yeah i know. thanks for the slap.
it's just that, a Mera really is a #. 7071 for instance. without the number i feel like an orphan.
plus i cant use "Mera" as selling point without that #. and it is a piece of mind (and license plate) thing for me.
granted if the lack of sticker is a sign on an early Mera but i dont know the #. bummer. no one does. real bummer.
theres some fishy in the CarFax also. only 2 entries. most carfax i see have a yearly run down of all renewals and title issue info. for 10yrs only. i know thats all they keep, but on Ebay even newer, one previous owner cars have a carfax as long as my arm..
mine has two 1998 -MI then nothing till 10/9/2008 FL, my seller. i know that it was untitled in FL for a while. but that makes it look like it has been off the radar for 10 years. this has been buggin me awhile.
then i found this. around the time frame in question 2006-2007

wonder if my key would fit that door lock. speaking of which, i have two different door keys.
1 for the rear deck and one for the doors. not good, right??. anybody else?? 2 sets of door keys. i cant see the rear deck for a lock in these pics but........ASSUMING..STOP!
i'll quit. but i think this is an important point.
i am crawling inside my panels today to see if this may be MeraX afterall. i have had these pics for 8-9 months now and its the only
loose body i know of cept the one in Hawaii. ole RUSTY. so its not done yet. my quest. at least i stay home more on the computer looking for it instead of blazing up the roads.....collecting speeding tix.

Dan,

It's the pursuit, not the conquest! When you find the truth, it will be a disappointment whatever you find--either it's not a Mera, or it is and your fun search will be over. So, my advice is to find a crashed out '87 and buy it, swap deck lids and voila! You will certainly avoid any counter claims.

Hey, I'm convinced mine is a Mera, but I also know that the sticker is not original--it has a 1997 paint code! OTOH, maybe I have the only 1997 Mera in existence.

There are probably a lot of us here who are silently hoping you never find out, cuz it would probably end all your interesting postings.

i'es got dirty yesterday
ok the top pic is inner FT driversside fender notice side marker lights and top of wheel well.
2nd pic is lights better. i am lookin at the part where light touches panel.
these are blind shots through a hole between the front parking lights and the alum. plate block outs.
my camera is old so its long and thin...handy.

see the black primer threw me off...but i think thats yellow under there! soo good. we do not like the white 'glass!!
and it looks like more than 10 years of rust on them threads, no?

anyway, Richard. i highly doubt after my current quest has ended, i will disappear..in fact that will just afford me a NEW quest, simillar to Toms. Total Mera Restoration! with a dash of SPEED!

if i had a job. Mikes, Mera 7071 WOULD BE MINE, after the swap (LS anything) then, Mera X would be the stock show car and 7071
would be sunny day driver to the track.....you get the point, then back to ya'll for the daily update.
so much the oppsite...more happier. oh well......someday!

i totally feel my Mera panels as OEM, now its the Fiero (car) part in the sights!

Dan

oh yeah......Morning Lads..

Here is a Mera technical question.

My right turn signal quit flashing (just stays on), yet it flashes when the flasher button is on. Left signal works fine either way.

How do I fix this?

I'm here!! Just got back from Korea...was pretty far down south where hardly anyone speaks any English. Killed off another billion or so brain cells on soju and Hite beer... Didn't see any Fieros there.

Nice pics Dan. You know what would be cool...someone gather up pics from Mera owners and produce a dedicated Mera calendar, although It would probably be overly expensive. But would be cool..

There is a 1995 1st Mera reunion President's Award on e-bay! Just type in "Fiero Mera" in the e-bay search. Interesting item...perhaps Rodney could provide some background info on it, and the reunion itself.

As for the blinker problem, if your interior blinker light stays lit and its only on one side, then its pretty sure either your front or rear bulb is burned out. If both sides did not blink, then its usually the signal flasher...not to be confused with the e-flasher. For all my Fieros and my Mera, I replaced the thermal flasher with an electronic flasher (available at Checker auto). I like it since it makes a louder ticking noise, and the flashing seems to be faster than the thermal unit.

Later!

Later!
Tom

Hi Tom, Glad to hear you got back more or less intact.

