Ok Mera guys, I know this is "off topic", but I am selling my factory yellow 88 GT 5-speed. For those that don't know, it is one of only 241 ever produced. This is a great running car that I have taken good care of over the years. If you know anyone looking for a nice 88 GT have them PM me. You can check it out https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum4/HTML/052579.html in the "Mall".

Hey, first on this page....Ownage!!

ohhh.... if i only knew i had a job after August. sonofaaaaa.....Crap.
either You or Me big Tom??? whos it going to be?
if i am destined for unemployment INS after Aug. should i bid My "job" money on this little puppy.
ahhhh who am i kidding i only could come up with $4000 that quick.
bet they want over $10,000 wonder if a cash and trade could be worked i got the TA. needs work tho.
Wish it was not on Ebay. i only shop AutoTrader Mag. within the Tri-State area from now on.

there was an 87 Mera sold out of Toledo OH, it was in the 'Trader.....i could have bought it and had a sticker....But i had already WON. X!

you all know Mera X. (*BRAGGGGG*)
The Mera that has more in common with the 1986 Prototype than any other Mera i have seen, well cept Mera #7005. if all this bragging pays off it will make up for all the Crying i did last year.....the Quest of All Things Mera is a larger entity due the strange influx of Meras in the seller marketplace. i do not know for a fact but have read alot that maybe a Mera or three a year were sold through the previous years. and when i got X there was 3, just before. #4 became ME

after that, Richard kept finding one after another on Craigslist and Ebay......heck we have one in fricken Sweden. Awesome!
i found a couple on odd ball site like classiccars.somethething. also one in England i believe....

i am sure this very thread has found "New" ones not in the registery till Tommy started this in the "way, way back?"

i donno.....just babblin' got some OT this week and THAT IS (really not expected) GOOD!!!!!
MAD...... Money..... whoooowhooooowhoooo!! i have been a good boy.....with money that is. maybe i should Fix the TransAm....theres an idea. i have been paying more attention to the others and not to the TA. thats the cheaper route and worth it.
see financially responsible......make your money work for you....i say.

and speaking of Richard. hey Holmes? what are you gunna do with your hurting Mera?...time to nurse it back to health....hope "they" give you some good money for it. i can be fixed right? is it real bad? i hate to ask but, do you have any pictures??? no pressure..

you know? we need to actually Value in Dollars what a fair Ins. claim/ buy out/ not sue your ass for hitting me and wreaking my limited edition slow down, buddy (sorry).....car settelment "should be" i will not get in to Richards business for the $$ amount but the Panels new are Quoted at between $10,000-$12000+ IN 1987.....with rarity in the Mix what should the Mera part be worth? yes i am going to say this, but if a restored, partial OEM Mera body is transfered (such as in Richards case) to a new Fiero, is it still a Mera? Hell YES. as much as a "restored" old GTO or Model T.

Mike comes in with his panels made with new modern, space age polymers. kevlar was it not??.....The TellTale difference some crass fellow may have mentioned, afore.

but no seriously:wink: i am trying to goad Mike to start thinking about say, Me when i hit a tree at the track some time soon and need a panel or two.or if i need a job as door to door salesman selling his wares. (dream job) or again, Richard who may need a source for him to pull a replacement $$ figure for the INS. CO.to get this ball rolling. again NO pressure guys.

sorry i start to act like a dictator if i dont eat....soo its off to the dinner station.....comrades....
laters fellow humans.....man my blood sugar must be real low.....

Indiana resto guy,
Sorry, been away from the computer since yesterday...work gets in the way of fun.
The carb is the original Holley 2818. Everything under the hood is stock except for the dual master cylinder, which I insist on if I'm going to drive an old car or truck. That conversion has been made on a '62 Chev Apache that I started working on a few years ago. That's another story. Maybe I'll finish it after I retire. But you're absolutely right. Ya gotta love a car that has enough space in the engine bay that you can literally climb in there and work on it with room to spare. The Fiero's give a person a LOT of appreciation for this simplicity and spaciousness!

I didn't realize there are so many Mera owners on here. I told my wife tonight that I'm thinking about pulling it (the Mera) out of the storage barn and driving it a bit. It hasn't been out yet this year. Might as well enjoy it. It might be nice enough next week to go for a drive up the North Shore (of Lake Superior). Nice scenic drive and curvy road.

Anyway, you guys are getting me to think about it!

