thread the leading source of Pontiac Mera info!!!!
