I happened to see that the 88 Mera recently posted on eBay for $12000 did not receive any bids, The reposted asking/starting price is now $9500, It needs some work but could be a decent car if you are willing to put some money and effort into it.
Dick Mera #8046 (Miss January, Mile High Fieros 2014 calendar) 1987 GT T-boned (RIP) 1988 GT T-Top (The Fiero Store Calendar: Miss February 2012) 1987 McBurnie Daytona Spyder
The eBay listing showed a photo of a trunk label indicating Mera #8094 / Fiero # 1G2PE1197JP213513 and CC applied Dupont paint L 8537 Gray. The script style and VIN number seem reasonable at first blush.
With one hour to go last night, no bids had been received. I sent the owner an email yesterday telling him to contact me for an offer if he did not sell the vehicle at auction. No response so far but there are a number of items that need correcting on the car and that drives the price down further in my opinion.
It looks as someone bit during the last few minutes and it apparently went at $9500. I still think that is high due to the lack of power mirrors/controller, improper wheels, F car badging, rough interior, etc. Someone has a lot of work to do to make this car decent!

Here is an obscure technical question about Meras. In 1988 only a few GT platforms (about six) were used for the Mera conversion. The rest were done using either a SE or Formula vehicle. I have a non GT 88 Mera with a bad trunk lock cylinder and need to get a new one. Does anyone know for certain what cylinder was used for this application? I would prefer not to purchase multiple lock cylinders and see which one fits, but will do so if necessary.
so today is the day.....I give you the Mera sales video. enjoy the statute of limitations ended....and its now or never, eh?? lets see how many views we can get

Hey Nelson,
I'm the someone that bit on Mera #8094. Great transaction with seller. Cant say enough. Extra parts. lots of info. maybe a line on the original wheels - longshot there
Flew to Vicksburg & drove it 1,000 miles home - nothing but smooth running, fun, & smiles (a/c quit, surprised it worked to begin with - orifice tube plugged up)
M-E-R-A letters in ziplock bag found in passenger door pocket.
The Red repaint is awful! but, I knew that before bidding - The plan is to return it to the original dark grey metallic with Mera trim & no more Fcar badges. ( need some Mera badges if anyone still has extra for sale, prefer silver/black )
Vitaloni mirrors intact but rough shape. I will investigate more when I have time. 2-way Vitaloni controller & wiring intact. Barrel trim nut missing - Switch assembly fell into center console.
For wheels I'm leaning towards:
Any suggestions for custom sizing/offset/and stagger that you found perform the best with your small posse of Meras?

PM sent. BTW, this is what a Mera looks like with a dark gray/gunmetal paint job.

I hope you have as much fun with the 3800 swap as I do with mine. I had mine in a car show last Sunday and a I met a Ferrari mechanic that knew the MERA story and really liked my car. He wants me to stop by his shop sometime so he can show it to his boss. They are Black Horse Motorwerks in Kansas City.
Heres a couple of shots from the sales vid.

Dan, a few years ago I found a Fiero ad on YouTube about a guy hitting on a neighbor's girl and driving off with her with her in his GT. I looked for the video recently and it had been taken down--probably a copyright thing. Do you know the one I'm referring to, and do you, or anyone, have a downloaded copy?

I have one of Rodneys Euro front bumpers on my Mera and really like the way the front looks with the closer fit to the body. The only problem is now the back bumper sticks out way to far.
I am in the process of fixing that, I cut 2" off the front edge of the bumper and plan on moving it forward another 1/2" when I modify the mounts. That should tuck it in about like the 308 Euro spec rear bumpers fit. So far it is going good, I have my fingers crossed that it will look OK when it is finished.
I will post pics in a day or so.
The bumper project is on hold for now, one of the lower bumper mount rivnuts is spinning and its behind the frame rail. The bumper is on the car and no way to get to it.
It's time to sit back, relax and figure out what to do next.

Rexgirl - thanks for the tip on the 3SDM 05 wheels. hnthomps - thanks for tire size info you run on your Meras
Because of your help, I was able to figure out what was needed to get the results below. Offset & sizes look great. The wheels are perfect for a Mera too.
Wheels - 3SDM model 0.05, 16x8", 5x100 bolt pattern, 10mm ET (offset) Tires - BFG Sport Comp2, 225/50 front, 255/50 rear
I am no official Mera registry but have been collecting Mera build numbers / VINs since 1995 with over a hundred identified and this car shows no "build number" and the VIN is not coming up?? Could be one I am missing but I'm scratching my head on this one. Anyone verified this car?

Car was the Chevrolet Nationals (Carlisle) and placed 1st in the FIERO re-body class. Yes it has a MERA ID tag. I know the owner, he is traveling and should be back next weekend. I'll see if he want's to provide the information.

Thanks, the the Mera Number would be appreciated and had the owner included the number in the eBay listing it would have been the proof that could have brought higher bids.
uhhhhhh...........yup!!!! we had the big rolling car show today in GrandRapids and this fella needed a spot to park. REALLY?? I LOVE LAMBOS!!!! wow!
Hey Dan. I was great seeing you again. I forgot to take pictures of the Fieros today. And I think I called you John several times. Sorry Dan. It was a fun day. I have a picture of another car that showed up with the Lambo.

And just down the street

Congrats on getting your Mera back home, they look good together.
How does it run with the 3800 compared to the 2.8?
How about some pics of the eng compartment so we can see what makes you smile when you push the loud pedal.
thank you.....its been years in the works! well I will see what I can do for videos of both cars. this is the 2nd 3800 I have had in the Mera cuz I drive like an animal. but to add 100+ HP to the Fiero is a GREAT IDEA.....even to the Lambo dudes!!! when I left I stomped on it thru the lot and I know they were all impressed! super fun day it was yesterday!!

I have been in contact with the owner of the Mera previously listed on eBay. He did provide the Mera build number (8093) as well general information on his reserve price (high !!). At this moment he does not plan to relist it on eBay but is negotiating with some potential buyers.
Very nice, what are you running for exhaust, would like to see a vid of it running.
All Meras are good but I really like the 3800 swap cars, they live up to their looks.

Thanks for the update Nelson, already had 8093 in my database, would help if I had entered the VIN in the VIN column! Must have been one of those senior moments . . . . . . . With all Meras I see on eBay, I download the eBay file into the car folder. 8093 has been on eBay before and there was a picture of the ID number label back then. This go around on eBay no picture of ID label and the description was simple “Rare Factory Mera model. One of 247 made. Factory T-Tops. Pisa Euro dash. 308 replica. Excellent condition.” Again thank you for the info!
