right on, Rick. looks like you are on your way.

the Turbo was a suggestion since it seems like it wants to be installed on a Mera......whoosh.
"everybody else has one"........hahahahaaaa

the turbo thread i mentioned on pg. 42 is in the "Tech" section not the general.....

good luck and we will need a video for verification

later

I do have an 87 Mera with a turbo on a new short block 3.4 engine. It was recently modified with a DM bored throttle valve, Truelo intake, and matching valve covers. I like the looks and it may perform better.

Not at this time. I don't know if it is the direct injection or variable valve timing that would be the bigger problem with this swap.

My 3.4 is now installed the Mera. I just have to finish all the small work and she will be ready to fire.

Nelson, what kind of turbo set up are you running? I know the truleo performs better, I just can't warm up to how it looks. I may end up installing a "Dawg" modified stock intake on mine. Right now it is bored out to match the Darrel Morse throttle body. I hope to fire it tommorrow. Have to work today.

It is now time to introduce an new member of the family. Mera 7014 found its way to my garage this afternoon. Although it has been shabbily treated by a F308 conversion, there is potential in this car. Interior and exterior work will commence in the next few months, but this will be a long term project.

I may need a new engine so let me know if there is a reasonabaly priced 3.4 pushrod available. The turbo on this one is set at 10 psi boost and I do not want to use a 2.8 engine.

BTW, does anyone want Corvette seats with Fiero compatible mounting tracks?

Nelson

Look in the turn signals center, could be real Ferrari turn lenses as in early build.

morning, INDY.
this has been a contention in my Mera.....i have real Carrelo RED break lights and Mera 1 Amber turn signal.
only half of both light up when i use them...so i staggered the Reds and Yellows. cant remember which is which. half moons. kinda cool for now.

then i found this in the archives from my P.O.

That would make sense if someone were explaing how their 1988 Mera got those taillights, but actually seems to go against the thought that this would be the one & only 1986...as in that case, and I'm sure Rodney would agree, there would not be any bodywork to the taillight area, as they never would have had the Ford backup lights in the first place.

he seems to admit that his/ MY "1987 has it that way..." the Craigslist car in question,"Does have the 308 taillight configuration..."

not sure what the intent of this comment is but i assume he also means that "OUR" Mera X also had NO BACK UP Lights.

so i also am trying to find this for the DataBase.....and speaking of the Mera DataBase.........TEASE!!!!!

*EDIT*^^^^^WHATS WITH THE BLOODY RED X! ARRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!STUPIDMACHINES!!!!time for coffee.

compliments of Mr. Dickman.....thank you Rodney!!!
its gonna take awhile to go through but, between these newsletters (all 8 editions) and the New-er Info we have collected this last year or so.....here in the "Paradise" thread....it should be an interesting Winter

ohhhh yeah......he had these in the Pack also!!!!!!!!

notice the 1986 copyright date??AWESOME!!

CONFIRMED!!!! my manual Drivers side Vitoloni Mirror, IS MERA OEM!!!!!

heres the sheet fot the '88'S

so this is the beginning of the "Quest of Documentation".....all in a nice straight contunious timeline......

we will see

Dan,

The original backup lights were indeed glassed in during the F308 conversion. The standard Mera tail lights were also home modified to place the backup lights inside them. See the clear circle inside the lights in a rear photo. This specific Mera was "stock" when it left the conversion factory and the only differences that I can detect are in the Mera conversion sticker (same info but different sizeand format) as well as a couple of other Corporate Concept stickers that I have not seen on later builds.

BTW, the Chromadoras were add ons at a later date and I have another set of wheels (five spoke type) that also come with the car.

Daniel

Perhaps. As long as the driver's seat does not have the inflatable lumbar controls on the lower right thigh support. I still have a dent in my leg from that stupid control box from when I had a few vettes. Price?

Here is another Mera to look at. This is in Oklahoma City and is priced too high in my opinion. If I wanted $12 k for a vehicle, I would clean it up a bit. nevertheless, here are the pictures and I think that it is on Craigs List. I have an e-mail address if anyone wants to contact the owner directly.

The VIN is 1G2PE1197JP206383 and this is now a confirmed Mera (#8019).

Nelson,

Is that a Rodney front bumper on your latest find? It looks nice. My wife keeps saying my Mera looks like its tongue is hanging out. You must have a very tolerant wife

By the way, we finished my West Coast Fiero 3.4 engine swap. My Mera is a whole different car now. It really runs great. Check out the last page of the "El Paso Fiero Fest" thread for some new pictures.

Rick,

I do have a very tolerant wife but she has asked me if I plan to start a Mera museum. Obviously there have been some questions wrt my sanity. She was very nice about the Saturday acquisition and said that it was entirely up to me if it came to live in the basement. She may have been somewhat molified by the fact that I bought her a new Expedition that same morning.

WRT the front bumper, I believe that it is a Rodney construction.

Looks like another back up light conversion. I do like the headlight door treatment. I don't get the stick on reflectors on the front bumper. The wheels are the wrong offset. Has this guy heard of engine cleaner? He must live on a dirt road.........

Flipping the stock Mera bumper? Hmmmm. It wouldn't have that "droop snoot" look, but it would still stick out a long way. I really like the Rodney bumper design.

The stock Mera bumper follows the line of the slope of the hood, flipping it would make it look like Gene Simmons licking his upper lip.

I have an e-mail address if anyone wants to contact the owner directly.

The VIN is 1G2PE1197JP206383 and this is now a confirmed Mera (#8019).

i say this because i have seen a write up by Rodney stating it can be done......seems do-able
all i failed to mention is that he says it needs to be "pushed in" a little???
it seems like it should work. the shorter "angle" on the downside.

MERA Technical Question?

How do you remove the side gills behind the windows? I want to detail these but it would be much easier off the car.

Thanks for any tips you have on removal or detailing these correctly.

There are three bolts holding the Mera "gills" on. These bolts are accessed by removing the B pillar for olts from the inside of the motor compartment.

I tried to e-mail the pictures but the address on file is apparently bad and the mail would not go through. You may want to check this out.

I have not made a final decision on disposal of the seats but likely may replace them with some extra Fiero seats that I have in my basement. Make me an offer for the Corvette seats if you are interested. Please note that these seats have not been cleaned since I just got them Saturday evening. I believe that they are from a mid 90s Corvette (C3 or C4 type).

Nelson,

Those are C4 seats. They look like they fit the Fiero nicely.

On the side gill removal, will I have to remove any of the interior panels to get the front edge of the gills loose? I was looking under the engine compartment and could only find two of the attaching bolts. Maybe I am blind.......

The Corvette seats fit fairly well but you loose about one inch in headroom (with T-Tops). I can do this but take a small chance on bashing my head if I hit a bad bump. That is why I may decide to sell the C4 seats.

The third bolt is located under the B piece and you have to remove that to get to the third bolt.
