nelson is the authorized distributor here. talk to him about the emblems. if he is out then i will sell you a set. basically the 2.8 v6 emblem came from a 1986 s10 truck, and the gts came from a 1987 chrysler lebaron gts. i have them but again talk to nelson. i am always, repeat always happy to share information that i have.
its probably safe to say that very few if any besides corporate concepts themselves has been as deep into a "mera" as i have. so i happen to know a lot of intimate details. merry christmas everyone.
This is the plastic part inside the mirror that is fairly easy to break. If you look on the upper left side, you will see a small white blob that used to be part of the mirror movement unit. The larger remaining portion of this piece is the white looking bar that is perpendicular to the motor assembly. I have not tried to glue this together, but it does not look like a very good prospect since I do not know hat the plastic material is and thus cannot select a good adhesive. I can show you this part and the frame but do not intend to disassemble another one unless it is absolutely necessary since my spares are more than limited.

Nelson, I have used "JB Weld" with great success to repair all kinds of different materials. It is not the most elegant repair material, but it is very strong and can be ground on or sanded if necessary. What are the steps to disassemble the mirror? I would really like to try and repair my housing, but it will need to come apart to do it properly. Thanks for any additional info you can provide.

Does anyone have the dimensions of the front Mera badge?
Also did the Meras come with any outer weatherstrip or dew wipes on the door windows?
TIA
Larry
Larry,
I do not think that most Meras have Ferrari badging based on what I have seen. A significant number of the Meras (75%) in my collection were badged as Meras. The remaining one is now being reconverted to a stock Mera configuration.
All of my Meras did have the outer weatherstrip/dew wipe on the door and are basically stock doors with a piece added on the top of the inner door panel. WRT the Mera front nose badge, what dimensions do you want? I can help you out once I have that information.

No authorization on my part in spite of what Mike says. I happen to have some spares that I have collected to benefit Mera owners and can sometimes part with a few of them. In this case I have several (NOS or original items) and never anticipate using them again. Antone who can help is welcome to provide supplies for other Mera owners.

larry, my mera has factory fiero dew wipes. as far as badging, mine has fcar emblems. i have some aftermarket mera emblems that one of the members here made in case i ever want to put it back to mera. but unlikely since my interior, wheels, badges, brakes, and suspension are all fcar.

My Mera has a different engine and I'm going to put the PISA dash kit in it also. I just want to get rid of the fcar badging. It still has the GT badge on the back so I thought I would put a Mera emblem on the front.
The PO painted my car and probably took the dew wipes off and never got around to putting them back on. The Fiero Store has window felt kits so I may just pull the doors apart and put all new window felts in.
I am thinking about coilovers for front and back and a big brake kit also.

Thanks for the info,
I looked at the fcar badge on the front of my Mera and it fits the indent. I'll use it as a pattern for the Mera badge. Thinking of a billet aluminum machined piece and have it anodized.
Were the 88 emblems silver or gold, and were they polished or brushed finish?

The 88 nose badges were gold and black with somewhat of a polish type of finish. Pictures can be made available if you need them.
I thought you Mera guys might like to see this brochure I bought off EBay about a year ago. It's just a single page featuring the '87. I'm sure some of you may already have this in your collection. Note, no Ford backup light near as I can tell.

Nice info. No weight listed--I suspect that the Mera is significantly heavier than the Fiero. Both my '87 and '88 GT's were/are quicker than my Mera.
Edit: All you never [sic] really wanted to know about the F car--things get detailed about page 7. http://308gtb.tumblr.com/

If anyone else wants to see pictures of a disassembled Mera Vitaloni power mirror, I can downsize and post them. Just let me know if it is a topic of interest. I e-mailed Rick full size ones and can also do that for anyone who wants photos with more resolution.
The owner wants something like $16000 for the prototype and I have not actively pursued this specific vehicle. Mike, if you want to provide the cash, I will happily store it in a garage with HVAC. If I had known of this vehicle when I started my Mera acquisition/restoration process I would have bought it first but now that I have four others to support, my interest is somewhat less.

Just a quick heads up for those with 308 kit's or if your Mera has the original 308 Ferrari front turn signal assemblies that need replacement. Mine are brittle, cracked and epoxied together so I ordered a set of turn signal assemblies from "EVM". They are quality and a perfect match for the original Ferrari units on my 308 kit.

Can you post a direct link to their website? I was not able to find it.
Found him in this build ---- My Mera Style 308 Project --- Rob Long East Valley Motorsports ---- Just drop him a note / tell him what you need and he will send you a pic and a price / I'll be doing the Ferrari turn/back up lights next. I have his link some place and will update later today.

He does very nice work but you do need to know that his tail light lenses will not fit on a Mera (at least without some modification). I got one of his old external tail light mounting platforms/rings and found that it does not fit the Mera lenses. BTW, if anyone needs a Ferrari logo, I have two in decent to good shape for very reasonable prices and would like to get them gone from the basement.
I will be doing the entire assembly not just the lens. If this is what you did what were the mods you needed to make.
With his skills maybe he would be open to making MERA tail light assemblies and or lenses in both red and yellow --- couldn't hurt to ask
I had a mold of the Mera tail light assembly constructed using my F308 modified one and got a few decent parts off of it before it became unusable. Then I used the NOS amber Mera lenses that I had and installed them on the car. BTW, I do have a price from him to make the Mera lenses in red and amber but the start up costs are fairly high even though the lenses are less than I sell the NOS ones for. This may well be an option when/if we need new lenses manufactured. I am currently down to somewhere around six OEM red lenses and one amber. That leaves either four or five red lenses available since I need to keep at least one of each color for future use.
BTW, the Mera lens was slightly larger than his tail light assembly ring.

its around 200.-250. for the mold materials, around 140.-150. for the colored resins, 90. for the hardner and that does not include labor to build a buck mold and a couple of pouring mistakes for proper color turnout. its best to use a vacuum chamber so you dont have air entering the parts. so yes it can get pricey to make lenses.
Im not sure, after putting in fiero convertible in google and bing, it looks like it was an aftermarket kit you could install or have installed. not sure tho.
I don't think it's very pretty. On the other hand, there is a 355 Spyder kit out there, Stinger maybe, that is a real looker.
Why no pic with the top down.....*FAIL* for the life of me i cant figure out why, if a car has a special detail or trait, as a selling point *ahem*MERA STICKER* why dont they embellish a little instead of the, no nod at all??? very strange indeed.....
