That's what happens when you use an SUV as you should. The desert is tougher on sidewalls that it is on tread! Saw a funny Cayenne ad on the side of a building in San Francisco (appropriately), "Go climb an on-ramp." [This message has been edited by reholmes (edited 08-13-2010).]

Say, anybody seen this?? bumper for sale! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymot...ck_Parts_Accessoriesno pictures also i was skipping thru "Pontiac Mera Threads" on a Google search and noticed that the one 1988 Mera that was for sale from Midwest Classics....the one with all the Mera support (emblems, grilles, ect..) had the Fiero seats with speakers in them....anybody else have the Fiero Speaker Seats in their MERA?? i know i have asked this before.....but forgot when. soooooo many pages here..... seems that there are different "Mera links" on different Net providers.....(IE...Yahoo, Goggle, MSN).....more for the DataMonster ohh yeah, i also saw and raced one of the older bada$$ Supras......it had a big turbo, if not 2, i could hear it behind me!!! Yeah! behind me. i took him...he was looking at me and Mera X when the light changed....i totally "tree'd him" the full story.... so i see ahead of me something New to the area, a AWD turbo Supra....not sure what year i will look this up later. well, i get right behind him. the 1st light changed, left turn and we go, him up front. i get the other of 2 lanes and punch it. blow past him and then i hear "IT". a massive spin up and whoosh. as he flies past me i hear greatness but a lot of black smoke....we meet up at the next light, me first for he backed off after the black smoke. now, at the 2nd light he is looking at me and Ole X when the light changes and then its ON! Floored and using my Automatic shifter in, 1st, then 2nd, then drive!!! i won. the Supra never got close. i was haulin'. i could hear him back there, spin whoosh, spin, whoosh. sounded real rough.alot of black smoke to boot. he never passed me. I WIN!! at the 3rd light he tells me "it is too hot (and i suspect humid, like over 85%) for the Turbo". yadda yadda yadda......still that car was awesome.....may have a new target in my eyes if this economy breaks..... in for more later Daniel [This message has been edited by batousai666 (edited 08-15-2010).]

heres a good exchange..... Our own Tommy mentions that the Mera in the sales brochure has no back-up lights......Rodney replies.... | quote | Originally posted by Rodney:

Welcome aboard! Very nice! Who's kit is it? What wheels are you running? Please post a picture of the front of the car. I also like the black roof treatment. How about the interior? Inquiring minds want to know! [This message has been edited by Rick 88 (edited 08-18-2010).]

Kit came from a group out of Canada 12 years ago -- ONYX 308 / 328 conversions. Car has the 308 front bumper with the OE Ferrari lenses and MERA tail lights. Wheels are Australian (Borbet I think) and are 16" with different offsets for a more aggressive stager. 2.8 has been "lightly" worked with 52K original miles (1986 SE) Auto air cruise grey interior. Seats have had Ferrari logo's sewn on by my wife and I have Rodneys euro shifter @ Amidia shift gate. I'll shoot some fresh pic's of the interior front & rear when the weather clears. Did just win a "Showfield Award of Excellence" at Carlisle GM nationals. Thanks for the kind words.

Steve, man, that car is shinny.....looks good. wish mine looked that good.......wait.......stop the boat! this brings to mind something i forgot till just now. anybody got any tips on buffing a Mera? just remembered, i got a new "Craftsman Double Insulated Buffer/Polisher System". $25 bucks.....it was in the back of my Jeep. for weeks now.*DUH* i am/was going to try to buff out that horriable front clip of mine. i messed it up in the spring. some of the old paint is under the failed attempt. looks the same. since i know nothing....i did not rough up the old before the new. so it seems good. just got spray can, wrong color, on top. no primer. i ask this request because if i remember correctly, one should not keep long in one spot, eh? because of "paint burn". is this more true on Fiberglass? will it warp or something? i do not want/need to find THIS out the hard way. thanks in advance. well, it seems the Lay-Off train has pulled into the station....my station. so prepare yourselves.....it could get rough....or not we will see. last day is tomarrow. i may start culling the archives sooner, than later. Bye, D

I would like to blend the roof panels in with the sunroof i also reminds me of the T-Top cars.i got a TransAm with T's, soo nice. i think the T Top (all glass) look would be sharp on a Mera....humm......T-Top Meras got to go see something. Later D *EDIT* hey, any of you have T-Tops???? Know of anybody with T-Tops???? the pics i have....Nada...let the games begin! [This message has been edited by batousai666 (edited 08-20-2010).]

That targa top look is a nice idea. I was looking into doing it with fabric, but vinyl looks good too. ------------------ Competition Yellow 84 2.5 Bone stock right down to electrical gremlins. 87 328 GTB replica.

Sorry - haven't figured out quotes yest -- I would think that a good painter would have a method to create a smoked glass or reflective finish paint to blend in a sunroof and give it a more targa like look. In responce to a number of questions / comments on my vehicle. Yes - I'm on the big side - 6-4 255 and I fit just fine. Springs were trimmed a bit to lower the vehicle and with the 16 inch tire wheel combo fill the wheel wells up nicely - Paint is Aztec Red urathane - Used on 300 ZX - Roof and bumpers are low gloss Sherwin Williams -- vehicle has always been garaged - except for a short stay at a local repair shop two weeks ago when the fuel line factured as I pulled into a cruise spot, lucky no fire! -- I clay bar the paint twice a year and I use a Boat type "wax" usually Dura Gloss. Paint job is 12 years old. Spent the better part of today detailing the car for a big show tomorrow- Redskins Ride where my junk will be on display with the lambos bentleys and ferraris of the Redskins. I'll post some more detailed pic's and hopefully some show pictures if not rained out.

