My 87 MERA is virtually stock with these exceptions:

Engine is a 3.4 push rod and has a turbo added.
Paint color has been changed from white to gunmetal gray with pearl.
Nose badge will be a reproduction.
Has Mr. Mike leather seat covers and custom floor mats.
Car has been lowered but I do have the original springs at the house.
Wheels are after market.
Mirrors are stock Fiero (power type) but I am working on the Vitaloni power mirrors for this vehicle.

I am not certain that I have any photos that sre correctly sized for Pennocks but will see what I can find.

All I get when I try to use PIP is a run time error. I will e-mail you some photos and see if you can post them (if you want to).

You and me both--tried many times.

I use Photobucket to post stuff--the image code is clearly identified. There are a lot of photo file resizing apps out there, but I like Picasa for general purpose organizing and archiving.

Thanks for the pics--beautiful car! If you would like I will resize these and return them

He quotes his numbers, but I'm suspicious--why would he say the number is #8140, then #52 built in 1988. The hood and headlights don't look Mera, but it is a pretty car.

no sir, i dont like it......for $11,000. the car fax is longer than the description. the sellers D'script does not mention the accident report. smells like fish....
also no mirror switch, head light covers- smooth, high mileage in 1997.and screwed on louvers... i feel there may be problems cuz of the amount of different owners. no one seems to love this vehicle...they buy it then sell in a couple months.....Daffy....anyway
MORNING ALL......this will be interesting to follow......theres a bid of 2K as of now......RESERVE NOT MET......hahaha....Later-

you know ....i went back to that listing to print the D'script and car fax......get this....upon comparision with my car fax issued at time of purchase......10/09/2008 issued FL M.V.D title Miramar Beach FL thats my fax- I had to assume that is the guy i bought from....but he lived in San Destin and Orlando FL..their not close to each other...by any streach.....he had 2 other Meras with him in Orlando. plus mine.(the one with no back up lights)......ok

now this yellow one: 10/06/2008 issued FL M.V.D title Ft. Lauderdale FL
these cars, the ever elusive MERA, were titled within 20 miles of each other and 3 days apart......Most Meras were sold in FL and CA, if i remember right orginally, and them Mera SPLASH downloads i have seen come from FL, but am not sure where??
OHHHH.....and a mysterious 10 year gap is also common between these vehicals.....I dont know... i beleieve in coincidence but.......

yellow car- title issued 06/03/1998-West Babylon, NY
my car - title issued 05/07/1998-Bloomfield Hills, MI
whats that like a month apart?????......Man! this is starting to hurt......me brain........I am gonna get a cup of coffee and chill.....

all right! emailed the yellow car for documation of build # and/or pic. of the trunk lid.....maybe Rodney will pop in also??????and run the VIN.....i dont like the car fax pattern i found....does anybody know how to get vehical history info on cars older than 10 years.....ever use the Pontiac Historical Services???? now with a job, I may have to run a search with them....if alls good??

I know i may not get Mera info, but the car history track seems interesting.....'cept that the title info i have already puts my car in MI in 1997....to me that a good thing.....with the home of Pontiac and Corprate Concepts in my upper eastside backyard......i believe that Bloomfield Hills MI has got a GM corprate presence.....these facts help create an enviroment of early Mera proudction dreams in my head.....good times...owners of large corprate giants wanting to stand out in every crowd.....even the real supercars owner circle...like a GM head honcho....or even dare i say a C.C. employee or .........ahhhhhhhh.......shear bliss awash.....and too much coffee man!!!!
back on the hunt, Later-

Dan,

If you want to buy the car and convert it back to the original configuration, I have the seats that came with the car (black leather), the original springs (if you want to reverse the lowering effort), original floor mats, a set of Vitaloni power mirrors that is missing the back cover on one of them, and original lace type wheels with MERA center caps and tires. The turbo could be removed and then the vehicle would look totally stock.

You could buy it and unmodify it to the original configureation with very little effort. However it would cost you some serious cash for the car and extra parts! If you want, I can e-mail you pictures so that you can start drooling over the vehicle. Of course, an original MERA build sticker would be included at no additional cost.

PIP partially worked for me after some setting changes. However, it does not want to post some jpg photos that are less than 60 k. Here are a few photos of the 87 MERA that PIP now allows and I have discovered that PIP does not like a photo file name with a % character in it.

I finally have the 87 badges back.

$13.00 per nose badge, $15.00 for the set of two door tabs. I have already clear coated them (2 coats) with Dupli-color Gloss Clear.

