to all the newbies... at one time there were several mera threads, mine included. we were told not asked we needed to condense to one mera thread because we were on the top page all the time with multiple threads. and it annoyed them. when i say we were told... i mean by other members, not by cliff himself. we did not have to but we did to not cause a rift with the "fiero owners". i expressed thoughts to the minds who wanted us to condense do you make a fiero coupe only page, and a fiero se page, and a fiero gt page, and a fiero indy page, and so on.. and if so this site would only have 10-12 pages total. but they didnt see it my way...lol needless to say here we are. for the most part pff is a great group. almost all of the mera buddies here are top notch a+ people/all but one whom i wont mention his name lol. most of the fiero people are too, but some are not. i have butted heads with a few people on this site and have come out the victor on all so far. we are auto enthusiasts, we like our mera's as they like their fieros... and last but not least... meras are fieros too...lol my .02

Well, I had a Fiero (rest in peace) for 20 years before I bought the Mera--I'm still a Fiero guy and will own another! Sure like to have Johnyrottin's yellow GT.
There big problem with the Mera is, I tend to drive it much more cautiously than the Fiero.
OI? how much is shipping to Mi going to cost for these Mera Rims!!!! MINE!!!! HAPPY DAYS....ARE HERE AGAIN!!! the guy called back said he was gonna get a quote and talk about payment arrangements....THEY WILL BE PAYPAL or nothing from me....so they may be back on the block if NOT so

I should probably just keep my mouth shut but…I wont. (It's called Freedom of Speech) Am I to understand that we "Mera Owners" are being told to "stay to the back of the bus? or, stay with our own kind," not mix with the "Arian Race", i.e. Real Fiero owners? It seems to me that when I put on my country's uniform I was fighting for the right of ALL people to live there lives free of such narrow minded prejudice. This "elite guard" mentality smacks of Neo-Nazi brutality, and we sure know how that turned out, or do we? Buck Up Boys, their all the same car under the skin, one feeds off the other, learns from the other, if that’s not apparent to everyone, than I don't want to waste my time here, on a bunch of anal exhaust suckers, there's enough of those, in off shore cars.
Your Mera will look great with those wheels! Very period correct for the 87.
Wayne,
Actually I like having one thread to ourselves. It has allowed us to form a little family group. I actually used this thread to verify information about the 88 Mera I ended up purchasing. For a time I owned my Mera, and a factory yellow 88 GT 5-speed, so I spent a lot of time outside this thread as well. I still do. Actually I hope non Mera owners check out this thread from time to time. That is how we find out about more Mera's, 308 kits, and even Mera wheels! I don't consider myself a Fiero outcast, just an even smaller niche in a group of people that are nuts about an off beat Pontiac!
Here in El Paso I am a member of a group of Fiero owners. We all have a great time together even though I am the only Mera owner in the pack. My car is affectionately called "Sophia" because of it's bodywork. If there are any haters out there they are few an far between. Most people I talk to are just interested in knowing more about the car.

i agree with rick... 99% of the general public and ppl here on pff are good ppl. i like the name sophia very appropriate rick
You must forgive me, I have a passion about "little things" like liberty & freedom, and will stand up and fight anything that gets in its way.
The funny thing is, among all the cars I have owned there was a 1988 Fiero GT, white with gray interior and rockers, stick of course. Its the car that got me back into performance cars and out of the luxury cars. When the doctors told me I had a very "limited" run left, I made my Bucket List, and at the top was a Ferrari 308. After reading up on the cars I decided I didn't want to spend what little time I might have waiting for parts from Italy. It was a Ferrari Dealer that put me on to the Mera, and boy am I happy he did! The guy I bought the car from bought it for himself when he was diagnosed with cancer for his "bucket list" and he credits it with helping him beat the odds. And guess what I am still here too, magic, faith or ?, you decide.
If anybody has the so called "right" to turn up their nose at the Mera its the guy with a real Ferrari, but no, the one here in town has actually befriended me. In my estimation that's really open minded. Peace.
Are these 87 or 88 wheels? There is a different offset on them.

lets see on 11/16/10 the # was 29877-36216= 6339 in just 3 months, give or take. dang thats like 23 views a day for the 3 month period. fun with math. now, not too impressive with the amount of times i leave here and log back daily. but again if that "view" count is lookers and not posters. thats a lot of somebodies checking this ever evolving tribute to the rare Pontiac obsession of ours.
or its just the 5.5 views a day for 18 months that i have been doing since i signed up. thats easy and not possible. well unless the "views" are just lookers and not posters.....wonder what catagory i fall into? :lookout: D

hey Nelson, howdy.....i would assume that they are 87's. i have yet to actually talk to the guy, phone tag, but with the silver and the stickers in the centers, i would bet money they are the 1987's. the add does not say. I GOTTA HAVE EM! i would not care so much or be selling my right foot, if them emblems were not present. as always with these meras its all about a stinkin' sticker

PS you guys get first crack.....
FOR SALE ONE RIGHT FOOT....SLIGHTLY USED WITH A FAINT SMELL OF BUTT THAT HAS BEEN KICKED. its only the very faintest of wiffs for i have always only kicked said butt with shoes on. but as always with anything over 40 years old there will be some imperfections. for pics or more info....you know where to inquire....thanks in advance...

