You have GOT to check this out...a Mera/308 "go cart!" It is seriously, no kidding, over the top. LOL...for that special Mera owner who has everything! But $17.5K is just a little too steep for a go-cart (if you can even call it that).
Interesting but I think that I will have to pass. In today's market I can get a nice Mera for that price (likely with an engine swap of some sort).

I'm liking the wheel well gap. Things look nice and tight, just the way I like it. now the rest of the car....... some of it is OK, some of it is a dislike. Looks like nice paint though. ------------------ Competition Yellow 84 2.5 Bone stock right down to electrical gremlins. 87 328 GTB replica.

I think two coils off the front, and a half coil off the rear, of an 88 Mera would be pretty close to that look.......

what is a lz9? i have a ls9 from a 2010 zr1 corvette 638hp supercharged ls7 basically. but its not swapped into anything yet. i was actually thinking about putting it in my porsche 944 turbo that has a blown turbo. that will make a nice car.
It's a 3.9 60 degree puhrod 6 cyl--240/240 hp/t used in the G6, Impala, and others. Cheap and easy to find.
This swap has already been done by someone here on Pennocks. He posted videos and it runs pretty good. My wife had a 06 Malibu SS with the 3.9. It suprised a lot of people!
My ideal swap would be the 3.6 DI motor out of the CTS, and new Camaro. 312 hp out of the box. Since I am trying to keep mine looking stock. I am just swapping in a West Coast Fiero built 3.4 with some nice mods. Should pep up the Mera a bit......

size comparison...... heres a pic of the New badge next to a custom version from Tom In Paradise. "i am soooo much bigger"..... ooops, sorry. wrong channel.
the frame is plastic..... i thought it was metal. not as heavy as it looks in the pic. the plastic gold frame does have 1987 molded in to it.... hold up??.....that seems weird
.....a 1995 Mera Reunion Award with a 1987 plastic frame, now on a 1987 Mera......gosh, that is twisted.
man that rear end still looks good...... you guys remember the Xillion Videos?? the "How to Make A Mera" vids on the FieroNews site?
they offered a office desk type of set up with that rear end wonder if there is any on ebay??
when this swap is done, your going to love it. is it a NO Mile create Eng?? Brand new??
that would rule! A Mera with a Brand Spanking New engine.....que the angelic singing....
before i got the ax at work i was in negoation with a member here on the PFF for a real low mile 3.4 with some cool mods. he was going to put it in engine and Install.....$3,000.
how many ponies and torques ya gonna get?? going to put it on a Dyno??
how 'boot a turbo?? i see that there is a new turbo thread in the "general" area with 2 Meras and a Kit. all have turbos.....then there is lucky Nelson, i think he has one too.....1 of 4????? wonder if he got that one '87, yet?
YOU NEED A TURBO!! maybe. just a thought.....sorry guys too much after work coffee.
Rick, cant wait till the unveiling......keep Us posted. as far as your "wheres this go".....i'll bite.....ahhhhhh it looks like it goes between them tow thingys on those three, threaded dooohickies..... afront the whachamacallit........muffler.....wait are you being serious??? i have not a clue. i am just the driver!
Well......when I purchased my Mera, I was in love with the body work. I had wanted one for years. But I found that the beautiful body adds pounds to the GT chassis that my trusty yellow 88 GT did not have to cart around. That being said, the Mera was less fun to drive than the GT. So I began to think about swaps. My ideal swap would be a 312 hp 3.6 DI V6 from a Camaro attached to an F40 six speed. Since none have been done as yet an I did not want my swap to take years, I took the easy way out with a 3.4 pushrod motor. More power and torque, and it can look like a stock Fiero motor. Which means the Mera will basically appear unaltered. Hopefully the power increase will offset the additional sexy pounds and make my Mera at least as frisky as my yellow GT.
Now to the engine. Dan, it is not a new crate motor, but I think it is a better find. The engine has under 10k miles and was originally built by West Coast Fiero. It already had all the necessary Fiero bits so it looks correct. I drove the Fiero that had this engine in it and was very inpressed with the performance and additional torque. The engine sounds a little too lumpy at idle to be stock but I have no idea what cam is in the motor. The owner wanted to do a 4.9 auto swap. I on the other hand love a manual transmission. So with some horse trading, I ended up with the motor.
Upon more inspection we found the engine already had a bored out throtle body and intake manifold. The exhaust manifolds have been welded and ported. It has what appear to be Accell injectors. Also, it already has the stainless lines replacing the stock plastic ones. And finaly some very nice red MSD ignition wires.
We replaced the water pump becasue it is much easier to do out of the car. Also we pulled the oil pan and viewed an extremely clean bottom end with a hd timing chain. You can also still see crosshatch in the cylinders so there is not much wear. We tack welded the oil pick up to the pump for good measure and then resealed the pan.
I have added Rodneys idler pully to eliminate the infamous Fiero belt squeal, and also installed his power pulley too. We replaced the stock coil with an MSD unit to match the wires an installed fresh Bosch Platinum II plugs. I loved the Bosch plugs in my yellow car. It always ran great with them. Since my Mera is not a show car. it is just getting a good cleaning and some detail painting. The original owner of the Mera installed an aftermarket intake tube and filter. I am putting everything back to stock with a K&N in the stock housing. The throttle body warming lines are being left off as they are not necessary in west Texas. I eventually want to install a "Dawg" modified intake for even more air flow into the engine. For now I will see how it runs in this configuration. The original Getrag is being replaced with an almost NOS Getrag. It along with a 2.8 was pulled from GT that had 300 miles on it when it was hit. The trans looks like brand new and is getting fresh GM synchromesh fluid to keep it in good condition. The other reason I went with the 3.4 is that I did not want to lose that 60 degree V6 Fiero exhaust sound. That is one of the favorite things I like about these cars.
The original Getrag is going to be rebuilt combining the stock 1/2 gearset with the 3/4/5 gearset from an "export Getrag" with the 3.91 final drive ratio. It will have a closer gear spread on the 4/5 shift and the extra dig of the 3.91 vs stock 3.64 final drive. I calculate an under a 200 rpm difference at 70 with stock diamater tires. Not too bad for the extra low final drive ratio. It will get installed later if I think the Mera needs a little extra kick.
As for a turbo.......I don't think so. I plan to drive this car alot and I want a car that is as reliable as my trusty yellow 88 GT was. I hope to have it done and driving this weekend. Then we will see if this was worth all the work.
