This guy is obviously new, I got 2 of mine off e-bay.
Who else scored off e-bay?

Where did the 90 left number come from?
Any way to find out how true that may be?
I gave 15k for the t-top 88 5 to 6 years back with 58k (he was wanting 16). The other 88 (40k) and the 87 (30k) were under 10 with minor problems.

Mine came off the internet, but e-bay. Price is hard to fix as I traded my SLK for the car, but I think it was around $13,500.00 with 45k for my 88 GT.

Hey Wayne, I'm a big Benz fan myself and would like to know how your Mera compared to the SLK?

I know the Fiero is no Mercedes, but the sports car specific comparison is intriguing to me.

I currently own a C215 CL500, a C208 CLK320 and a W140 300SE and love them all.

Was your SLK the R170, or the R171?

Cheers.

I got Mera X off the E-bay, from Orlando, FL.....$8840 with about 69,000 miles.
the guy had a total of 3 Mera.My stock 1987. the other 2 were 88's, one had a 3800 sc and the other was BobBraceys old Northstar Mera.

as far as the "90 left" number i think thats the number Rodney had in the registry at the time of print. its reflected in the Mera Newsletters i think

My SLK was a 280 Supercharged, it was fun, fast and handled very well, build quality was too Chrysler like. I miss the power top (when it worked), but it's real problem was that it had been a repo, and as such had a rough life. Even with that, it was a "tighter" car than the Mera, but didn't turn heads like the Mera can.

Aloha everyone!! Yes I am alive and still kicking here in Hawaii. As you know, we have an autistic son, so having to keep an eye on him 24/7 takes up a lot of time. Spend more time tinkering with the Corvette. Wouldn't you know it, I'm trying to chase down an idle hunt, just like on the Mera. I did have time to take the Mera on a short cruise this am, drove down through Waikiki. This guy actually held up traffic while he was in the crosswalk to take a picture of the car! LOL...still trying to break the 29K mark on the odometer.

Have a great Independence Day Holiday!

Aloha!

I see, one thing I love about Mercedes, is that their cars are very solid and tight....thanks for the info.

Not real sure, but I may be one of the very few that has a Mera, that actually shows as a Mera. I like it much better now, talking with folks about the history of the Mera, and not having to explain "if its so collectible, why is badged out like a Ferrari?"

Looks like you guys had a good time Julian. Richard, where did you get the faux chrome key locks for the sail panels on your car?

First owner had it badged up like an F-car, second owner replaced most of it--the faux lock is the only remaining evidence. I met the second owner about two months ago, he drove out from California to check up on how I was treating his baby.

OBTW, I got my MERA off the web sight unseen, but with the confidence of purchasing from Paul V--it was exactly as he described it.

Yeah, we had a great time with Julian and his beautiful and gracious wife, Cathy.

I would say Richard is about 6'-4" so little old me at 5'-9" should of stood on a stool for the pic.
I will be on my way home later tonight (Saturday). I promise to bring home some dry heat.
The weather was hot when I got here last week but we got use to the 100+ temperatures.
Actually Richard said we got very lucky with the weather, it's usually hotter.

For the record, the rims that Richard has on his Mera are way cool. They are almost dished. Look great on the car.

They were built to the owner's specs, and I would have to guess by someone in LA.

I don't know where a rim measurement is taken, but measuring from the outer-most surfaces I get 8.5" on the front and 9" on the rear--seems kinda wide, huh.

The reverse offset gives them that deep dish look. Do you have any picutures sighting down the side of the car to show how the wheels fill the fender opening?

Julian, great photos with Richard, glad I saw them early on (via cell phone). And thanks for bringing forward those original pictures of my Mera and the kind words...almost brought a tear to my eye.

I don't get a chance to post that much, but I do read (and enjoy) each one! Keep it alive!

Tom, glad to hear from you. Since you got a Vette, I thought you might have gone over to the "dark side" I still like my Mera better than our Corvette. My wife can kick my a** with the Vette though......

Richard thanks for the pics. I don't think my Mera would clear those wider wheels since it lowered all around. I am currently running 18X7's with 225/40/18's in front and 18X8's with 265/35/18's on the back with no clearance issues. The Cromadoras are getting a refresh and will be back on later this year with new rubber.

OK all you creative Mera owners out there. The thread is a bit slow in the summer so here is a NON-technical idea for $hitz&giggles. You all heard the Jimmy Buffet song "Cheeseburger in paradise"..... look up the lyrics and change the words around so it would sound more like "Real Mera in paradise".... Just pick one verse .. not the whole song.

Post the original verse with your modified verse....

LOL...well, now I guess I'll have to take a photo of the Mera in front of Cheeseburger Land in Waikiki...

Hey Rick! What size tires are you planning to go with on the Cromadora rims?

Hey Danno, howzit?

Richard thanks for the pics. I don't think my Mera would clear those wider wheels since it lowered all around. I am currently running 18X7's with 225/40/18's in front and 18X8's with 265/35/18's on the back with no clearance issues. The Cromadoras are getting a refresh and will be back on later this year with new rubber.

I managed to get 295 x 50 x 15 wheels on the rear axle of an 88 Mera using the Chromadoras. It works but I intend to go back to the standard 265 x 50 x 15 size when I get some new tires.

So, Rick, what's the big secret? I'd like to know what tire sizes you are planning, too.

UPDATE: Just in case this happens to you - If you will remember I was having some running problems with the Mera even after I fixed the "No Starting after a car wash problem." What was happening was I only had about a 500 rpm idle, not enough to keep it running, a check engine light, and a back fire. After my car guy checked it all over he found that it was the computer (behind the console) that was bad. These are, I am told, a common fail item, and only cost $95.00 to replace, now she runs even better than before. F.Y.I.

also, a note of interest. totally off topic but, i confirmed that the Customer i am working for, CyTec......
well they make raw CarbonFiber and that CarbonFiber material, in turn gets made into componets for Ferrari and Buggatti the VEYRON!!!!
hows that for just commin off the bench?? eh?? AWESOME!!!!

this place is sooo deep in high end composite compounds....that the security guard drives an old whaletail Porsche 911
