The sills on my 1987 MERA were painted a GM black (similar to what was applied to the inner door frame) although the donor Fiero color was a metallic red. The picture below is the best I have.
I still learning about my MERA and what should be there, and what has been added or modified.
1) I have polished SS plates on my door sills. Now I know they were added by the orig. owner. 2) The exhaust muffler on my car...seem to be original. But they hand lower, so the tail pipes have been modified. I THINK that was done when IRM installed the MIller-Woods Turbo kit. I'm assuming the exhaust was lowered to clear the turbocharger, requiring the mod. SO...If I bought rodney's pipes, I'd have to modify them as well!
3) Still wondering, what the rear lower valance finish was: smooth or texture? semi gloss? flat? black?

!
What Rodney sells are the Mera equivalent of parts 1 and 10 on the exhaust system diagram. They need to be specially shaped to fit through the Mera bumper. I am not very familiar with the Miller Woods turbo setup, but do know that my 3.4 push rod turbo Mera (1987) did not have any exhaust system mods around the muffler area. This is what the engine side of my turbo setup looks.

Also swapped out chrome lugs for black Mcgards. If you do this, seap out the lug wrench as mcgards are smaller than the stock lug nuts!
Also: under the MERA stickers of the stock ones were MERA and Fiero transfers. I guess 87-88 centers of stock Fiero and MERA wheels are the same

If you are speaking of the stock wheels on a Mera you are correct. The Chromadoras were an option in 1988 and the small center cap is slightly different than the stock diamond pattern wheel. If you are in a hurry, silicone will keep the small stock centers locked in place for quite a while.
I still in the process of getting 8118 road ready. All new calipers and hoses are installed finally.
Now; on to the issue of fixing the little chips with touch up paint. I'm using the Dr. Colorchip system. seems to work very nicely. much better than the standard touch up bottles. Its a little tedious, but the results are much better.
Anyway: due to the fender shape and the wide tires up front; both sides have a lot of nicks / chips. I want to add splash guards of some time. maybe black plastic, small as possible? Anyone have splash guards on a MERA?
Splash guards were never an Mera option and I don't remember ever seeing any owner-created versions fitted. Of course, you certainly could do that.
If you have a source for new GM aluminum calipers, that are unique and typically only available used or rebuilt for the 1988 Fiero, you might want to post that information over in "Technical Discussion and Questions" .
Roger that : no option. But the sandblasting of the side yielding a white dot at point of impact isn’t the most attractive! Once I correct the paint, I want to prevent further chips. I guess I’ll fab some up.
No new calipers, rebuilt ones. Fiero store had front readily available and a right rear. I had to buy a core for the LR and have it rebuilt. So: all 4 are rebuilt. Hoses new. Steel outer halves were all powder coated silver. Should hold up better than grey paint.
Picked up some cheap repop centers and Ukrainian made silicone center sticker. This is my back up set. I have my originals with Rodney repop stickers. Rodney ones are a 10/10. My backups? 8/10. Just another option out there
I have a set of original Mera center caps designed for the standard lace type wheel. They apparently were clear with black circle and MERA. The one on the right is an original and Rodney's reproduction center (silver/black) is on the left.
When I peeled off the degraded “MERA” silicone stickers from my 88 Chromadora centers; there were a couple “Fiero” logo and MERA logo. Both black vinyl on brushed aluminum. So I’d say the stock Fiero wheel and Chromadora used the same cap.
I bought the Dickman center stickers which I put in the original center caps. My Spare set is the plastic centers with “foreign” sourced stickers.

