You are not kidding. I recently missed a complete set of actual 308 lenses with the reverse lights in the middle that sold for under $100. The auction ended in the middle of the night. I thought I had set my alarm correctly but NOOO. I slept right thru and missed the deal. I still have it marked on my "watch list" to remind me........

SOME quick reference mera facts:

vin number showing its an 87 or 88
mera id sticker-------------------->NOT FOR SURE. (Rodney confirmed)
two piece sail/quarter panels
ford reverse lights
vitaloni mirrors/early cars had manual dr side, later cars had both pwr--------->NEED TO FIND THE DATE OF CHANGE OVER.
vitaloni joystick controller--------->MY TAKE ON THIS IS CONCERNING THE LT/RT SELECTOR SWITCH.....#6001 AND I DO NOT HAVE.....(PICTURE CONFIRMED) with no pwr dr mirror we do not need. super good thing. one of the best FOR ME ANYWAY.you all know i got the lowest Number Mera.....here right? well cept #6001. so far "on paper".

side markers integrated into body line----->TRUE.NEED TO FIND IF THEY ARE MOULDED OR CUT IN....LIKE THAT "ZILLION" VIDEO...ON FIEROSAILS.whatever
non vented front hood
2 pce aluminum brackets behind qtr sails--------->nice! i forgot about those. dam
sheet rock looking screws in the reverse light backing area------->THE FUNNIEST COMMON LINK BETWEEN THE '87'S AND 88'S
2 slat radiator grill----------------->MOST ASSUREDLY A GREAT PIECE TO HAVE (RODNEY CONFIRMED)
aluminum engine grill----------->NEED TO FIND IF cc IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ROUNDING THE POINTS FOUND ON EARLY CARS. another great discovery and/or common link with THE EARLY PROD. MERAS. within the first 5....so far...(PICTURE CONFIRMED)

snakeskin finish alum trunk covers----->YES.....this has been a ??. the back of my alum plate, on the back says "AUTO".....this question of "what does the "AUTO" mean"...answers 2 ways #1-it is in, "AUTO" like in AUTO-moblie car....
#2 "AUTO" could mean in my case "AUTO-MATIC" car.....yes a bloody AUTOMATIC 1987 MERA like mine...
COMPLETELY BRILLANT!
also it would be nice to know the ratio of AUTOMATICS to MANUALS.....for both years.

2 piece louvered head light covers---------->NOTHER FINE EXAMPLE OF "MERA STATUS"....clout and panash.
leather 308 knock off seats/optional-------->I NEED MORE HARDCOPY ON THIS. I HAVE PICTURE PROOF, BUT NO WORDS.....AND NO MENTION SO FAR IN CC DOCUMENTS.....CEPT FOR THE "MERA CUSTOM LEATHER" LETTER THAT STATES IT COSTS $200 THING.....LOOSE END STILL, NOT FINISHED
88 Cromodoras/optional ---------->THIS ONE NEEDS TO BE CONFIRMED IT WAS AN OPTION. not just the only option. that make sence?? they were not offered early on, thus the painted "lace" wheels....BUT COULD ONE ORDER, SAY A late 1988 MERA AFTER THE CROMODORAS WERE AVIALBLE WITH LACE'es. ARE THE CROMA'S A TRUE "OPTION". LIKE AN "EXTRA'? good info to know.

i will update this list as more people chime in with more details.

END QUOTE.......MERA7.
now its your lovable Batousai.....bringing you the latest update.....

here is the FACTS VS FICTION and the known from the unkown. SO FAR.....with my little notes added. first time they all have been catagorized.....dang! Mike thats my job!

