My 88 has the GTS emblem and I have some pics of an 87 with 15,000 miles that is supposed to be all original and it has the GTS emblem also.
Two of my Meras were all original and did not have any GTS badging on them. I did see the 2.6 L V6 and stock Mera letters plus the original nose badge but no GTS. The other two Meras were "converted" to F208 vehicles and also did not display the GTS emblem. No surprise with the lack of GTS on the F car imitations. The GTS marking may have only been used on a few vehicles or possibly installed by the owner, but we are unlikely to ever know. Does anyone remember if the prototype vehicle had the GTS designation?
Dan posted a pic of 6001 and X in the middle of this page: https://www.fiero.nl/forum/F...HTML/077195-134.html and it looks like it has both the "GTS" and the "2.8V6" badge. But it also has the horse, so ?...
My Mera 7039 have not T-top, but have the GTS badge.
Like many other Mera, my car also have the horse emblem at the rear end, and a Ferrari emblem at the nose. I want to replace all this with the originals. Where'd customers get these Ferrari emblems from ? , did Corporate Concepst help the customers ?
I bought my 2.8 V6 emblem from a 1986 Chevrolet Celebrity. 100% identical :-)

The F car badges are easily available over the internet or even from a Ferrari dealer but they can be pricey (depending on the quality). Original MERA front nose badges (different in 87 and 88) are almost impossible to find even at outrageous prices. Several people have had various reproduction nose badges made (including the person who started this thread). I have one original 87 nose badge that might look OK if the plastic was polished but had not planned to sell it. The MERA rear deck lid letters were cut from various GM cars and can be made using the appropriate SE and GRAND AM letter sets. These sets are not easy to find but if you need some I will see if I still have the information for them.
Jen, I have one spare front badge foil that I will offer to a fellow Mera owner. It is only the foil, and would need mounting to a aluminum backing plate. Jen, jeg har en ledig foran badge folie som jeg vil gi til en stipendiat Mera eier. Det er bare folien, og ville trenge montering til en aluminiumsstøtteplate .
Nelson : I`m looking for GRAND AM SE letters at ebay, if you know about some, please let me know.
Thank you Rexgirl for offer me the front emblem foil.
I have already made an order on 8 "x 12" sheet (300dpi black at transparent sticker) with lots of Mera 87 and 88 emblem, hub caps, horn button etc in different sizes. I have working hard to make them autentic. I`m very excited to see the quality of the work, later I hope to offer this to other Mera owners.
Jens

A few years ago I went on a grand search and bought all the old stock from the dealerships and warehouses. I still have one full set of the words you will need if you are interested. Ill sell it for exactly my purchase price plus shipping to you.
Well we need a little help. I am helping my 17 year old grandson working on his #7040 Mera. It is pretty much complete but non of the badging. Former owner may still have some of it but we are trying to get it from him when he is available. Right now we are working on the tail lights. We have the 4 original Mera 1 lights. We want to divide the signals and brake lights. I have gone through almost all the 146 pages in this forum and saw a couple of times about a white wire that needs to be cut to separate the the two sets of lights. Anyone know which post or can tell me what to do without my having to go back through it all. Also would help if someone has the wiring diagram for the rear lights. Looks like the grandson has the second yellow Mera in Canada but this one is in British Columbia. thanks gord
This is how I resolved the problem of my turn lights illuminating along with the brake lights on my 1987 SE based Mera... My solution involved the C-500 connector.
To disable the brake switch from activating the rear orange (outside) turn lights on my SE based Mera, I did the following: Locate the C500 wiring connector mounted on the passenger side frame rail between the battery and the front of the strut tower. It has two multi-wire plugs; a front plug for the rear lights the another plug for the engine. Look at the front plug and you should see a LOOP of white wire that sticks out about three inches. Cut that looped wire and cover the cut ends with electrical tape. Now if I press the brake pedal, one half of each red tail light glows and the high mounted brake light (in the rear window) illuminates, and the orange (turn) tail light stay dark.
For the 87 Mera SE is it the same wiring diagrarm as the regular Se for the tail light wiring? thanks. gord
I could be wrong but believe that most if not all 87 Meras were based on the GT platform. In 88 they switched to the SE version but there were still a few (around 6 IIRC) built on the GT platform.
The early 1987 Meras were based on SE models. It is interesting to learn that Meras were possibly SE based up to car #7040 (my SE Mera is #7029). As Nelson said, Corporate Concepts then changed to GT models for the rest of 1987 (and a bit into 1988, so I've heard). And just to make things confusing, the factory also added Formula models to the mix in 1988. Gord, it seems reasonable that you have standard SE model wiring up to where C.C. physically connected it to their tail light re-wiring. Still, since I've never needed to work on stock Fiero rear wiring and so can not compare them to our cars, I can't say for sure.
I present my version of Mera rear end emblem. I want my Mera to be shown as a Mera, and not as a Ferrari. That is why I exchanged the Ferrari horse to this alternative Mera version. Look at my pictures, and tell me what you think. Thank you.
great job Jens. Still waiting for the Viking ship to arrive with the emblems. Maybe next week. We are just getting ready for an inspection as the car was brought from another province. Just a few things to fix before it happens. gord
so I get an email notification about a Pennocks PM and its from you freeks! WHATS BEEN UP!??? I had better catch up..........only a few pages it seems. what did I miss??? *EDIT* holy crap only like 3 pages but soooooo much happened. Nelson? wow.....that sucks!! cringed when I saw them pictures. hope all went well so far. ASTRO B DEAN!! that color is awesome!!! wow wee!! and now the the GTS badge.......I always thought the GTS was for the sunroof cars.....the sales video may show some thing to help divine truth. but, these pics seem to have the GTS on them. if they did not 'resize" too small for the PIP.....lets see.