Price includes shipping, certified mail. Each badge in its own small ziploc bag.

If interested, LMK.

I like the 87 badges more than the 88's. Are the 88's the same price?

In response to some requests, here are several pictures of my restored 88 Mera with t-tops. The current interior will be replaced with Rob/Amida's F355 interior and VDO gauges sometime in the next few months. Does anyone want to come and help me with this project? I would like to take it to Daytona next year if I am finished.

Nelson

While I am on a roll, here are pictures of the project MERA (1988). It is currently partially disassembled and will be sporting a 383 V8 when it is completed. I also plan to change the interior back to Beechwood (original color). The new interior will come from the other 88 Mera plus the spare parts that I have on hand. Maybe in a couple of years you will see a black or British Racing Green MERA with a decent interior.

Nelson, very nice collection! The gray color is actually pretty classy looking, I like it. As for your project Mera, are you planning to keep the red interior? LOL...it's a little over the top for a guy my age. I like your spacious garage too!

Rick, Mike, for the time being, the price for the 88 gold nose badge is slightly lower: $10. It's still $15.00 for the pair (2) of door tabs. That's because they are NOT clear coated.

The prices for the 87 silver/black is slightly higher since I'm taking the time to prep and clear coat them first. For a complete set (one nose badge and two door tabs), the price is $28.00.

I may eventually start to clear coat the 88 nose badges as well, in which case they will be the same price as the 87.

FYI, I'm only making a couple of bucks per badge on these. I paid $125 for the initial artwork setup. Then I still have to pay for each badge, tax, little ziploc bags, postage, deduction for paypal, etc.

Mike, I have some 87 sets (silver/black) ready to go if you're interested. You can paypay me at my e-mail address: masashi1955@hawaiiantel.net

BTW, these badges do not have any mounting tape, since I'm not sure if guys want to glue them down, or use their own mounting tape. For mounting emblems, I've found that this works pretty good:

Minor interior restoration in progress.

I was able to find a nice 88 dot matrix shift plate bezel to replace the one I have with the cig burn.

However, the orange shift indicator paint appeared to be all worn out, so you could not tell what gear you're in. So I used my dremel and a cone-shaped grinder to knock off two of the melted pins. This was enough to lift up on the white plastic piece and allow the indicater piece to slide off (the clear plastic "thingy" on the right edge of the pic).

I then sanded down the tip of the indicator and painted it with some red paint I had handy. I reassembled everything and put a small drop of crazy glue on the pins that I had ground down.

So now, I can easily see what gear I'm in! Just like new.

Next, I wanted to paint the ash tray doors a satin black. However, the problem with painting ash tray doors is that when the doors are snapped open, they bang into the edge of the bezel, and thus would ruin the paint.

So what I did was to cut very small pieces from some stick-on, no-slip dots I had handy. I then stuck them underneath the ash tray doors at these locations:

So now, when the ash tray doors are snapped open, they will hit on these stick-on pieces, and the top of the ash tray door will never touch the edge of the bezel. Here (looking from the bottom), you can see the ash tray door open, and its resting on the stick-on piece.

So from the top, when the ash tray door is snapped open, it won't even touch the bezel area (in the red rectangle), thus saving the paint job.

I know...small nitwad stuff. But that's me.

A couple of things I'm looking into.

My first idea is to have someone make a custom door sill like this:

Of course it would say "Corporate Concepts" instead of "Boss Mustang." And also engrave the funky Mera logo on each end, or maybe just the front end. Also what would be cool is to keep the "Limited Edition #xxx of 247" under the "Corporate Concepts." (uh...sorry Dan).

Thoughts?

I'm also looking into the gold/brass wheel center caps. My contact can only make a standard 2" circle plate, so I'm wondering if this would suffice?

And I still want to get some customized mats. I'll have to check with Lloyds.

This thread and the pics show what I'm thinking of (custom door sills).

https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum4/HTML/047537.html

Aluminum door sills I guess would be okay, and probably cheaper. But the ones I've seen made of stainless steel are super nice. I doubt if there's anyone locally here that can custom make those. The person who makes and sells the Mustang door sill above is located in Taylor, MI.

LOL...eh Dano, you crack me up! LMS...you know "go for broke," "brah," and only the local guys here call me Tommy. Are you sure you didn't grow up here in Hawaii??

Tom could you incorporate this font into the door sill plates in Black? I really like Zigaroo's work on this.