My stock center caps would not stay on the Chromadora wheels until I used some silicone as glue. If they were the same size, I would not have had this issue. There is a slight difference in size or my three sets of Chromadoras are manufactured incorrectly or have been modified.
On a stock Mera Rodneys tailpipes connect to the factory muffler pipes which are higher than the muffler pipes on your Mera.
A friend bought a low mile 88 Mera and the door sills were painted body color, they look kinda plain that way. Mine were body color also when I got it. I put a set of brushed stainless I got from Vince at Snapperheads when he was still making Fiero parts. I put MERA vinyl letters on them and I think it gives a more finished look.
Thank you, the seats are MrMikes, he does amazing work, I did the install The dash and door panels are the Pisa Euro kits, they were covered by Vintage Fabrication. They are a local shop in the Kansas City area, they build really awesome cars. They did my exhaust also.
BUUUUUUUMMMMMMP!!! damn...... way back to March, even?? all you tri-state Fiero Owners..... Saturday August 28th, 2021 bring your Fiero to the Metro 28 Cruise in Grand Rapids Michigan!! TIME TO DOMINATE!!

Just spent over an hour looking back at posts that I missed in the last 3 years. Quick update for those who remember me. Everything is going great. Well it took 3 years to get divorced but now all is good. I posted a while back for information as to what my Mera would be worth. No I wasn't selling, I just had to get a real world value for my separation agreement. And yes I kept Mera8071.
Recently met a wonderful young lady with a 4 car garage. (Had to throw in that caveat).
Since we been dealing with this pandemic, we have not taken the Mera out much. Next week I will be installing the original split exhaust tips.... finally. I still need to replace the pins and bushings in my doors and probably service the A/C since it's just not as cold as it use to be.
Someone asked for me to post a pic of my raised white letter tires so I will post that next. I hear another yellow Mera resides here in Canada. I'm sure there's room for the two of us...LOL
I see many new faces and I just love the pictures I keep seeing in here.
Here are two pictures....before the raised white letters and after. I also removed my center caps.
I had the car on a dyno that morning of the second pic and I see all the dirt on the rear tire sidewall..... weird how I just noticed. grrrr
Also note that the original Mera came with Good Year Gatorback tires 265-50VR-15 rear and 245-50VR-15 front. I went with 255-60-15 BF Goodrich raised white letters all around so it not only fills the wheel wells much better with the 60 series but it makes life easy when it comes to rotating tires.

Just removing the center caps made a world of difference in the appearance. Beautiful.
I concur!. The large plastic center cap does not look good (IMO) on any of the 88 Meras and I have removed them from all of my 88 cars. The tabs on these center caps are also brittle and I have previously lost caps while on the road.
I am restoring an 88 MERA, and am looking for a set of door toppers to complete my beechwood interior swap. Hoping some other MERA owners might have an idea or two!
i had the same issue and asked this same question on several different forums / sites. at the end NO LUCK. i had to custom make my own using the my MERA originals as the test piece. luckily i already had a set. i needed to make a new one for my kit car. Sorry i know this isnt much help. you can also ask on the facebook mera group

Which was my question. How difficult are they to reproduce if I could borrow originals? I wouldn't mind taking on the challenge if these are highly sought after parts.
Hello all. I have a question for you all. Kinda been thinking about getting a Mera. What is the overall length of the Mera? Front bumper to rear bumper? I am wondering if a Mera will fit in the new dinky garages. LOL Yes a 88 coupe and an 87 GT have been parked in the garage with out a problem, but isn't a Mera just a little longer? Thanks! I live in Grand Rapids, MI, and some of the houses they were building 20 years ago have small 2 stall garages. LOL
Im probably going to make my own. I have to get the car painted first, and that wont be until spring. Does anyone have a copy of the Corporate Concept sheet from 1987 and 1988 that listed what was included in each conversion that you could PM to me so I can make a paper copy instead of trying to zoom in on the ones posted?
So I have been on and off the forum since around 2008 when I bought my first and I'm not really big on posting much, however, I wanted to introduce my self on this thread since Nelson actually sold me a MERA from his collection. I am the proud new owner of #8095 and it now resides in my barn in Marion NY. Currently the car is awaiting paint and I have to reinstall the interior, but I extremely excited since I have wanted MERA forever!!!!!
Congratulations Dave :-) Will you be keeping the Green paint? You might also want to update your owners information on JR's Mera list: https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/099427.html Mera's are amazing and I miss mine a lot!
