#8002 has it only on the drivers side, which is correct?

WWP

so you wont like this then i think its boss!

now the Pininfarnia badge......i feel that if it is a Euro style 308....it will have the emblem on the right side.....where the driver gets in to the car over there. the US version it would be vise-versa.....it has to do with the drivers side, i reckon. now with the both sides being adorned....hummm personal prefrence or just anal.....not too sure. HA!

does it really matter....Magnums only had it on one side
hahahaaaa.....

also my emblem is above the "beltline" and its the only one i have seen this way. wonder whats up with that??
thats cool tho, for i plan to get a metallic sticker with "Corporate Concepts on it anyway.

as far as the gas door spring....Rick,i got one but it does not hold it open. it "springs" the lid, when i hit the latch inside, "POP" and i have to finish opening it manually. it stays open on its own.
when it gets light out i will go snap a few pics.

morning. wood?

Dan

*EDIT*
awwwww yeah!!! would the OWNER of page 61, PLEASE STAND UP!! finally....got me a couple!

Well, I ventured into the frozen north (its snowing again), and I don't have any spring-thing on #8002 at all. All it does is pop open about 1/2 inch and then I pull it all the way open, it stays open until I close it, normally 3-4 miles down the road.

got this too....i have been a busy little beaver

Ok "Beav," as for your, can you guess which question: Looking at both cars....The one on the left is wider, a bit higher, has a red roof instead of black and the tire tread is a metric pattern called the "Zagnut 7" which will not fit a real 308, also the red color is 15.3% deeper. Based on this information I would say the "Real 308" is on the right, while the Mera is on the left. Also the plate on the car on the left reads "Imposter"

What do I win?

I also have a pair of X-ray glasses, which I got off the back of a comic book that let me see though clothing
I like the fact that the Mera is a bit bigger, of course I used to have a Miata, now that's small! Considering how I drove that car its a miracle I am still alive!
Think how small the Ferrari is, then think how tall Magnum is (6ft 4in). They had to remove the bottom of the seat, unbolt and pull the back of the seat alllllll the way to the firewall, even with all that 98% of time he still had to keep the top open! With all that it must felt like a go-cart to him.

If your going to make that trip to Milwaukee we should rope in some of the other Mera & Fiero owners and make it a mini-reunion.

The Mera and Ferrari really look very similar in this shot. This one may be a kit since it has the correct back up lights. Also I like the accent painted area under the rear bumper on each side. I am going to do that on mine. It also appears the Ferrari actually has a larger rear window, compared to our mail slot opening. A back up camera is also in the plans for my car.

Dan, You have wierd trunk corners.
Every Mera I've seen use the GT 'D' square offs and use the GT fastback trunk gasket.
Got any pics of your rear deck lid underside?
Does your trunk leak??

Whoa!! Indiana raises an issue that I don't think we have ever discussed!

Per the VIN, my Mera is built on a Formula. Formula would equate to basically a notchback design. Which if not mistaken, would in turn equate to a notchback style trunk (i.e., the more rounded, oval shape) like Dan's. Sooooo....why/how do I have a GT style trunk (i.e., squared off).

Rick, FYI when I was in Taiwan, Tom installed a three-way mirror monitor in place of his rear view mirror. Looks like a standard rear view mirror, just a bit wider (like about 10"). Anyways, he placed the tiny cameras in the mirrors on each door, and one in the back of the Lambo. So when everything is turned on, in the rear view mirror, he sees the left part as his left door camera, the center is from the rear camera, and the right portion is from the camera mounted on the right door. It is a slick setup! He said that he bought the whole kit locally, so maybe they are available on e-bay.

I do not have that coil spring on the fuel door. The spring clip pops the fuel door only a little bit, then you need to manually pull it open. I think the addition of that coil spring on Dan's would probably pop the fuel door wide open, perhaps??

Edit: And thanks for that pic Dan! Thankfully I was not wearing my contact lenses, so my retinas were saved!

Mera X is on a 1987 Pontiac Fiero SE....thats why i have no GT accoutraments.....i hope.
rear deck lid photos the underside?? sure do.....

if you need some close ups i got to take them yet....let me know what you are thinking....

thanks

hey Thomas.....you get that thing i sent ya, yet....keep a look out for a postie. i found you something you aint got for your Mera.....and speaking of your Mera.
The Formula/GT thing is not because you have a 88 is it?? i do not know the difference.
i have been so focused on Meras i have yet to bone up on my Fieros.
cept for the fact that my 87 Fiero SE is a real limited production Fiero, hands down. but, i have said that before....

NOW, the spring on mine as i just went to look at it for those pics.....when i poped it this time it sprang all the way open. i have the clip too so we may have a Mera Mod here.....the spring is wrapped around the screw that you all should have at the top of your gas cap. both the spring and the clip seemed to open it all the way.....hummmm.....not sure if i noticed this before.
its neat when it opened all the way. i have to pay more attention to this.Maybe Just Maybe the springs dont last that long. maybe all yours broke off?? my guess is its a PO addition. the spring is shinny/uncroded and the screw that its attached to is rust colored......whawaaaa.....wahwahhhhhhh.

uh oh......no clue. i went on a photo hunt and they all look rounded to me.
cept when they call balk.....with the "FastBack" converisions.....but that does not affect you, with a Factory Mera.hummmm......

i did see both styles but all the threads in the archives all had the "Conversion" jive or flat out fraud in the cases of "the Mall". so i still got no clue......someone knows for sure.....i remain on the hunt, boss!!