ATTA'BOY MIKE......the ball is in play and IT IS SHOWTIME!!
a little early tho....i aint seen any snow yet......but still, its on.

and when i say "I" i mean "WE" ......you guys know i do not hoard info. i cant, IMPOSSIBLE! see my post count if you think i can i have to tell you. its in my nature.....

tho.....i will (and have) admit, i do have copies of the Mera Newsletters.....and i also have had requests to forward them too.....well up till now my actions or lack of .....were due to a respect for a very well known Mera Expert and it being his "property"....he still has the final say.....i have asked him a number of times, his opinion on this subject and have yet to recieve any word.....i did not want to put him on "Blast" here, so all requests have been PM'S and email so far. but recent transgressions have made me wonder "WHO IS THE MERA EXPERT?"

Now i know that Rodney obviously sticks his head in from time to time....but the one time he has anything to say its to almost start a fight worthy of the "trashcan"...all along through this thread he has remained silent.....thats my PROBLEM with what happened earlier with Mike.....hes got nothing to say then when he does its an attack.

i will claim to know more Mera facts than anybody. (unless you read this entire thread....then you will too ) but after making the above Masterpiece. (Thanks again, Mike).......now we all know.......and have always known for the last year or so......i will ask a topic related only request .....

RODNEY?? will you Re-open the Mera Registery.....and disclose any and all information on the world wide web......i will help. I.....scratch that, WE, already have, as seen collected in this emourmous thread. BIG THANKS TO TOMMY FOR THE PLACE TO CRASH!!!! DIG IT BRAGH!

WE ALL....know that there has been new Owners and new Mera found here and those that were thought, long lost to International Exports....they are found...1 Sweden....1 England....and maybe 1 in Spain.
all you need to do is send me the info. i will take it from there. even got POSTAGE PRE-PAID. its obvious all the credit is to.... and will go to, you.....how about it??

Hope you all do not take this as Mean or Rude......its not meant that way.
with the demise of Pontiac the time is now to prepare a working collection of facts about the Meras and set them in stone, so when the "History Books" come a calling we have a general statement to make for inclusion. we can not miss this point in time.

now lets make for PARTY!!!!
speaking of party.....We still need to make plans for a Mera get togeather....BY THE WAY. lessen yer yella.....i vote some place warm...flat with twisties.....in the middle of nowhere. desert?? i mean Vegas is my nod. no better yet. DENVER, CO.....to Vegas!!

them V8's are gonna need some room to streach. hahahahaaa....

later

Daniel

OK now its time to talk money...... i mean "......stick em up"!

kidding......but how many of you guys would be interested in getting and paying for (last i checked it was $50) a Pontiac Historical Services run down of your 1987-1988 Pontiac Fiero and posting or sending to me directly??.....they have a package you buy and they send you what they have.....look it up and see what you think.

*EDIT* for link and dam.....they raised it to $65.....bloody Spanners.
http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A...%3a//phs-online.com/

i called them the first week i got Mera X and they said that it "would not reflect the Mera option"....he knew what that was but knew it would not be in there. well we should document the Fiero in the Mera for #1 an option list....they include a RPO sheet i think and they may have Dealer info in there also.....i am getting one for me.....and would like to add this info into the "BOOK" if we actually put owners to cars.....not too sure.
thats all y'all call. i will use only released pictures you want published either in hardcopy book form or internet showcase.....the choice is yours. including any restorations would be a cool little chapter or 3, too!!!......take pictures of it all....MIKE!!!! ENGINE MODS, EVERY THING!!

if we add kits into the mix.....rather built in a garage or something like the Zimmer, Aldino, Enterra.....i think it would be of interest outside of the hobby.....NEW YORK bestseller one can only hope.....wouldn't it be cool if we all got to go on a book signing tour??.......in our cars!!

THINK BIG. THINK FAST !!!!

OR THINK AT HOME!!
i 'm gone!!.......to the road. AWAY!
Daniel

P.S. i love that little icon...and its a 3 speed just like X. even how i drive it. 1st......2nd........drive.......getyousome!!

Dan,

Not sure on how the side marker openings were actually done on the bodywork. My side lenses are attached with the same type of screws the stock Fiero side markers use to hold them on.

