The paint looks very different in the video. The lower portion is much lighter in the video. The car is often in "shadow" from trees and the position of the sun. The car looks very nice. When will it be for sale?
Our shop guys just completed the headlight kits and list of small issues I had so it’s ready for sale. I’m writing the story and putting the video ad/mini history piece together this week. I hope to have it running by next Friday. I’ve had so much fun collecting the history of this car. It has so much MERA pedigree. I spoke yesterday to the original owner/designer and the MERA stories just flow out of him.
A couple of links to our sales video for the 7020. The first is a youtube link and teh second a link to our Facebook page. I hope the next owner enjoys this car as much as I have enjoyed tracing it's history.
Just thought I'd drop this in for the MERA group with the 'Rodney bumper" and 308 (kit) crowd. I just did the conversion to LED's for turn and tail lights and updated my front turn/running light lenses to clear lenses as were available on European models. A special thanks to EVM Rob as he made these to order. I did spray a UV clear protectant on the lenses as I did with the all amber lenses I purchased from him a few years back. (A LED flasher was necessary to make the lights function)
With the clear lenses and yellow LED's I think the front end is nicely updated.
Sunday 10/11 MERA 8029 at the Lake Garnett Grand Prix Revival track event in Garnett Kansas. It's an annual event in Garnett Kansas at the track where national SCCA races were held in the 60's and 70's. Lots of fun, two 20 minute track sessions, and lots of great cars to see.
The MERA showed what it's made of. The Spitfire was in front off the grid, I passed it on the first lap and never saw another car until I caught the last runner.
I am considering purchasing one, that is why I was asking for what they are currently selling for. Anyone else purchase one recently? Thanks for the info.
I have not purchased one recently, but a stock Mera should run anywhere from $10K to $16K depending on paint, interior, engine condition (auto or stick), etc. I have at least one project car (needs paint and interior reinstalled) with a fuel injected 383 engine and a Getrag 282. I would not take less than $16K for it but am not in a position where a sale would be forced in nature. I think that you could get a decent stock Mera for around $10K - $12K if you look long enough and do not include any transport fee from the current owner to you.
Just in case you haven't seen the sales video for the 7020 here is the link. Did you know the first MERA concept was a Testarossa? It never made it past paper but was highly considered. The popularity of Magnum PI clinched the idea using the 308 as the cars major design influence. Would anyone else besides me have interest in a book that told the story of unique cars in history? Maybe there are several already in existence but researching our MERA has given me a thirst to learn about more stories like the MERA. Oh, by the way, the Testarossa idea didn't go away. One of the MERA engineers helped design a Testarossa rebody for a Ford Probe just a few years later.
FRUSTRATING! I posted this already, and then it disappeared?
Here it goes again: I just added a new Mera to my stable #7029. Which you may recognize as "Rex". Who belonged to Jess AKA Rex Girl from this forum. Awhile back I ran a post called "looking for my last ride." I had owned another Mera # 8002 but had to sell it because of pending double lung transplant surgery and a so-so chance of survival. Jess was kind enough to offer me her beloved "Rex." But the adventure that would take us through I don't think we were prepared for! We started talking in May, and the car was delivered in Wisconsin, from Oregon in early October! It was surrounded by wildfires at one point, and transporters were in short supply. Yet Jess refused to leave Rex. Well, by throwing enough money at one transporter I was able to get Mera #7029 here to Wisconsin, filthy, but here. What I want to say here is that Jess was a "rock" through the entire thing, and in my opinion a truly classy lady. Rex is above and beyond my expectations and shows the care and love Jess gave the car during her 9 years of ownership. t even came with boxes of extra parts and so much documentation and reference materials that it had to be put on a thumb drive, even the pink slip! I am honored to be Rex's next custodian, for ever long the good Lord allows me. As I am adding my own personal "adornments" to Rex you will be seeing us both here now and then. Again, a shout out to Jess for her help in making this "last ride" happen. As if there wasn't enough "drama" to this story… after only driving Rex for three days…I fell and broke my left shoulder! So, no more driving Rex (a 5 speed) for at least 10 weeks, or just in time to put him in storage! Isn't life a trip?
P.S. Anyone know where I can get a set of this fitted floor mats with that prancing pony on them?
Jess’s car is beauty! Take all the fake Ferrari stuff of of it and make it a proud MERA!!!!!!!!!
What he said. Mine had Fcar badging when I got it. The first thing I did was rebadge it to a MERA, but I did put a Pegasus emblem where Ferrari has their prancing pony. Ferrari made many more 308/328 cars, somewhere around 12,000 from what I car find. Corporate Concepts made only 247 MERAs if you go by Wikipedia or 238 according to a copy of a letter from Bob Bracey, of which 39 were sent to Japan. Another plus with the MERA badging is it's way more fun to tell the story of a factory rebody that was sold through the Pontiac dealers than explain a pretend 308.

I'm still looking for a MERA here in NJ. Interesting to note, as soon as you say "you're looking"....the price doubles. seriously depressing......... Looking to pay FAIR value, cash in hand. No projects. completed engine swap OK if done well......full on Ferrari treatment, maybe. I'd rather the MERA be a MERA frankly.

