OBTW, I use the Coverking Silverguard for the 308--only one that stands up to the AZ sun. A little snug across the square Vitalone mirrors otherwise a great fit. There are two models, one with a soft lining.

Hard to tell from the limited info and photos and no mention of a Mera build number. However, look at the tailpipe arrangement. Unless a section has been removed, not a original Mera design feature. I have asked for more photos and may have more comments later.
Also I found a company that can make a MERA nose badge, they use clear UV rated mirror acrylic. I should have it in a couple of weeks and will post a picture as soon it shows up. Their stuff looks really nice and the owner is very good to work with.

Just remember that the 87 and 88 nose badges are different. I know I have an original 87 and may also have an 88 somewhere in my parts stash if you need to compare the reproduction to the original.
BTW, the mirrors on this car do not look original and the mount is quite different from the stock Vitaloni power mirrors.

The badges I had Emblempros make showed up today, they do nice work. The Pegasus is mirror polish 20ga stainless on an acrylic plastic backer, I think it will look good on the left side of the tail light panel. My Mera already has many changes so a couple more will be OK.

I am putting my Mera back together after paint and need some advice.
The engine cover louvers on my Mera are anodized black and I think they would look better painted satin black. Has anyone painted theirs, what did you use and how has it held up.
Also on my Mera the body side groove is bare, did they have any trim in the groove? I am thinking about putting body side molding in the groove, has anyone done this? Protekto Trim makes a 5/8" matte black European style that looks like it should fit in the groove. Thanks Larry

Larry,
None of my cars (87 or 88) have molding in the groove other than at the turn signal side lights. Do whatever you like with the car but I prefer to paint my groves. WRT the engine louvers, I have at least one set that was painted black when I got the car. They looked OK but I personally prefer anodized louvers. At least one louver set is polished aluminum with a clear coat and that looks good on a gunmetal grey vehicle IMHO.

Has anyone reproduced the transom lettering?

Do you mean the rear deck lid lettering (MERA)? If so, John has reproduced a set via mold. I have a couple of restored original sets and enough original NOS GM letter sets used to initially make MERA letters so I could produce at least one more new MERA letter set.

Sorry, Nelson, I wasn't clear, I meant the "2.8 FI, GTS."
John, read your post, thanks,

John, read your post, thanks,
I know that there was a 2.8 L V6 emblem because I had some, but do not remember the GTS being on any of my vehicles. I have seen a couple of F car replicas with GTB but that is all I remember.
Way back in these "Paradise" pages, someone (Dan?) mentioned which vehicles were the source for the "2.8v6" and "GTS" emblems. Best recollection is that the "2.8" came from a period Chevy S-10 and the "GTS" was from an Dodge (LeBarron?). Both my emblems are off the car should you need a picture or other help in reproducing them. Since Nelson's cars were not fitted with the GTS badge, maybe not all Meras left the factory with them?
I had a number of 2.8 L V6 emblems in chrome but believe that I either sold or gave them away. I can post a photo of them if anyone is interested and may have a set or so somewhere in my parts storage area. If you would like a red letter set, try: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2-...a:g:JdIAAOSwq~tZR-vf

I do not specifically know this car but it is nice looking. However, the mods are considerable and there is a bit of deviation from stock wrt power mirrors and switch, front bumper, F car markings, combined amber and clear backup lights, removal of the stock backup lights, etc. The interior is nice but some of the leather color and "wood" paneling is not to my personal preference. All of these items drop the value for me, but I am more of a purist than most.
I think that he likely has a reserve in the $20 k range but he may not get it. The prototype sold for less as did both of the 1988 Bob Bracy Meras (Bob's had a N* engine swap and his wife's vehicle was a white auto transmission car with both Recarro and stock seats plus a spare set of stock diamond pattern wheels).
I hope that he gets what he wants for the car because that might make mine worth more on the open market.

The Mera currently on Ebay is 8008 which belonged to Jim Lund of www.fiero.net fame. I have some pictures of this car when Jim was installing the 3800 SC in my 8008 folder. The seller has two Mera's, 8008 is a very good car BUT the seller's black Mera was Bob Bracey's personal 1988! If I had the money I think the seller would sell. Also Jim Lund may still have 8008's original engine so the new owner could have all matching numbers. I know he had setup the wiring harness so it could be converted back to the 2.8L. Also 8008 used to be an automatic converted to standard by Lund!

A little note on the two Bob Braecy owned and personally used Meras.
I corresponded with the former owner somewhere around 2007 about purchasing the black car (with installed N*). IIRC he used the name of Funny Wheels on Kit Car Forum and was in the NJ/NY area. I was supposed to be able to purchase the car for a set price, but I was out of the country in the Middle East when he finally decided to sell it so I missed out. He also had a Testarosa replica on a Fiero chassis IIRC but I do not know what happened to that car.
I also had an opportunity to purchase the white 88 Mera that his wife drove (documentation provided to me) when I lived in Atlanta. It was about 25 miles away in Covington, GA at the time. I looked at the car and noted that it had a stock V6 and automatic transmission, Recarro seats embroidered with the Mera build number were installed and the original grey Fiero cloth seats were also included, along with two sets of wheels (Chromadora as well as standard diamond pattern wheels). The vehicle looked nice but I did not like the idea of paying $15 k for an AT vehicle, so I let it pass. I did purchase the set of stock wheels for some reason and let them set in my basement for several years prior to giving them away (less the center caps which I still have).

Dan,
You are correct and the owner's name is Heath. I had some contact with him a few years back but had not heard anything from or about him recently. IIRC, I believe that he tried to sell me your car, but I had some reservations and declined.

Funny, I ran into the guy on the street here in Phoenix. He waved me over while I was driving #8086 and we chatted awhile. I think his mother lives here.

It looks as if Heath's red 88 Mera topped out at $15,800 on eBay (did not meet the auction reserve price). He did mention to me that he had an earlier offer (but did not say when) that was in the low $20k range but did not take it.
Love the rear bumper back on Mera X, Dan. Looks like the passenger door mirror lost it's sticky, tho..
its a long time coming. I took off the mirror while it was getting worked on. I always take both off when it leaves my sight hope Rex is still running strong!

Yes, an enviable stable of sports cars. Wondering by your words if Black Dynamite or Mera X been away at the doctors?
yup.....and X is on the wounded list, again!!! booooo!!! lost both belts while just wandering around slow on a Sunday after doing Laundry....putzin around then all I sudden I hear sheer hell like a piston explode!!! get to the side of the road and see NO supercharger belt....relief was an understatement!!! oh well easy fix and gives me time to run the V8 locally. just gave it a bath and a warning to those that think I am easy game to beat!!
Good idea placing the new logo on the tail where people can see it as you fade into the distance. Really so glad X is okay! Rex says "hi" to his older brother.
The red 88 Mera with a 3800 SC engine, t-tops, Chromadoras, and five speed transmission that was on eBay recently sold the second time around for around $16,200. It was a pretty decent looking car and had most of the Mera options.
This is the third time it's been listed on ebay since May 7th. It says it sold twice already, once for $15999, once for $16999 and now it's listed at buy for $19775 or make offer.
Any help would be appreciated, including what should I consider in whether or not to buy a kit or a mera and maybe how much to offer for this one.

Or, buy it here and save. Still a lot of money since it is a kit, no matter what one might like to claim that it is kinda, sorta, a Mera. Been on Craigs several times if I recall correctly.
