That must be the copy for the 88 model. Could you email a copy of that to me so I can print one for my Mera paperwork?
hey fellas wats up!!!!
lets see what have you all been up to, today?? the printout that Richard has looks like the back of the Sales Brochure. it is dated 1987. and correct me if i am wrong but, it does not mention the '88 only upgrades, does it? and the only thing it has different is the inclusion of the Chromadoras. granted they "are" the '88 upgrade minus the better suspention..ect..
i was wondering about this earlier today....but then something caught my eye.....

so totally cool with the light up dorrs and the light up engine bay.....i would buy that.
which brings up the following statement..........ahem.....as of today Mera X is off the engine Swap list. forever.
due to recent self-made(up)revelations as to the possible early Mera (1-4 hopefully) status of Mera X, this revelation is impetus enough to decree that any 3800/v8/big block swaps in my playground will ither be bought as is....or a paid for install. that is all....end transmission D

I agree! My brother, who collected high end American cars, said, "But 'em the way you want to drive 'em--let someone else pay for the restoration." Having said that, if I win the lotto, I might take it to Tehachapi.
Here are the rest of the Mera tri-folds--they were obviously originally photos not scans:

Looks like a Panoz to me, he did pair up with Roush for some performance and technical help.
THATS IT! thanks richard. now i see why your pics are kinda grainy....they are photographs of the brouchure, right? i scanned mine into my computer, then shrunk. alot. looks good i am gunna shrink them both for a side by side compare... Dan
thanks.....i did more driving and talking(ya think) than lookin well the cars that passed by on the street we saw. only 1 F-Car. i only caught the rear in the dark, after 9:00pm. looked like the 599?? never came back
the two coolest for me are the Lambo
and totally this 1974 Pantera.....$54,000. WOW!

On the lower sheet, notice the option.....sunroof or t-tops
whoops forgot that one. Yup, good eye!
if memory serves, the offical T Top option, as per the RPO sheets, was only offered on the 1988's, correct?
this could very well be a nod to the affect. another difference in the sheets. i feel that just qualified them as a....." too much info for a false document", document.
i cant keep all the info straight without writing it down. seems silly to have a "paper trail" for my computer research. guess i have to. time for more printer ink and reams of paper.
Just a couple of pics from a local show & my Hawk. (saved him when he was just a chick - he's fully wild but will come around a few times a year usually when I'm cooking out - and beg a piece of raw steak.
yeah, totally. it would be cool to have a wild bird of prey as a pet, big time. before the "End Times" you could teach it to get the food for both of ya. if it is your "friend" and "plays" with you, seems to be better than a Remote control plane...fun. cant play fetch with a toy.
cool pic. keep em commin. you other guys too, season is almost over. well, for the Nothern half anyway. Dan
[This message has been edited by batousai666 (edited 08-29-2010).]
Just to clear up the"pet" part--- he's not trained and I'll go months without a sighting then he will just swoop down into the yard, scaring the sh*t out of my cats -- and hop over for a bite of meat from the bbq! I learned the hard way to always put on gloves before I pick him up --- never been bitten -- I guess it's my payback for finding him as a chick when a tree was blown over a couple of years ago.
yes. i understand. i have a wild Cat that does the same thing. hes not my pet, but you know..... if I could....i caught him once for a vet to look at a bad cut in his foot. all infected. 2 weeks later, after he healed, the last thing he wanted is in my house. finally had to let him go. funny. now that you mention it, i have not seen him all summer. circle of life, i guess