I would be interested in learning what you consider to be a "Fair Value" for a Mera. I will be happy to discuss this via email or PM if you don not want the discussion to be public. I happen to own four Meras at this moment and my price for them has not changed significantly in the last five plus years. BTW, none of my cars have F car emblems attache so we are in agreement on that concept.
I'm thinking an original, good condition MERA, no mods. 12k? One needing "some work"...8-12K. Nice engine swap upwards 15K above that.....really special cars..... I'm not in that last group

We've owned several Fiero's but just this one MERA and I would agree with your thoughts on pricing. We have ours priced at $16500 as we feel it has enough story and uniqueness to command it. They definitely aren't making any more of them. I have loved the conversations I've had with potential buyers and gawkers alike. The Fiero community is filled with passionate people and there truly is a Fiero for everyone's budget.
I'm in talks with a MERA owner, discussing options and pricing. More details to follow! wish me luck.... All out search "suspended" until further notice!
On the 88s with Chromadora's; were they staggered sizes as the stock GT wheels were? Found my answer; all were 15x7s
What were the stock tire sizes on the MERA? Found my answer: 245-50-15 F, 265-50-15 R Yes??????
I concur wrt the correct OEM tire size. Let me know if you find any 245 x 50 x 15 tires for the front since I have been looking for quite a while. You can run the 265 x 50 x 15 tires on the front but may rub the inner fender when sharply turning at low speeds.

Just make certain that it is an actual Mera before finalizing the sale. I have seen a lot of vehicles advertised as Meras that were kit cars of some type.
Being that 245-50-15 are basically unobtainable..... what is the preferred available sizing with a matched rear for the 88 MERAs I looked back, and can't find any recommendations as to tire sizing on the stock MERA rims.
Point 2: may be easier just to buy upgraded rims and tires?? what's available out there in 16s or 17? TIres? RIMS? please no $400 each rims.....I can't afford that!
Thanks!

As previously stated you can run the 265 x 50 x 15 tires on all four corners o a Mera and I currently am doing that on two 88 Meras. However, these cars use the optional Chromadora rims and I cannot be certain how it would work on the stock lace type rims. The Chromadora rims are very difficult to locate and quite expensive when you do find them ($300 to $400 or more per rim [no tires]). The last set I saw on eBay was a few years back and the set price was $2000.
Your best bet might be to try some 60 series tires on a 15" or 16" rim to see what happens.
last and almost ONLY car show of 2020. first week of Nov.... even got a vid made. i did not know dude was filming. I just babbled on and on and on about the car starts about 19:50 thru to the end, but there is tons of sweet cars in this vid so ya may as well grab a drink and sit back https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zM5L47pSNxk
as to the tire thing.... my car came with Center Line Alum one piece wheels with a lug nut cover. 15" front 16" back i love the Hot Rod stance it already has then the 16/15 rims are another optical that makes is look mean. soo happy with this years performance and even did 5 jobs my self..... New Champion 3 Core Radiator, Tranny Filter, Alternator, spark plug wire repair and the one belt kept falling off on start. ended up having to shave a bit off the Alt. for a square alignment.... totally engineered it my self now i want a cam and innercooler and with that comes bigger Injectors. i a going to race Lambos and Ferraris next year. i have made a few friends since i have been gone

Had someone contact me regarding the sale of 5 Fittapaldi rims - the style/size used on the last batch of MERAs from what he said. Anyone have an idea of a fair price for them?

Well my 900 mile road trip is complete. MERA #8118 is now in my garage! Its been sitting for ~ 3yrs.....so its going to need a little lovin. headlight motors quit, ebrake lever stuck.....a little cleaning a maint to do. Build notes: Still all MERA badged. Miller-Woods Turbo 2.8, front lowering spindles, cut rear spring., steering damper, hi-wing (like on the old Supra's) added by corp. concepts , Leather seats, the rest of the interior is stock Fiero. T-Top, 5 spd!! Yahoo!
Truth be told...I was hoping for a little more "road ready"....but this will have to do!

I didn't get to clean it up...I managed to get it onto the storage lift. In NJ, the DMV is on appt. only, the earliest I can get the title changed over is 1/23/21! darn Covid!
More info on the build: 5 spd, CJB T-tops, stock stereo, 1" lowering spindles up front, rear springs cut 1". Rodney's steering damper. F-215-60-15, R-265-50-15 with 1" wheel spacers. Woods Miller stage 1 Turbo kit prof. installed. Special wing (supposedly built by Corp. Concepts), I'm the 3rd owner. Immediate plans: rebuild both headlight motors, full fluids change, new tires (these are from 2001 according to DOT code!). .....and change the steering wheel. This Formula wheel looks awful IMHO. and a modern stereo upgrade and speakers.

before I run out to get finger extension surgery in order to open my driver's door. Is there any adjustment that can be made to make it less of stretch to lift the outer door latch? its seriously not easy.
options?
UPDATE on the wing. I spoke to the original owner (Robert Pursley); he said that he had the wing installed after he bought it. Not sure.

That Mera build sticker looks different than any I have ever seen previously. Maybe it is a reproduction if the original one was damaged.
Thats the turbo to intake pipe. Now MICE....I hate mice. #8118 was said to be kept in pristine condition. Sure...she looks great, but lets start getting it road ready. It only covered roughly 4K miles in 14 years.
Pull the headlights to fix the gears. Rebuild kits from Rodney on the way. I pulled the resistor and blower to have a look.......oh.....my oh my......where these mice get the pink stuff? garage insulations? the is even some visible in the bottom door edges. Mice living in the doors too?
I guess I gotta pull door panels now too. sheesh.. are the outers hard to pull? or should I just pull the inners?
I choose to only pull the inner panels to remove almost 20 years of San Diego detritus from my Mera's doors. I imagine the good news is that fiberglass insulation in your heater fan's resistors is a lot less flammable than leaves

Nelson
Yes Nelson, that does appear to be different than a factory sticker. Dan did a great job in presenting a representative collection of Mera ID labels in his post here: https://www.fiero.nl/forum/F...77195-160.html#p6369