~~Dan

I can surly understand the duel master, works the brake much better.
Do you have an outlet for carb kits? I thought that I was planning ahead on mine, got two left. It's a 67 Barracuda rag muffin and I could drop a back pack down the sides or the front and pick it up off the ground.

So many Mera owners? Some of us could be termed Meras owner LOL. I have three.
I DID take one out today that has been in the barn since last spring (2009) and did some romping on it, sounds so good with 30k.

It appears he changed out the seats to early Fiero one's with headrest speakers and installed a Mr. Mikes leather kit. The leather is starting to go bad around the speakers. There are some inconsistencies on the car. The floor mats are a little big, it is missing the factory radio, The wood grain dash does not give it a Ferrari look. I would have gone for a brushed aluminim dash kit for a sportier look. For a high dollar paint job, the masking around the sunroof was not too good. I do like the Rodney bumper conversion, just need to re align the driving light. I have those hubcaps but I keep them in a box. The wheels look so much better without them. Overall a nice Mera that just needs a little tlc.

I already tried to buy the Mera items but he did not want to sell them at the time. Maybe I will have better luck if the vehicle does not sell on ebay.

Hey Gents,

Installed my new trunk seal from InfiniteWill on fhe Mall. Looks much better than my torn one. Now I have to restore that back plate...you can see all that old silicon glue the PO put on to hold the old seal in place.

Dan...where and who has that table of Mera goodies. Would love to get my hands on that two-slat front grill!

Rick...good luck on the sale!

Dick...at this point, I'd be happy to get $10K for my Mera. I really want to get back to modifying my 88GT and then using it as a DD.

Later guys!

Tom its in this link to ebay.....the 2nd youtube link in the ADD. at the end of the vid.....its all there. you gotta be quick with the pause tho.
i am sure it will only go with the car.

it would be a shame for the new owner to not be able to restore it back to OEM Mera. Nelson seems to have tried.....unless you go crazy with an offer, you cant blame the guy for not splitting up the package. i find that quite admirable.
good luck.

Dan, there's a misunderstanding here. It was my 87GT that got smacked, not the Mera. Anyway, got some options--don't believe the insurance company will fix it.

1. Take the money and run
2. Take the money, buy the hulk and fix it.
3. Take the money, buy the hulk and sell it to the local Fiero Club, AZ Fieros, (the insurance company will probably want less than a junk yard)
4. Take the money, buy the hulk, fix it, and do a swap while I'm at it.

The "fix it" options are assuming it's fixable at a reasonable cost.

Sorry, Dan, no pics--before I settle, I try to get some.

My Grundy is expiring in a month or so--guess I'll re-insure at regular rates and use the Mera as a daily driver for awhile. Ugh.

whoops sorry....well at least my "bad reading comprehention".... is way better than my "/story/" (in my head) that Destroyed your Mera. the 20 year thing suck tho
i said something about your Mera today at work.still thinking it was crashed. I was jiveing about the questions I brought up in the thread, using #70XX, as an example. i dont know what i was thinking. but it does still pose the questions.
you guys have Special Replacement INS. on yours?
what is a reasonable "Replacement Value" for our cars??

WAIT!! did i Just Call Mera X, #70XX.....thats F-King awesome......Tommy!! thats what i am going to Put on the silver Pininfarina Badge!!!!
Corprate Concepts
Mera #70XX

or maybe:-
CorprateConcepts
Pontiac Mera #70XX.
yeah thats the ticket.....

where was i? INS!
i just have regular "full coverage"....
whatever that means....i have never caused an accident to need to file a claim. heck the last big time car accident I was in, was when my Mom was driving. i was 14-15 at the time. 1984-5. so i dont even know how the claim thing works at all.....thats strange, is it not??
does this mean i am a good driver? my driving history in this State- speeding tix and the lot, may nod to the contrary. whos to Judge? anybody have their phone #. i gots to know.
Car Accidents are way more dangerous than speeding tickets
theres a T-shirt i can sell at the Fair this year.....thats a good one.

later all

I have Grundy, they don't seem to be so hard over about what kind of miles you put on the car. I have full coverage, my agreed value of $16k, for both collision and comprehensive, and $300k PLPD--all for about $230/yr. I put less that 1000 miles on the car this year.

With less than 3 weeks of good weather driving you guys up north have, this is the insurance for you ;-)

you bet that is a good INS. for me....the $230 a year kind. i would put way more Miles than 1000 with a solid car. all running good and all.

wonder what the cut off is?? i am going to check into this. thanks Richard.

i only have storage coverage in the winter but that almost adds up to $215 or so.
i let my house ins cover the garage and contents for the peace of mind during them seasons

Tom, if you are really serious about selling the Mera, and don't think you can generate sufficient interest in the Islands, you should contact Paul V and see what options he might have.

