speaking of which, hey Rick you know what year the Red TA in the middle is??? 70's????
cuz it looks like the car in Hooper

so you guys think that GM killed the TransAm for the new Camaro like they killed off the Fiero for the Vette??
i saw a dude in a New Camaro, eyeballing me.......i was like" what??" too funny.
the last time i drove my TA, the new body style Camaro was not out......hahahahaahahha!!!
this could get interesting. time for a tune up, methinks

I think the red T/A in the middle is a 1979 with the 6.6 litre or 403 c.i. motor, last year of the big engine T/As. I had one of them and a 1975 with 455 c.i. motor....lots of fun!

That body style was produced from 79-81. The 8 in, wide snowflake wheels designate the WS6 performance package. In 1979 the engines were 6.6 (Olds 403) or T/A 6.6, which the upgrade 400 Pontiac engine available only with the manual transmission. In 1980 the Pontiac 4.9 (stick or auto), and Turbo 4.9 (auto only) became available engines. In 81 the previous two engines were joined by the 5.0 Chevy V8 In certain states due to emissions. I believe the 5.0 was available with both manual and auto transmissions.

The 455 manual transmission T/A that I Far I had was relatively rare. It was brought out mid 75 after Pontiac fans mourned the discontinuation of the 455 at the end of 1974 as a regular production option. The 455's last year was 1976, which was also the first year for the infamous 'black and gold" special edition T/A's. A black and gold 76 with the 455 stick is quite collectible these days.

Since you into movie cars, here is one you probably have not seen. Do a search for the movie "Hot Rod's to Hell" The movie car in this one is a 58 or 59 Corvette. The car is jacked up with a straight front axle, and a roll bar that looks to be made out of exhaust tubing. If you can actually find a copy to watch, this is a real late 50's cult film.

Here is the big finish.

I can't believe you found that footage. It's even cheesier than I remember. The cars a pretty cool though, except for that ugly Plymouth the family has.......

IT'S RUNNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After all that jagging around it turns out to be the ignition coil!
The only thing is I now have a "Service Engine Soon" light on, and she stalls at idle, still an improvement.

It's kind'a dirty, think I should run it through the car wash????

Thanks for all the help team'o!

Darn, I should not have said anything about checking the coil. I was hoping you were going to send the Mera to me as a "parts car" Wayne, disconnect the battery for a couple of minutes and then attach it back. That should clear you check engine light. You will have to drive it a few miles for the computer to re learn. It will run a little ragged until you do this. Take your other car thru the car wash, and pretend it's the red one.

no, not really. i had just emailed myself my" Mera Owners In MI" thread from the tech section and was waxing nostalgic. i am confident that i have #7002. but you know..............it would be nice to have some closure after all the time and effort

actually i posted Rodneys quote, for the shear fact of how many holes are in the registery.....and the statement about having 85 recorded instead of the rumored 88 1987 Mer(i) which is where i jumped to an assumption of 2 Prototypes. the 1986 and mine the Automatic proto, maybe................

Plus i miss my baby;(

Have any of you talked to Tom (Fiero-In-Paradise) lately? I don't really follow this thread but I haven't seen a post by him in months.

Just curious,

Since you specified a six cylinder engine, I have at least one that can qualify. It has a manual Getrag 282, 3800 SC Series III engine with XP cam, intercooler, N* TB, 3.4 pulley and has certainly managed to spin 265 x 50 x 15 tires.

Well, he's been quiet since he bought the Corvette, but I did get a email from him not long ago.

John was older than me, but he always called me his "big" brother ;-)

Well, it is the "warm" season here. Julian will be here in a couple days, he can give you guys a report. I just wonder if I'll be expected to visit Ontario in February.

You guys kill me....
Apparently it's not hot enough here in the North East where we just hit 100F..... so I thought I'd go to Arizona. I hear they hit 115F but they tell me that is dry heat. I always wanted to know what "dry heat" feels like, so I opened the stove, set it to 115F and stuck my head in there...... too bad the tickets are prepurchased for Arizona! Frick that's hot.

You guys ever want to come to Ontario let me know....I'll tell you what to do with your ice box in the fridge.

Julian, when you go to Arizona just wear a hat, some good sunglasses and light colored clothes. You will be fine. You might even get a chill. We were 105 here yesterday. Didn't even break a sweat. (It evaporates too fast!)

As for sticking you head in the oven, I will defer comment on that to Dan.

Here is a brand new Mera option according to the seller. It apparently has a driver's side air bag as well as a current warranty. Unfortunately there are some missing parts and no real interior photos included which makes me a bit suspicious.

Dan,

I assume that your air bag is not functional but correct me if I am incorrect. I also requested additional pictures as well as info on the airbag but no response so far.

Nice looking car, except for the wheels. They look like 19's which are too big for me on the Mera.