It seems that you have the information on the silver car already and possibly didn't realize it, in fact it is #6 built. What the number on the tag on the deck lid is anyones guess. Maybe a julian date on the production of the body parts from the mold or something, I have no clue. So there Dan, time for me to come clean. I cleaned Jeff (mindblender) of this car off E-Bay back then, I was the other guy that was satisified that it was genuine. Sorry Jeff, I had to have it (couldn't beat the price!) so here it came.
29670 is #35
The middle milage one I have (#6) and gave the cheapest for it go figure. It did (and still does) have a bad clutch in it. And some slight body damage that can barely be seen.

so did you know it was #7006, yesterday? nice snag. its soo going to help establish the early years....i gotta come down for pics. the problem is, well not a problem but, it sets a peciedence about maybe having the option to keep some of the more F-Car traits from the factory....ie no back-ups cut by order. #7006 seems to be a clean, no cut example. thanks for stepping up and comming out of the Mera closet, there Indy
this also points a flaw in my early strategy to get Mera vin info. for privicy i kept it to the prod number.....not thinking i need the engine code, date code and model numbers...oh well thats why i am printing it up. that Tech thread of mine if the test run....
d
*EDIT* in hindsight it did kinda prove a theory i had about finding a Mera with only the Prod number for ID. wish we all could see that main Mera list....but its best to not wave it around to the same tune, also

is this true?? on this fourm the previous owner says that this car (mine), did NOT have the back ups. it had the org. 308 configuration. this bit of info (if correct) is the ray of light I was looking for. hope! the thing is that someone put the back ups in! does this detract from the original Mera stock set up ?? also the fact that Rodney confirms that the grey Ebay '87 Mera is # 6 made with that high vin # interests me. My vin is 1G2PF1193HP209384. the door sticker says 10/86 for fabrication date. if I beleive in continuity, my Mera should/could be # 1-5, I dunna know no moe!
I like this one too....now more than ever. because now i could be Mera 1-4 after this new #7006 and #7005 in Sweden.rules!
still wonder if my PO cut my lights, in.....i think they look like a fresh cut. you can still see the powder in the cut area. i am going to have to take them out to see how fresh. 2008 was not that long ago. plus those rims i am to get are from Orlando. what if my PO sold them due to the hard times... hell he could be the guys old landlord i know its a strech but it is kinda weird a 1987 Mera without OEM silver Mera wheels leaves Orlando April 2009 and now a set of OEM 1987 Mera silver wheels show up in Orlando for sale.....just an obseration

These are the original 88 Mera emblems. The 87's generally were silver with black lettering etc. Some 87's may have had the gold type I have heard. The 87 nose badges had Corporate Concepts below the MERA word.
Although I did not take any pictures there were silver plastic covers for the large opening in the Cromadora rims. I have 2 sets. I'm sure these are now extremely hard to find. They had no emblems on them. To see the small center Mera emblems you had to take the large plastic covers off.

ask and you shall recieve.....isnt this great? fun with quotes. now to figure if he means the wheel emblems came in silver/black lettering on the 1987, too?? in for another dive....

I'll definitely pursue the round center caps after I finetune the 87 nose badge project. Were they gold and black, or silver and black? In your picture, the one on the left looks like silver and black...could be just the camera angle and lighting, though. I'll pursue those in support of the Mera community.

this is as confusing as my personality. are they talking about the wheel emblems or the nose?? the pic of the round silver on black is obvious in both the wheel centers, which to me look like the horn button emblems.....not sure. and common knowledge dictates the nose difference....if the rims in FL are supposed to be silver letters. i am going to low ball or back out. unless he goes for the PayPal protection plan!

I have a set of original MERA wheel centers for the lace wheels that came off Bob Bracey's wife's car. They are a bit different from Rodney's current decals which use a black design on silver/gray vinyl. The ones that I have appear to be a black design on a clear vinyl that have been applied to the standard type of Fiero metallic center cap. They work well on the conventional wheels but are too shallow for the 88 Chromadoras.
If you or I can could locate the correct depth and diameter wheel centers, I have already spoken with someone about pricing for providing domed vinyl stickers. There is a set up charge but I would pay that if there is some interest in several people getting sets.

so would a 1988 Mera with lace type wheels be like the super rare, Mera or what??
the above quote does say that some 88's had either a aftermarket set-up or OEM painted laces after a cromodora shortage. wonder when in line that took place? jolly good fun..... i hear the dogs. is that something comming around the corner? stay tuned, folks.......i may have found something else
