Interestingly, the Scagliettis are the high value 308s.

The glass 308's with the webers always seem to bring the most money. Did they make any "Scuderia" versions of the 308?

Seems F-car owners ponder the same question.

Hi Guys,
Nice to see your keeping the chatter going. I was wondering about that whole "badge" question too, I guess, for now, I will just leave her naked.
Maybe my mind will change once all this *.,+#**#++ snow melts!

Ok Mera knowledge base....answer this one!

Is there such a thing as a Mera RPO code? When a customer wanted to order a Mera, was there a code on the order sheet that indicated the car was to be converted by Corporate Concepts. Could you actually special order a Mera at a Pontiac dealer, of did people just purchase what was on the lot?

ohhhhhh i know of no Mera rpo code.
i talked to Pontiac Historic Sevices 2 years or so ago and they made no bones about their report showing the Mera package.

"most definately NOT!"
they base most of their research off the rpo info....so i put my money on, no code.

The smaller shield looks better proportioned on the Mera to me. That is the size I am going for on my project.

You will just have to wait and see what I come up with. Compare the smaller one to shields on actual 308's to get an idea of the scale. Thanks for the pics. Are you installing the new wheels? I drove mine to work today!

That looks somewhere in between the two sizes shown above. What are the measurements on it? Your shield looks very nice but I am doing something a bit different.

4X5 1/2. I printed it out and mounted it with "story board" tape--just temporary to see what it would look like. I printed a 3X4 to show you what that looks like.

i still like the big ones. annd no new wheels for me.
well i would like to try the OEM 13" set i got 4@$25 total.
the turbine/fin type with the pontiac emblem in the center.
but i need a impact gun to take off the spacers i got.
i did find that the CenterLines i have now were made in 01/98.

within 5 months of the first Title request that was put in for it up here in MI. SOURCE: at the time of purchase-CarFax.
wish this title renewal reflected the Mera option, darn.

OHHHH YEAH!! i forgot!! this is newer.....
found one more thing Mera X has in common with the Proto-type, ready??

the '86 Proto is in the same Detriot Suburb that Mera X came from. is that crazy or what??
still waiting to hear back from the dude.....with pics of the trunk and mirrors too.

man i miss talking, the Mera stuff.

if i get any more like qualitys with #6001 i may turn out to be this.......top line

this is right out of the Mera Newsletters...vol. 3 page 4.

i have to believe that i either have this other ProtoType or a whole Mera Salvage.
all Mera panels and all the Mera accessory Parts on a Different Fiero Chassis.
i dont know what else is left to find but with all the little Mera traits i got and the commonalities with #6001.
i feel my job here is done. Mera X is the other ProtoType!
and to think i thought i did not have a Mera in the beginning
ha teach me wont i???

anyway
i hope Tommy pops in and says all is good and/ or any Family he hay have in Japan is good!
not sure if he does, but i hope its all good for our little Paradise Pal!
Tommy!???? YOU GOOD, BRAGH???

man i miss this Mera stuff did i mention that????
going to shoot Rodney a PM and see what he says....

later
d

There was at least one prototype but it was all done up in stuff like molding clay, bondo etc. That Fiero used to make the master to make the molds was returned to a stock body Fiero once the Mera molds were pulled from it. I have some pictures of it somewhere. There was only one preproduction model. 1986 Mera serial number 6001. The next Mera was the first 1987 Mera. #7001. Again - these newsletters were done before the internet came about. It was hard to get information. I'm sure there are some mistakes in them etc.

In the letter above, it states the Mera was a dealer option. Could a Fiero be custom ordered by the customer, and then drop shipped from the plant directly to Corporate Concepts for conversion? If so how was this done? Was there a code on the sold order sent to Pontiac?

I'd like to see them in a "dimensional" product, sort of like a cloisonné, as they are on the newer F-cars. Not really cloisonné, but don't know how else to describe them.

say fellas??can you guess what this is a picture of ???

seems like the only thing the 1986 proto has that i dont is the Carrello Amber with white reverse light....

my reds are Carrello and my Ambers are MERA1.
also need to find out for sure if i had reverse lights in the beginning, or not.
i still could not be any happier with MERA X than i am right now.

WOW!!! now just the manual drivers mirror left to confirm and ........well i dont know. Rodney will have to make the call.
My car is way too close to the Proto to not be something special or a Mera #6001 clone, but really? a clone Mera!? not likely.
i guess they were in the same city at the same timehummmmm

I AM SOOOOO HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!

40 degrees "in the house"? What do you do, live in a tent??
58 degrees by Thursday! Might even melt the snow drift behind the Mera.
All we need then is one good Gully washer to get rid of the salt & sand, and out she comes!

Should have more detailed times on the trip to Michigan in a week or so, will PM you when I do.

I am told that the standard 88 center caps fit the Chromadoras but have had no luck with them myself even when I took original MERA center caps off a set of 88 lace wheels. Maybe your luck will be better than mine. I do have several sets of centercaps that fit the Chromadoras but need to keep them for my own Chromadora wheels. They also have Ferrari covers cemented to the center cap and I do not really know what is under them.

Hey Ron, do you mean these large covers or the insert for the actual wheel center with the Mera sticker on it??

i have been researching my wheels and i just noticed that my 1998 Centerlines look most like the Cromodoras with the "Plastic Covers" installed.
i got this pop off aluminum cover, a bolt cover, thats weird.

any of you guys have the large Cromodora bolt cover cap??

well i got this Mera with covers installed. had for a while, 1987 Mera. Washington.....state

and Mera X

close to the same size cap even. i rarely see the center caps installed on the 1988 Cromodora Mera, not F-Car enough for most '88 Mera first time/orginal owners, i reckon.

second hand owners and up, get what they get and the caps may have beem lost.
it was just recently i realize "WHY" my car has CenterLines made in 1998.
the OLDEST title registeration i have is in 1998 MISOS office (8 miles from proty now )and they look real close (too close) in my opinion to the Cromodoras and also the CL's were " BRAND NEW" in 1998 to not be a *nod* to the cromodoras, of some sort.
also
i have evidence that Mera X and the Prototype may have been within 15 miles of each other in 1998! thats awesome.

CANT WAIT TO DRIVE!!! getyasum!!

I have two complete sets of the large plastic caps that cover the Chromadora center sections. I suspect that the real reason that more of them are not installed is that the plastic tabs have a habit of breaking (20 plus years old plastic) and the covers may not stay on very well after several tabs break off.

Without making an acutal thicker vinyl peel and stick emblem, they could be given a 3D effect with a background shadow on all the lettering and logos.