Nice pics Steve! That is an interesting story about the hawk. It is amazing how animals can bond to people. I really like your louvered hood. Can that still be purchased from the company you got you kit from? Also the front bumper is nicer than the Mera version. Are you side louvers metal or glass? Since you built yours, can you explain how the door handles mount inside the door? Thanks Rick
I have not been able to find the kit manufacture (ONYX 308/328) Toronto Canada for many years and have searched the area phone books for the owners with no luck. I'll dig up a business card (I hope) and maybe some of our north of the boarder friends may have a line on them. It's my understanding that they went thru hell with the F group like so many others did so no I dodn't think any panels are available. The side air intake grills are metal screen molded into shape and glassed in from behind. The window louvers are fiber glass. The door handle is in the body line crease and uses stock hardware, just repositioned. I need to do a dew wipe replacement this winter and service the electric locks. I'll take some pic's of the repair later this "off season". PS - found a free download for resizing pics to load into PIP -- PIX resizer -- down loads easy -- simple to use. Car I'd like to have - Alex Ovechin's "black'
I will go with picture number two. The "matte black" look just doesn't do it for me. There is a picture of a Ferrari on the fourm done this way and I don't like it either. Just my personal opinion. I do like matte black hoods on 69 Mach 1's.
Whatever the 87 spec sheet shows, my 87 MERA has two power mirrors and shows no signs at all of modification.
Nelson
even the more better. the cool thing i noticed is the lack of a hole in the door for the wires if there ever were any at all.
*disclaim* i do have an open issue with my doors so this could all be for naught. the whole 3 key thing. 1 trunk key. 1 ignition key and 1 for doors.
i am sorry to say but at this point the less i have in common with the 1987 Production Meras the better i feel. since the 86 proto showed up the tables have turned 180 degrees.....
at some point a transition needs to happen.... (i.e. rounded eng lovures, adding the Cromadoras and serial # stickers in the trunk.) if that post from my PO turns out to be true. the post about adding the reverse lights. there was that, too.
lets say for instance, it is when they ran out of the unpowered stock mirrors and had to switch to the all powered. maybe, very early in the mock-up stage they went cheap. so the unpowered may have been lower in cost to start. after the gaining interest in the Mera brand they may have had to look for a more consistant flow of some of the mera specific parts. Maybe?
i may be leaning to the position that Mera X could very well be a 1987 Proto of sorts....like the first early model made after the success of the 1986 proto but, before the actual production run. i wish i could see the '86 in person. that would help totally.
gotta go check somethhing.....back later. maybewith something BIG!!!!!
In answer to one of your questions, the Chromadora rims were only available on 88 MERAs from the factory. I know of one 87 Mera that has them, but suspect that they were an add on. The differences in wheel offsets on the 87 versus the 88 do not make the Chromadoras an ideal wheel for the 87.
well you got me there .....i thought the 86 proto had them. also, this was found a long time ago.....in WA. the add says its an '87....
you are right about the 88's off-set. i forgot about that....i need to learn more mechanical stuff.
i am going to look at a set of rims later, today hopefully.....13" all 4 $25. does not say each so i have to buy them. what do you guys think? in Gold....or yellow??? black?
looks ready to accept a Mera center cap emblem.... i wanna make it a Center Cap "floater". like the Rolls Royce. that would be da cats ass.

Note the tire sizes--245s all around v. 245s/265s, which I have and can't replace the 245s.
No one would balance my tires cuz they're too old, even though they look new. So ended up at Pep Boys who consented and did a real good job (can you believe the stares; an F-car in Pep Boys). They run pretty darn smooth considering the radial and axial run-out. Now I have to watch my speed--and for cops!
I was tempted to agree, but considered the facts--there's little they could do for me that I haven't done, and nothing I could do for them. Well, unless maybe an inheritance!

The front tires look too tall. Make sure they do not hit any of that irreplaceable bodywork. You may need to keep your wheel spacer on the back as well. I think those 13's are narrower than the stock 15's and will sit too far in on the rear.
On that yellow Mera, I contacted them when I was looking for mine. They said the wheels came on it, but It had already been sold. I have those funky center caps for my Cromodoras too. I keep them in a box. They ruin the look of an otherwise nice wheel. The yellow Mera was an auto, and I was really after a 5-speed. Nice car though......
[This message has been edited by Rick 88 (edited 08-30-2010).]
yeah. them tires are junk anyway. i will have to keep my eye on that tho. thanks. this winter i will try them on. they are just mocked up for now. could not pass on the deal.
in the large pic, it looks like the front will come up a little when they are actually mounted. i hope. maybe a switch to a thinner wall tire. "low profile". NOPE! i want the look like GMplastic......fat walls. sooooo old school.
ohhhh......if i go "new" school with the low profile. wonder what it would look like if i also lowered the car itsself? time for another PhotoShop.
the spacers?? crap! ohhh well. i also like the fatter tire in the back look.
the yellow Mera still comes up when one should search Meras on that site. i was using it as a reference for some of the 1987's having the Cromodoras.....WAIT!
wonder how they got around the 87 to 88 offset difference????hmmmmm.....
now the red Lambo door one shows also.
i would totally buy it. i would hoard all the 1987 Meras i could find in a perfect world.
its funny in my "Perfect World" all i need is a steadi-er job scene....
10 months on 2 months off......Heaven!
