Joe, when you get a chance, can you post some more pics of your 328. I'd like to see the differences from the Mera bodywork better. By the way, tell us about your other yellow fiero and the GN in the background.
The headlight treatment and center hood vent are more accurate than the Mera. The body fit is not near as good as the Mera. I kind of like the blackout treatment around the taillights. Too bad it is so far gone.......

Dang Rick, you have eagle eyes. The 84 Fiero is all stock (expect for paint and wheels) , Iron Duke Automatic, almost 200K miles, sunroof, luggage rack, it was black with grey interior but in now competition yellow. Wheels are Ultra 15x7, 215/6015 radials. Engine has powdercoated intake, valve covers and air cleaner housing but that's the extent of any modifications.
The Grans National is an 86, but redone as an 87 GNX clone. There isn't much stock on that one. The engine was redone by Don Cruz with forged internals, billet roller cam, TA-49 Turbo, duttweiler intercooler, Kenne Bell parts, upgraded trans, suspension, the list is far too long to mention. Several sets of wheels and tires, but Centerline Champ 500s are shown here.
I've been needing to take more pics of the 328, I'll post those as soon as I can get to it. For now, here are a couple of thumbnails. Things have changed since these were taken, but at least this is an idea of the basic look.

How do you guys insure your Meras, and what do you pay? Do you have "agreed value" coverage? I am presently with Grundy and my premium is about $250/yr--agreed value is $16000. Since I lost my 87GT (RIP), I want to use my Mera as an occasional driver and don't want to live with the classic car insurance restrictions, but the "book" value with conventional insurance is as an '88 SE.
holmes, i provided all the mera documentation i could muster up and pictures of the mera id tag showing it is a mera to the insurance agent. then i gave him 3 different mera' prices that were for sale at the time to give an estimated value. at that point the insurance company came back and said it was 15000.00 agreed value. the more paperwork you can provide them the better i think. my .02 mike
mine is with american national insurance out of springfield mo. its in there chrome package and i can drive it up to 7000 miles a yr and its 268.00 a yr. $500.00 ded. 100/300/100 rated.
7000 miles is pretty liberal, and I can live with the deductible--are there any restrictions on WHERE you can drive it? Some policies restrict you to public events, shows, and parades--one company will allow you to drive it to work twice a week, but not to the grocery store.

Will this allow me to drive it to work on occasion? I am very interested. What are the restrictions?
Great cars! I like the bumper pad car in yellow. Your GNX clone looks mean. When I worked for Buick back in the day I used to drive 86 and 87 Turbo T-Types. I drove a Grand National for awhile, but no one would try me on. With the T-Types, usually in light blue metallic, or gray metallic, with the chrome bumpers, I could suprise a lot of unsupecting drivers.

Yeah Rick, those T-Types are the sleepers! I rarely get challenged in the GNX clone. It seems like every performance enthusiast knows them all too well. A guess a side benefit is that I've been getting pretty good gas mileage.

I have two restored/engine swapped Meras insured with American Collectors for about $300 per year each. One is insured for $25k and the other for $30k. There is a mileage limitation of 2500 miles per year but I can get that lifted for a few more dollars.

I do not remember any usage restrictions being applied (maybe other than use as a daily driver) but they did require indoor/garage storage, minimum driver age of 25, and having at least one other car for a DD use.

check out the door handles and the slope of the belt line in the front. ouch.
Car has already been removed from ebay. The front end droop is severe. Either a lousy splash copy, or poor accident repair. I can't place the door handles. The best part of the car is the wheels. I would not mind having them.
I just figured out the door handles.....Miata

Is this agreed value? If so for how much? What are the other restrictions?
THE WHEELS IN THE LAST PIC ARE REAL 308 METRIC WHEELS, USUALLY CHEAP TO BUY BUT HARD TO FIND TIRES FOR. CAN FIND 14" ORIGINAL WHEELS THAT LOOK JUST LIKE THEM AND CAN STILL BUY TIRES FOR THOSE. OF COURSE YOU CAN PURCHASE AFTERMARKET 15" AND 16" VERSIONS AS WELL BUT THEY TEND TO GET PRICEY. DEPENDS ON YOUR TASTE AND BUDGET. MY .02
It not a Mera, but the price is very reasonable for somone who wants one of these to play with.
WAZZZZZZ, UUUUP?????????
had to clean a TrojanWin32Fakespy virus.......not sure how i got a "bug" from a "Anti-Virus" software company?? the little sucker was a complete bugger to get out all right. but i got rid of it for free. by myself. i am rather resourceful. had to do it offline, so me computer was slient for 1 week before i could even look at it. then the digging started. all in house. now even the ONLINE scan says i am all clean now
after digging through the PFF files and archives, i guess i have gotten good at the research thing.
Anyway, time for the Meras. "OUR" Meras. as mentioned earlier like 2 weeks ago....DANG!its been awhile,WOW....i plan on printing all the pages here in Toms thread and with a highlight marker (seriously) going in for the "good Stuff.
"differences in the 87/88's"...track cars and look for patterns. stuff like the early Mera signs i think i may have found. the "what have yous". i am sure they are all there. this will also keep me out of trouble this winter. something to do. should be interesting.
ohhh yeah.....i called the guy about that Black "1986 Mera".....got him on track with that and the no back up lights.....his title says 1986 Fiero....but told him to consider me if some of the tire kickers fall thru......yes i am thinking about it as a reciepent of my planned 3.8 swap and leave Mera X, stock.
i would feel real bad if i hopped up Ole X and crashed it. so totally more so, if i find that it is/was an early specimen. this kit car will take care of that and it comes pre-crashed......i only go low $$, tho.....we will see.

Yes, Jeff was sitting on the back of the Mera when the picture was taken, but it is not jacked up at all in the rear. The Goodyear tires are p255r60/15 in the back and p235r60/15 front. If my memory serves, the height difference between the two sizes is somewhere around 1 1/2 inches. For an idea of scale, Jeff is 4'30" tall (ahhhh...that's 6'6") .... the same height as me. We both fit into our respective Fieros with headroom to spare!
The local Goodyear dealer charged $440 for the tires, mounting and balancing, plus $6 each for recycling-disposal of the old ones that had been on the rims. He let me supervise the balancing process, because I wanted all wheel weights on the inside of the rim (no gouging up the rims with clip-on wheel weights). I didn't think that was too bad of a price, and the car handles very well with these tires.
Dan, i did read that you have the stock suspention. and if Jeff is sittin and pushing down on the rear....is this why in that school pic your car looks "even"? my car has the illusion of jacked uppediness.....i thought, cuz of my 2 rim sizes. i am not so sure now. hummmmm....? now i got to stare at Mera Pics for a long time.....back later D