Absolutely beautiful car Steve! Great poses for Mera Dan! I gotta find the time to take more pics around the island. Sigh... Just out of curiosity, do you guys know the history on the Mera T-top installs? Did they go to Corporate Concepts first for the conversion to Mera, or did they go to Car and Concepts for the T-top install first? ^^^^all good info......thanks. clay bar??? whats that do? as far as the painter. i was gonna try an airbrush friend of mine to see if he could do something....i was also thinking about window tint?? maybe a sheet of the silver, mirror finish over the whole roof section then cut for the sunroof. that might work, no?? ohhh yeah..... to get a quote, all you have to do is find the post you want to quote and on their post, hit the "quote" botton in the upper tool bar, far right....it will "quote" the org poster and you can add whatever you want after you hit enter under said quote. make sure your new stuff is outside the last [/QUOTE] Nelson and Indy?? did your Meras come with them T-Tops, OEM?? gonna dig thru some paper work to see if it reflects any info on the T-Tops.... back later. dan [This message has been edited by batousai666 (edited 08-22-2010).]

Clay bar sold by McGuires / Mothers and others --- easy to do just follow instructions -- you just spray with a "detailer" provided with the kit and rub with the clay bar. It shears the water spots, orange peel, and dirt from the paint and when buffed with a micro fiber towel after a sealer wax of your choice your paint is as perfect as it can be!
A good painter should be able to find a match to a sun roof , blueblack or chrome(ish) to blend in a sunroof. I think the tint film would be to delicate unless it's under a clear coat if that could be done.[This message has been edited by steve308 (edited 08-22-2010).]

Dan, I added the t-tops to one of my hardtop cars. However, I know of several t-top Meras that are original anbd not added. I may end up with another t-top vehicle (87 Mera) in the near future if the price is right. | quote | org. quote by jscott1 Cars and Concepts were marketing T-tops to anybody that would buy them. It's not exactly aftermarket, because the T-tops that you find installed in 84 to 87 Fieros by C&C are nearly identical to the ones that were ordered from the dealers. That's because the dealers had the cars stop off at C&C in Brighton Michigan to have the tops installed before they got to the dealership, (Option code "CJB").
As recently as a few years ago there were brand new kits you could buy to have installed in any Fiero. In fact, I would bet the rent that there are still brand new kits squirelled away by members of this forum. Every now and again one pops up for sale. It's estimate that 2,000 to 4,000 kits were sold.
So it's not an Indy thing at all. T-tops can be found in any year Fiero, but there were only 1252 with the "CJB" option code making them more rare.
END |
|
i found this above in the ARCHIVES..... seems the only Meras with OEM t tops are gonna be the 1988's...... however, while looking over my hardcopy articles i did find a little tib-bit. in my paperwork, a statement in an old Car and Driver Mag, June 1987 article......"CCL will even reskin the seats to make them look like the standard equipment of a certain exoticar builder, headquartered in Northern Italy" seems to be talking about these: Mera #6001 and these from Mera #7005 and these in, Mera X thats the ticket..... check this out.....while Image searching "Pontiac Mera". Match'ing gun image poped up, mang.......so i clicked thinking the gun was a "Mera" something or other.....to my surprize i see this.... and this...... i think this is really a Mera or splash for the lack of Trunk lid cut out in the sail panel, as per the F-car and the 3rd brake light. also i think the owner is a poster here on the PFF. not sure if its the same guy. same name tho ohhhh.....the sun just peeked out. out of the data mines and off to the car-port for a little buff out action. adios los hombes..... i guess if the T tops are OEM they will be reflected in the RPO sheet??? i think this is only revelent to the 1988's. the T-tops in my opinion are the closest we cam get to true Targa with out cutting out the whole roof and comming up with something custom. Dan While the one with T-Tops ( also an 88) is not a CJB car the tops were installed when the car was rebodied. I will need to look to see which kit was used for that conversion and see if it is the same as a CJB car. And since it seems like your loaded with info, Mera #7005 where did you get the photos of that car? Any other info on it? By the number is it the 5th one built? Was the proto type counted as the number 7001 or was it not counted? Got that info?

the owner sent them to me.....he posts here under the name JanR. Mera #7005 currently resides in Sewden. i refer to the 1986 Proto as Mera #6001. has no sticker. i have some paperwork stating that there may well be another proto out there on an '87. this may turn out to be mine not sure still trying to verify. technically Mera #7005 is the sixth counting the Proto. the cool thing about these 2 cars is i fit right in with them. same points on our engine grilles and seats. and Mera X and Mera #6001 both have Manual drivers side mirrors and switches!!! this too me is awesome!!! time for breakfast, be back later Dan [This message has been edited by batousai666 (edited 08-22-2010).]