Hey Dano! Sorry, nothing in from Mr Postman yet. Dang, how tall is your garage? I wish mine was that tall. They build em for midgets over here.

Well, that is very interesting. If the Formulas had the notchback oval trunk, and most of the 88 Meras were built from Forumulas, I wonder how much trouble it was to modify to a GT-style, rectangular trunk, with the matching rubber gasket? It just doesn't jibe. CC switched from using GTs to Formulas, ostensibly to save money, but I'm wondering how much extra money would they then have to spend to change the trunks to GT style? Or...are there 88 Mera's out there with the oval, notchback style trunks? (uh...besides yours!)

i got to dive...later

Tom other than Dan's car, every Mera I have seen has had the square trunk opening even if built on a Formula chassis. I assume that changing the trunk opening was part of the assembly process. I figure Dan's car is very early production from the way it is equipped.

The one owner 87 here in El Paso has the square trunk opening, the Mera leather interior, and an aftermarket steering wheel. I am not sure if it is built on an SE or GT chassis. I will have to check the VIN. That is what will tell us what chassis it is assembled on. The GT, Formula, and SE all have different VIN designations.

they sure dooo Rick. just got done with that.....

ok since you all are stingy with the photos
its not for shore.....but i think that the trunks aluminum covers are custom fit to suit the Chassis.
most 87 Meras started out as GT's. confirmed by some pics i have of '87 GT Meras. square trunks.
now Mera #7029 is VIN'd to be on a SE but no pics of the open deck.....rats! but it is VIN confirmed to be an SE....good for me. sets precidence with a SE conversion to 1987 Mera. NOW the only other Mera SE i know of is....... the bloody 1986 Proto-type!!!
my boy and savior. once again the 86 and me have more in common than even the mighty 88's....with Toms little anomily here.

i saw more so called "88 Formulas" with round corners than square. but have yet to see a round corner Mera. because they are all rumored to be built on square corner Fiero GT's. so i am pullin for Toms, anomily. a little Mera treat for you, bragh!
but to me.... Toms issue lies in the Fiero, not the Mera....you follow me? i may have to edit.

i guess its a photo finish.....Tom you need to post some shots of what you have. another 88 Formula and a 88 GT need to post what they have.....for compare/contrast.

I need to get that '86 Mera in front of me and call the owner of the #7029.
later

Dan
fun, fun, fun.....this is soo fun, fun.

that above is a bunch of thinking out loud.
the truth is that i am the only round trunked Mera so far. that may be bad!
its a nice finish and all....but after a few of you said you had the same fake snake skin aluminium covers i assumes they were all the same. thats where the Fiero part came to bite......or not
Not until i see the only 2 other SE Meras known, will i know for sure.....or till i see some pics, ya swabbs!!

Dan,

The guy with the 87 Mera here lives about 30 miles away from me. He's retired, but I am here chained to my desk. If I can ever get out there, I will take some interior and trunk pics for you. My cover behind the trunk opening is also a piece of thin metal with a heavy grain vinyl that is starting to lift in spots. I plan to recover it as soon as it warms back up. This morning it was 27 degrees here! Not at all El Paso weather!

I still think your car may be an early Mera. Since these were produced in so few number, it appears Coorporate Concepts took some liberties in how they assembled these cars.

So when everything is turned on, in the rear view mirror, he sees the left part as his left door camera, the center is from the rear camera, and the right portion is from the camera mounted on the right door. It is a slick setup! He said that he bought the whole kit locally, so maybe they are available on e-bay.

Edit: And thanks for that pic Dan! Thankfully I was not wearing my contact lenses, so my retinas were saved!

Tom, I would be very interested in the monitor set up. Could you also post a picture of your wide angle rearview mirror? Have you heard anything more on the exhaust system from over there?

As far as Dan's "pictures" I try to quickly avert my eyes.

the duals, both sets......dibs. shipped?

i think that Mera X was forced to run over something rather large....the Cat is all wired around. like the old school "Gut" but to keep it looking there. and the muffler looks OEM but its all cobbled togeather. JUNK YARD SPECIAL NO DOUBT. so these will be much appreacieated....something OEM that Mera X actually needs to restore to its former glory. great timing there Mike. sorry boot the pic. just playing. at least it is a girl. that other one not too sure. nuff said...

please and thank you.....good show Rick. how's that cold treating you, again?? keeps you tough!!

i hope they did not have too far to deviate tho....i want the known SE 1987 Meras to match.....never cared about the 88's till recently.kidding. anything for the history books.

i do not know its all too hard without the cars all there/here, too compare.....thats where the reunion is key too and soon. i got some thing a brewing this summer in the WI area....i am co organizer and maybe it could be a major Fiero Event.

that would be the ultimate. a major Mera showdown at a major Fiero event....FieroRama 2011?? Ricks friends are talking Gunnison,CO. still thinking about this still Rick?? something has to happen soon. i need to see some Meras in person......privately. closely
seems like Texas has 3-4 Fiero clubs....and AZ has one....NV, LasVegas. most Fiero club concentration. minus the long TX miles i hear so much about from truckers....

ooooffff!

Dan,

There is an annual Fiero event in Gunnison Co. For us it is actually much closer than going to the San Antonio one. (Yes Texas is that big) Plus it is much cooler, and way less humid, and, they have these things callled "trees". Us west Texas guys are used to hardly any humidity. When I go to central Texas I feel like I am in a sauna! No bueno por mi.

As long as the wind does not kick up the cold is tolerable. I hate wind chill....... This weekend is going to be nice. Time to wash the Mera and go for a cruise.