Well it is the right rear bulb that does not flash using the turn signal. However it does flash with the flasher button pressed. That eliminates a bad bulb, doesn't it? Is the electronic flasher a direct replacement for the thermal one? Where is the the turn signal flasher located?

we're making a calendar so post them heffer pics....and prairie doggies in the Mera. on top of the Mera. anywhere. make a statement about where you live. city, state, and incorporate a season and or theme. i already have a ton of Mera pics i have collected, all of your cars (the pics you scrouges allow) and others i and mainly RICHARD, have found . so i have more than enough pics to cover the Months. maybe link the Month pic with menbers (you guys) birthdays. like me and others in Feb. a Mera Birthday collage...both people and Mera birthdays. reflected in the calender.

or

i was going to make one for myself out of the seasonal pics i have taken so far of X. i just need some summer pictures at Lake MI.
fun, sun, girls????.....no palm trees tho....speaking of palm trees...check this out...

for some reason this is labeled TOMMY. wonder why??
later

LOL...Mike, I was just trying to forget about those pics!! Unfortunately I think they're already burned in bigtime.

Rick, the two-prong turn-signal flasher is a direct replacement. The turn-signal flasher is pressed on to a bracket that hooks to the steering column. If you remove the panel under the steering wheel, you'll have easy access to it. The OEM is usually a small, round silver looking thingy...easier to find if you hit your turn signal while you're underneath looking for it. The E-flasher is completely on the other (passenger) side, underneath the dash. If I recall, you don't have to remove anything to get to it. It's right near that "Blue Thingy" that makes noise when your e-brake is up.

Your bulb scenario is perplexing, but I'd check the bulb nonetheless. On the Mera (at least on mine), there are two (2) bulb sockets stuck into each lens housing, so what you may be seeing is the one for the signal flasher is burned out, but the other one is okay.

Just FYI, when I bought my Mera, the signal lights (amber) lit up when I hit the brake, along with the red lights. Was very hard to figure out, and then I remembered that this was built on a Formula chassis. This meant that they used the wiring for rectangular lens setup on a round lights setup. After studying the wiring diagrams carefully in the manual, I found out that all I had to do was to cut a white (or was it light gray??) wire underneath near the steering column. Viola!! No more amber lights lighting up when I hit the brake, only the red lights. LOL...I was rather proud of myself for actually figuring out an electrical problem.

Yeah! Let's see more Mera's! Dano, you mentioned a yellow one in some past post, that was Julian's Mera. I knew he lived or worked up close by Canada border. Haven't heard from him lately, wondering what happened.

Dick, I was down visiting the ROKAF Hqs at Taejon, or Daejeon as they call it. Also spent a day at Osan AB. Haven't been back to Korea for a long time. Man, is it built up now, what a huge change. Saw A LOT of Hyundai's. I REALLY like the Genesis, its a nice ride. I was in Seoul for a few hours...that's where all the hot cars are at...Mecerdes, BMWs Ferrari, etc.

Going off-topic to show some pics from my trip.

Typical street scene in Taejon. But nothing compared to Seoul. Check out those condos/apartments in the left background. In Korea, there are complexes of high rise condos/apartments...row after row after row, and they all look the same. With so many people, I guess its the only way they can house everyone.

Saw A LOT of these very detailed street light and wire posts. LOL...looks like they took a wooden post and put that bugger on a huge lathe or something.

A view looking out of our minibus at a "modified" garbage truck:

Timing is everything, and we got there just in time to see the end of the cherry blossums. Hey Dan...this pic is missing something...a Mera!!

Actually, I did not see too many of these, as I remember many years ago. I think its a Daihatsu. Most are driving larger (regular) cars and even a lot of SUVs like Rodeo.

Picture of the KIA and Hyundai Headquarters buildings.

And the quiz for the day...guess what two animals (both the same) were in the back of this truck we saw tooling down the road. We were surprised to see this. Its a lousy shot through our minibus window, you are catching the reflection of our driver. But you may be able to make out something sticking out of that animal's head.

Enjoy!
Tom

but the tall one seems big for a donkey??? i still see Moose!

seems like the '88 meras and the '87's do have something in common afterall. i have a floor jack pressing on the pedal

my taillights and blinker lights light up togeather also!! may be a good thing.
could this be a Mera thing?? or in other words...why do the Meras do this?? is it a Fiero thing also??
i have not heard of this being a Fiero problem, like the Temp gauge pegging issue.