Rodney, do you know if the openings are cut or molded in? To me it looks like they are molded in. Otherwise, they did a real nice job cutting the openings.

Then your side markers fit tighter than mine. Mine, #8046, fit behind a slot in the in the "waist band," and there is a definite gap around the lens.

I'll post some pics later today.

Mine also have a gap. I pulled the cover behind the trunk off, and I could see light coming thru by the side markers on the inside of the fender.

i misunderstood the question. there was daylight by mine too. i thought the question was if the hole was in the mold or cut from the mold. not whether the signal was actually molded into the panel. sorry. mine no longer has the oem sidemarkers, now has the small round oem f308 euro sidemarkers. one of my subtle upgrades.

Dick,

Your markers look exactly like mine. I have not looked at the openings close enough. Are they molded or cut?

I'll take a look to confirm, but they appear cut.

Looked.

Hard to tell from the outside as the edges are pretty well finished. From the inside, rear, there are some exposed glass fibers--I'm not a glass man, but if cut I wouldn't think these would be there. . . .or maybe they would.

Not much help ;-)

New Subject!

In Texas front license plates are one of the things we car people love to hate. However they are required, and depending on the local police officer, or state DPS (they are the ones that usually enforce this) you can end up with a warning or fine.

I have never seen a Mera with a front license bracket. Was one even offered for this car? Can someone post pic of an actual "Mera" front license bracket? Most of my cars do not have front plates mounted on them, but I know I am on borrowed time with a car that attracts as much attention as this one.

Here ya go guys...a front tag on a real Mera! Unfortunately, front plates are mandatory here in Hawaii.

I took the plate off so you can see how the bracket is made. Pretty simple utilizing a bracket I've seen at Checker. Then its bolted to an L-shaped piece that is bolted to the bumper.

This view looking up...only one bolt and nut to the bumper.

LOL...good thing I looked at this. Gonna remove it, knock the rust off and repaint it. I still need to work the original two-slat grill I bought off e-bay a while back

None of my Meras have front plate brackets. Tom, did you install this or was it original?

Hi Nelson,

Can't say for sure since I'm not the original owner. It kinda/sorta looks original, but I suppose anyone could fabricate it. But now I wonder...if whoever put this bracket on, needed for some reason to remove the two-slat original grill that I lacked. The Mera bumper and grill that I recently purchased off e-bay is still in the shipping box, I never had a chance to open it. I'll have to check that out.

8046 has no bracket, nor any evidence that it ever existed--and it's originally a CA car.

SAY WHAT!?
i found this while looking up Lambos.....on WIKI.

QUOTE/
Nera (2007)

Lamborghini Gallardo Nera Gallardo Nera (Special Edition) is a limited (185 unit) version of contemporary Gallardo coupe introduced at the Paris Motor Show. The car was designed to showcase the customization options available to the customer in the Ad Personam program.

The Nera features special matte black body panels, and is only available in black—actually a combination of Nero Serapis and Nero Noctis. Brake calipers are painted a special silver, and the taillights are smoked to match the darker paint scheme. The interior is stitched from high-contrast black and white leather in the Q-Citura (lozenge shaped) fashion. Note that the glass engine cover remained an option, even on the Nera.

Among the produced Gallardo Nera, 60 were destined for the American market, 91 were sold in Europe.

almost 1 letter off....that would be cool and a good thing for a broad search if it were "Mera" the Lambo would pop up and so would WE the Pontiac Mera....i have done searches "the Pontiac Mera" and the word "THE" pings....."THE?!" "one millon matches"
anyway if Lambo called a version of any of their cars the "Mera " our cars would end up being in that spotlights overspray....that would bring us some attention we need......"rich people" i would sell Mera X to an ecentric millionare who has to have the "Limited" things in life.....like a rare Pontiac!

Tom.... you were hiding that front plate....your car is the first i checked......good show, bragh!