I've been following this one.Used to be on Craigslist/Detroit awhile ago by owner. Now at a dealer. Why no back-up lamps in license plate area. Thought this was a Mera must? Also, one of the pics showing undercarriage /suspension area looks like there is s crack in the frame/unibody. might just be an illusion. No gas prop rod for trunk, Hmmm. Otherwise, a Nice one
so not all Mera came with the Ford back ups.....I believe Mera X was a "Carrello car" and the PO took my Yellow/white Carrellos and put them on his 3800 swapped Mera #8008. I have witness marks on his car and have red Carrellos on Mera X now. but the sales video shows non back up light Mera being loaded up for sale. the Fords were used as a base model the F*car Carellos are considered an "upgrade" so fun talking history again

I was going through some of my very old stock and discovered that I have several pieces of the GTS badge. I have no idea as to where they came from and they are not the prettiest badges in the world, but should be restorable. If any Mera owner wants one, you can have it for the cost of postage. These items were discovered with some old V6 2.8 L badging which is also free for the cost of postage.
This is my first post in this thread. I am currently doing a refresh and restore of 1988 Mera 8031. It is based on a Formula with gray cloth, automatic, power windows, and no other options. The car belonged to a very close friends mother for 10 years. She recently passed and the car had been sitting outside in San Jose for 2 years as they were taking care of her and she was no longer driving.
I am doing some interior modifications but I am retaining every original part and using seat cores to recover in order to save the cars perfect original Formula seats so I will be able to put the car back to bone stock in one weekend if I choose to.
I just finished some paint work today and I think she is finally starting to look decent. I look forward to enjoying the car once I finish.
I repainted the top of the rear clip pictured here.
And here is 8031.
Anyone wanting to follow my progress can do so here.
Thank you, everyone, for sharing all your cars and the endless sources of information. I have read every post in this thread 2 or 3 times and drooled over all of your awesome cars!

Well, I finally stayed home long enough to finish up a minor project. I just completed restoration of my last set of original MERA rear deck lid letters. They are not perfect but they do not look bad. This is the fourth set that I have finished and all were decent to good after the work was completed. Note that the E does not photograph well since there is so much black showing.

Dick Mera #8046 (Miss January, Mile High Fieros 2014 calendar) 1987 GT T-boned (RIP) 1988 GT T-Top (The Fiero Store Calendar: Miss February 2012) 1987 McBurnie Daytona Spyder
Was at a show this past weekend, saw a 2 tone Mera. Didn't think they made them. Asked to see trunk lid code sticker, sure enough there it was on the paint code. How rare is this? It was also for sale. Hope pics come through, don't do this very often.

Pictures did not come through for me but likely one of the resident PFF photo experts can fix that. I have never seen a two tome Mera before and would really like to see the photos. Did the Mera build sticker really show two colors with the paint codes and what was his asking price?
