you know??, after looking (starring) at MERA #8002 i realize, the dark red color is a lighting optical. but, that engine bay looks horrible. with the rust and all the whatiss. the most i would offer, after the in person tire kick, is $10,000 cash. only cuz the 2nd '88 Mera made and the low miles. again, it better look good in person tho. back to the starring. I have been following the MERA thread for some time now and this MERA for $20,00.00 should look like new not the way we see it now. Being a Ferrari enthusiast I would like to own a MERA in the future as I can not see a Ferrari in my future. I have some 600-700 articles from magazines, news papers and other sources for info on Fiero. I been looking for articles on MERA's but only have found some in Car and Driver, High Performance Pontiac and a couple in news papers. (Rodney would like to know if you have any Mera info I could add to my Fiero MERA collection?)

my power vitaloni mirrors are for sale on a live auction on ebay. no reserve reduced price for 2010 inventory reduction. thanks, mike in oklahoma ps for the future i will be closing out all my porsche and ferrari cars and parts. will be concentrating on meras and pro monster trucks only. mike
paced84, e-mail me, would like to compare notes and perhaps we can help each other out on Mera info.
Agree, that ain't worth $20K, especially in today's market. My paint job is not as nice as this one, but the rest is certainly nicer/cleaner (LOL...at least IMHO). I only have 28K mileage on mine, and I'd be happy to sell it for $12K.
Hey guys, I heard on this am's news of yet another cold(er) front moving through the CONUS. Be safe...and warm!

Gotta run to work. Tom
Tom,
Your car should bring 12k easy. I would think more mid teens. The only issue is shipping to some place other than Hawaii...... I figure that would be pricey. As I recall yours is an automatic, correct? I just had to have a 5-speed.

hmmm... wonder how much shipping would be to the states (TX).
i would love to have this car, it's so close (location) and yet so far away (price). is this car worth $25K (I know if someone is willing to pay then it is)? i would go check this car out but it 1.5 hours away, then only time i would be even close to it would be after NTFC monthly meeting. if they still have it then i might swing by to look at it. if it's open on saturday.
This car is in good, but far from excellent condition. Low miles are only a plus depending on how hard the miles were put on. This car is also not original paint. The paint code B8590L is for the bright red, not metallic red. I am not sure if any metallic red MERA's were produced.
My Mera has more mileage, but is much cleaner than this one. Also, it was an original owner car that was never altered with "Ferrari" badging. Some MERA badging is now hard to source if you plan to return the car to stock. The advantage you have is you could drive it home which will save you shipping costs. I had mine shipped half way across the country. Personally I would not go more than 15 to 16k as you don't have to pay for shipping. You will still have lots of detailing work ahead, and what ever "fixes" the car needs. As hard as these cars are to find, this one is still worth considering, but at a lower price.

Tom, Interestingly, this is the first Mera I made a serious attempt to buy, http://www.paradisecruisers...p?topic=13086.0;wap2 . I'll let you figure out who it belonged to. Never could hook up with the seller, but did some googling regarding shipping costs--sorry, didn't keep the quotes. Auto shipping is a lot like mail, it's a commodity and service is pretty consistent across carriers, and given the service you require, e.g. response time, enclosed carrier, etc. rates are similar. Whomever you "list" with, your requirements will go on the "big board" and carriers will contact you with their offer. I shipped a Mera from Chicago to Phoenix for about $650--picked up within a week and then a few days in transit. It arrived clean and undamaged.
Other advice--take your time and explore all possible sources. While I would have really liked to have had Tom's car--oops I gave it away--I found others that were pretty good buys. Having said that, I let a beauty slip through my fingers by being hesitant. I ended up buying through Paul Vargyas, a guy well known in the Fiero comminity, and so far, vary happy with the car--see http://home.xnet.com/~paulv/index.htm. OBTW, Paul is the "WFA" on Fiero prices.

funny..... this is what 0 degrees looks like mathmatically...
and speaking of rare, there you are Thomas. hahahaha...sup?? seems that 1987 SE Fieros are in their own right rare, due to low production numbers. less that 4000 SE's total. thing is, some of thems were 4cyl. huh? guy says at a car show "out of 100 Fieros he was the only SE." Daytona i believe. thats something...onto its self. cool. this Mera thing keeps getting better....later
Dan
*EDIT* for.... ohhh i had Mera X shipped from FL via "portable parking lot" with that ding dong bid process... made it take longer, but by comparison it seemed to shave a cool $500 plus for your patience. so i waited 'pernt near 3 weeks for delivery after payment of car off e bay. total price was $643 or so. not bad price and happy with the new arrival.

