On your red car, you painted ends just below the rear bumper, did you open up the black vent area or just keep it painted black? I like the front spoiler painted red even though it is black from Corporate Concepts. Did you also paint the red farther down on the side of the car as well? My car is due for paint so I am gathering ideas......

sooo he did follow thru..... I gave Mr Lingenfelter Alan's Number for the Prototype back in the Spring of 2013. I was in hope Ken would preserve #6001 forever!! Ken is a real cool cat

Nelson, Why don't you loan Lingenfelter your best Mera--think of the exposure.
the Problem here, Ken is a total "Purist". he wants perfect and perfect to him is STOCK! he would be mad at me if he saw what I did to Mera X. impressed, but very disappointed that I had swapped in some go fast.
example.....he passed on the Prototype cuz "it needed too much work" soooo that's a high standard in my book cuz #6001 was not that bad to look at not at all.

i am going to e-mail him Alans phone number. this guy will take good care of the Prototype so its on the table! this could get very interesting.......Mr Lingenfelter is already a Fiero owner. so it stands to reason
sooo much fun and cars i had to get kicked out by Mr Lingenfelter himself. HA!

Finding an unaltered, original paint, matching numbers Mera may be difficult. I still have the stock eq casette radio and ugly hub caps for my Cromodoras, but they are on the shelf. Also mine has a 3.4 PR swap. It looks original but it's not the factory 2.8. Soon it will be a 3.4 DOHC, Woo Hoo!
Mine is a an unaltered, original paint, matching numbers 88 MERA. I did put in the Pontiac factory CD player but that can be changed back in about 5 minutes.

Mine have a few more modifications so your Mera may be a better candidate for Mr. Lingenfelter than one of mine. None of mine have original paint or engines and I am quite happy about that.

Rick,
The rear areas below the bumper were just painted black and not opened up since I did not see any benefit in doing so. I did open up both side vents and am using one for a cooler air supply to the engine. My car is red all the way down with the exception of the belt/side marker strip which is black. On the front end, all of the fiberglass parts are painted red but the lower rubber like portion of the front air dam is black. I can take specific pictures if that would help you.

I would consider doing that but have no idea as to how long he would want to display it. I am not interested in a permanent load with no payment to me.

My car was all matching numbers/paint/ factory leather/ etc. but the extra weight of the Mera bodywork meant the 2.8 did not perform near as well as my stock 2.8 yellow 88 GT 5-speed. With the 3.4 PR it now pulls stronger than the yellow 88. With the upcoming DOHC, it should run, and sound, like it looks!
If you sell yours to Lingenfelter for big bucks, you could buy another one to have some fun with......

Thanks for the info Nelson. Pics are not necessary just yet. I plan to repaint the car after the DOHC swap. Perhaps it is sacriledge, but I am considering changing the exterior color from red. Over the years I have owned many red cars, and I am getting burnt out on the color.

Rick,
I also like the gunmetal gray car that I have and plan to eventually paint the last Mera in a 2006 Lotus British Racing Green to go with a stock Beechwood interior.

Nelson, the "Lime Rock Green" metallic offered on the 2014 Stingray is also a very nice looking green. It would look great with the beechwood interior too. I can emai you a picture of a Stingray in this color if you want.

Was a nice car, interior has been changed to a 308 copy. Thats a turn off for me unless it is from Amida, which it is not. It looks like the chassis is tweaked from the angle of the right front tire and the upper frame rail. Lost a Vitaloni too. Everything could be swapped to an undamaged chassis and a new front end is available, but it would be a big job. Engine does not have the engraved "Fiero" intake of the 87-88 models. Might be a replacement. One bid on it already. Nelson, is that you????

The bid is not from me. The current price plus shipping makes it a nonstarter for me. I have the spare parts (interior, mirrors, etc.) but not the quarter panel. I could do the work but would need a lower price to make this attractive to me.
Guys, I have recently acquired two working sets (L/R) of Vitaloni power mirrors. If someone needs one set for a Mera restoration, please let me know. As always, they are not the least expensive mirrors but I will sell them for what I have in them to help restore a vehicle. These mirrors match the original model number on my Meras mirrors.
Mera experts, I'm trying to get center caps for my Mera with Cromadora wheels. Will the stock Fiero 2 inch center caps fit? If not, do you know where I could get some? Thanks!

There something you may need to think about before worrying about the center caps for the Chromadoras. They were designed specifically for the 1988 Meras and have a different offset than the 87s which should be identical to the 86 offsets. You may need spacers to make them look good. With respect to the center cap question, I think that stock Fiero center caps can be made to work but it may take silicone sealer on the back. I have several sets of center caps for my 88 Meras and the stock ones apparently fit one of the Chromadora sets but not on the other one. Someone may have modified one of my Chromadora sets but I have not made the measurements to confirm/deny this fact.
Unless Rodney has added new items to his inventory, he no longer carries the MERA stickers for the center cap and I do not think that he ever had specific center caps for the Chromadoras. Maybe he will chime in to confirm this one way or another.

these have been on Ebay for at least a year or so......not the original design, but would look good with the silver body color maybe something to consider in the meantime.