Same to you Mike! What are you all doing this long weekend? I bought a set of new dew wipes from InfiniteWill a while back, installed them today on the Fiero. Wow...excellent design and product. The Mera needs them too, but I'm thinking they will be a lot harder to change, since the door skin sits so much higher that a Fiero. Also repainting the wiper arms and grills on the Fiero...been neglected for a while...
Later,
Tom

whoa! only $10,000 for all the Mera goodies. ohhhh and the Mera.....WHO GOT IT? Nelson, has been quiet lately......its always the quiet ones, that get the big score.....

surry friends i spent the loooong hooooottt......weekend in NYC- Manhattan and brooklyn.
buy the unlimited "Metro" pass and you can go anywhere. i love trains.

went to see a 90's rock band. they reunited for me, to be up front with my 5 ft dance floor. quite a achievement for up front. well it was the outside front. great view 'cept i could not see the drummer. till i moved back 20 ft. after like 9 songs. its was so hot in NYC, home is a cool down. at almost 90 degs.

Tom,
you are right. we need an upper dew wipe for the Mera. we cant just drill into the panel, can we? seem too thin and with no metal backer. now, i am back to work. i have acsess to metal stock. i may come up with something.

Mike
i am totally down with a Mera get togeather.....would be sweet to get the 1986 prototype there too.

funny thing with the, "somewhere in the middle" thing is, if we consider our bragh, "Mr.Fiero In Paradise"....the middle questimates to around LA, California.....if not, in the ocean or something.
that's the long weekend talking, sorry. still it is funny.....tho

actually where are we all located?....that a good question. off the top of my Jet lagged head. uhhhh......

is it?

HOW ABOUT A MERA FALL COLOR TOUR?
some place awesome for fall color. ohhh.... the "Halloween Mera Run To Devils Tower Run"
i would think that the middle is up North here somewhere but hopefully way West of me.....its all corn and flat for 200 miles in all directions except for up Northern MI. Da Youpper, eh. i love trains and MOUNTAINS.....so i nominate somewhere over 5280 ft Ele.
there is a start. maybe.....
cool thing about the Dakota's is the destinations we could choose for the Trip.

time for the pushpin and string Map on the wall.
Later

*edit* after browsing a map real quick....the East coast Meras ( I know of 2 in FL also) are pulling us south and and east but good ole Richard has the distance to get us more west than IL. i hope. soo as a Crow flies (straight line) i say the relative middle for the Continental 48 is around Topeka, KS. if FL is involved its more like Wichita KS. maybe even SpringField, MO. to get the actuall drive miles will take a lot longer and tommarrow to start. i am on the case, boys. how aboot a RSVP from those interested, me first .

Me and Mera X are in. down like a clown.

I put in a bid on this vehicle but was not successful. Your post says $10K was the final sale price but the response I got to my offer said around $16 k. I have no idea as to what the actual price was. I am somewhat more likely to pick up 7014 in the next month or two if it departs the family rthat currently has it.

7014 likely needs an engine but I will be waiting 30 to 45 days to see if it stays in the family or joins my stable. The car is black and has been converted to a F308 replica so I would have to do some work on it to complete a restoration.

Welcome back Dan, you jet setter you!

It's funny you should mention that Mike. I've been toying with the idea to ship my Mera to my dad, who lives in Gardena, Calif, and then throw it up for sale. Of course, then I'd be charging a lot more than the $10K I want out of it. LOL...if I did that, then for sure we'd have to all meet somewhere. I'm confident that I can drive my Mera cross-country. My mom and dad took a tour a while back through Missouri, they loved it.

A little off-topic, but I spent some time over the weekend working on the 88GT. I ended up removing the "restrictor plate" under the two rear grills, and mounting an open grill/screen under the grill...if that makes sense (kinda like the Mera setup). Wow...what a difference, the hot air from the engine compartment now flows freely out, and the rear deck is actually cool-to-the-touch after a long drive. Jeez, I should have done this mod a long time ago! This is probably THE best practical mod for a Fiero, to lower the engine bay temp. I also re-painted the wiper arms and replaced the wipers, and installed new dew wipes. Poor thing...I think the Mera must have felt neglected over the long weekend.