I do not believe that the car is worth $25 K. If you want to pay me $25 K then I might consider selling my 87 Mera with a turbo 3.4 engine.

Per the Matson Navigation webpage, $1,072.00 to either Seattle, WA, or Long Beach or Oakland CA ports, from Honolulu. Not sure if they tack on HI tax to that. I am confident I could drive my Mera cross country.
I haven't had time to install this yet, hopefully soon though:
This is Rodney's Tru-Line Damper System, made specifically for the Mera due to the larger tires up front. This set is brand new, never installed. Rodney no longer makes these. This is probably the last new one in existence anywhere.
Also got a set of Fiero1Fan's low profile headlight buckets. I had them professionally powder-coated black. Still need funds to buy the lights and harness. I'm hoping to be the first one to have the round, low profile lights on a Mera.
Does anyone want to help me choose the exterior color of the last MERA that I have for restoration? It will have a Beechwood interior and I am thinking about either a British Racing Green or a Fly Yellow color. Right now I am leaning towards the BRG color. What other colors might also look good with this car?
I really do not know the engine HP with this setup since I have never dynoed it. I am only using about 7 pounds of boost right now and do not have the car tuned to a fine point for maximum HP. I am conservative enough to want reliability over raw HP. I also have a couple other vehicles with larger engines if I really want to play. My best guess is that the engine will produce somewhere around 220 to 230 HP at this time.
My first 88 has a 3800 SC Series III engine with cam, N* TB, intercooler, 3.4 puley, cold air intake, etc. and pulls a lot harder than the 87. Here are a couple of photos of this vehicle.
That other 88 MERA will have a 383 engine that has been dynoed at 440 HP and will be a beast and a half. This will be a long term project and I do not expect to complete everything in the next 18 to 24 months. This is the original project vehicle that I will use for this restotation effort.

Great! Like the 3800 T-Top. The top makes it look more like the 308 GTS, and the 3800 III will scald the F-car. I like it; would like to have one like it, ultimately. Would even consider a straight Fiero with those feature--probably be less of a cop-catcher.
I see some eyes and heads of the boys in blue rotating toward me when I drive the red T-Top. So far they have only looked but I have been careful to only open it up a bit at night on a deserted highway. The only time that I have ever been pulled over was in a F308 rebody. The cop followed me for a mile or two and then hit the lights when I signaled to do a left turn into a restaurant. He asked for my license, registration, and insurance. When I supplied them, he then left. According to him, I had run a red light several miles back but I did not even push a yellow. I also believe that he would have pulled me over then if I had really run the light. He inspected the car thoroughly during the stop so I think that he just wanted to look at the car. Maybe he was just not expecting to see a grey haired old guy crawl out of the car.

I like the green, but I have not see many green Ferrari's. The Fly yellow would look good too. How about having the Cromodora's powder coated in the magnesium gold color of the '"Scuderia" racing Ferrari's That color wheel would look good with either paint color and tie into the beechwood interior also.
What kind of paint did you use for the engine compartment on the 3800 car? I want to detail mine and I like the low gloss finish.
I saw an episode of "I Chase Classic Cars" where the star was showing at Concorso Italia in a category "Giallo Modena" There were F-cars and Maseratis all dressed up in yellow--very, very cool!
I think that POR 15 was used here but will have to go back and check the records when I get back home. The restorations are starting to run together in my mind right now.

i would vote to keep the documented Mera's their stock color, in my opinion. but, on the same subject, if your thinking of a more modern color, try Metallics. thats where i am at with my need for a new color. if i find some examples i will post them here.

Hope you do not mind that I post this one? I think this is the best one but I am a little old school
not at all. you made it. but really, you like the grey? I thought if the grey was silver or chrome, maybe. well, check this then if you would, how 'bout the grey rims on the black lower pic?? just to make sure. My engine grill on the rear deck is silver aluminum so i kinda have that (self imposed) restriction/color theme the grill is supposed to be black but weathered over the years.
i was gonna wait awile and in your P-shop thread but i got another request if i could? do you know how to do chrome as a body color?? like a dark red/Wine color in a metallic? or maybe a dark copper color?? like in the pic of that truck above heck, any color you may want to try, have at it. i have multiple angle pics and the such, and i tend to be very post happy. so lets play pretend. Later Daniel

OK so I did the silver on the two tone then tried to chrome them let me know what you think click on the link below and go to the last page. as for chrome paint I could try but would prob not look right as for differant colors if I take so time with it and you can see just about anything
with the e bay Mera, i agree. i really like the fact that its an '87 i would throw some new paint on too, though. gonna ask for the Mera # today and more pics, later Dan
